Ex Deo Going On Indefinite Hiatus

After previously stating there would be a third album, Maurizio Iacono (Kataklysm, Ex Deo) has now issued the following announcement about Ex Deo going on indefinite hiatus:

"Today I decided that Ex Deo and its legions will rest their arms. We will take an indefinite leave of absence, theres a good possibility that Romulus & Caligvla be the only sonic assaults that will ever see the light under the flag of Ancient Rome's lone but real epic voice: EX DEO

"If another album will ever see the light... it will be by the will of the Gods and voice of those who believe in the spirit of the once most powerful Empire... ROME, time will tell... or not.

"I feel we've done two great albums, full of passion and epic passages, no regrets, just proud moments...

"It was an education on where we all come from, Roma touched your blood one way or another, either through your ancestry or through your way of life, not believing it is not believing who you really are, because the entire world took a new spin towards a progressive future under Roman rule, hence the world we have today, still imperfect with many defects but forging ahead through progress... we will still post stuff on Facebook from time to time, hope you enjoyed the ride.

"We thank you for the great comments and thrills you have brought us ROMA CAPUT MUNDI ...Forever

"I leave you with this great passage from my hero 'I love the name of honor, more than I fear death' - Julius Caesar" More...

Dark Tranquillity Cancels Tonight's Vancouver Show

Dark Tranquillity is on the road touring in support of latest album "Construct" (reviewed here), but the band won't be making tonight's show in Vancouver. Dark Tranquillity comments:

"With heavy hearts we have to inform you that tonight's show unfortunately won't happen as planned.

"The harsh weather conditions have caused some roads to completely close down all traffic, making it impossible for the bus to make it to Vancouver. Every possible (and impossible) option was considered, but there simply is no chance of the show happening.

"Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. Again, we're tremendously sorry about this. We were all looking forward to playing and meeting up with our friends in Vancouver, and judging by the pre-sales and general buzz it was a very anticipated show for many of you, but as there's absolutely no realistic way for us to physically get to Vancouver today the only option is to admit defeat and cancel the gig." Lethal Dosage Streaming "Time To Think"

Tucson-based modern death/thrash quintet Lethal Dosage is preparing to embark on a Southwest U.S. tour this week in support of sophomore full-length, "Consume," which is now just a week from release.

In advance of its release Stereokiller.com is streaming the eighth of the album's ten tracks, laying down five punishing minutes of invigorated brutality with the epic "Time To Think." Give it a listen at this location.

The band comments: "We're stoked to hit the road and promote the release of our new record with these shows. We hope to see a lot of fresh faces out there and see how the older fans dig the new songs. Speaking of which, here is one called 'Time to Think' for all of you to dig into now. It's a heavy hitter with some melodic edge to it. Lyrically, it is about giving oneself time to think about the consequences of their actions, both good and bad. This one has a lot of meaning to the members of the band and if anyone else can relate and connect to it, we've done our job."

You can also catch the band live on these dates:

2/18/2014 Metal Junkies - Las Cruces, NM
2/19/2014 The Jam Spot - Albuquerque, NM
2/20/2014 The Hive - Flagstaff, AZ

Lucifer's Hammer Demo Reissued

"Night Sacrifice (Demo MMXII)" from Chilean traditional heavy metallers Lucifer's Hammer, is available now digitally on Shadow Kingdom Records. A cassette tape version is tentatively set for a mid-February release; the exact date to be announced soon. Shadow Kingdom Records' Tim McGrogan had this to say about the release:

"Shadow Kingdom Records is proud to introduce from the land of Chile, Lucifer's Hammer! This is very reminiscent of rare '80s US metal gems like Salem's Wych, Griffin, Heathen's Rage, Damien Thorne, etc. Also more-well known acts like Iron Maiden, '80s Judas Priest play a huge role in the development of their sound.

They're one of those rare new bands that could actually fool people into thinking they're an obscure Heavy Metal act from the '80s that fell beneath the cracks. Luckily for all of us, they're a brand new band just starting out and they have a lot of good songs in them. 'Night Sacrifice (Demo MMXIII)' is the very first of many releases to come. Check out this amazing band!"

"For now we will continue with Mr. Sören Teckenburg of Time Has Come who already helped out our good friends of Iron Savior at some live shows as session drummer. After three rehearsals he is already able to play an almost flawless set with us and we are really looking forward to our shows in Greece and the UK!" More...

Saturnian Mist Inks Record Deal

Finnish outfit Saturnian Mist has inked a deal with Candlelight Records, and the label issued the following statement:

"The band was originally founded by vocalist fra. Zetekh and guitarist fra. Chaoswind in Kuopio, Eastern Finland. They worked together in the beginning with only the help of local session musicians which produced releases like 'Self-titled Demo' (2008) and 'Repellings EP' (2009) with some other minor works and appearances on the underground scene.

"Saturnian Mist was established with the cabalistic idea of esoteric cults when adjusted into musical and artistic approaches, as based upon the ideas of fra. Zetekh which was to combine the occult together with musical expression. The influence of the occult and mysticism has explicitly defined the band's working ever since and has strengthened during the years into a fierce musical artillery that is imbued with varying influences from different areas of heavy metal.

"The 'Self-titled Demo' was released in February 2008 via French cult label Drakkar Productions which was known for introducing bands like Mütiilation, Watain and Deathspell Omega to the world. From the demo, the sound of Saturnian Mist evolved from a traditional Finnish black metal sound more toward harsh and straightforward black metal, of which full the embodiment was the 'Repellings EP.'

"Live shows started officially in 2009 with great success at the infamous Sathanas In Gloriam Festivals in Rotterdam, Netherlands and Black Sunrise Festivals in St. Petersburg, Russia. Saturnian Mist became quickly known with their energetic and powerful appearances that combined primordial rage together with devotional, even religious-like, ecstasy. During this time the band was still searching for an established line-up and the line-up changes in the first years of Saturnian Mist were common, but when fra. Ptahaz joined the collective in 2009 he became quickly an invariable part of Saturnian Mist and has remained so to this day. More...

"Stefan checking in from the studio, as promised. So, I spent the day in recording mode yesterday. Huge fun! My kit is set up and fine tuned just the way I want it and my drum sound is killer right off the bat!

"We went about this a little differently than what I'm used to, as Johan played along live as opposed to the conventional way of having a pre-recorded 'rough' guitar track. Anubis Gate Reveals New Album Details

The sixth album from Danish prog metal outfit Anubis Gate will be titled "Horizons" and is due for release on Nightmare Records (distributed by Sony/RED) this coming April 15th, 2014. The label comments:

"Anubis Gate hit the studio the summer of 2013 recording new opus 'Horizons,' which is unmistakably Anubis Gate’s sound yet goes again to new places. Places perhaps one would call daring.

"From the liquid grooves to uneven time signatures, trademark soundscapes and heavy, sometimes even thrash metal riffing you will know this is both in the tradition of the band yet breaks new ground. Anubis Gate blend 80’s melodic heavy rock, epic ambience and a contemporary dark layered progressive metal. Inspired by the likes of Savatage, Genesis, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, King Crimson, Iced Earth, Crimson Glory, Fates Warning, Lord Bane & Tad Morose yet always sounding completely unique.

"New guitarist Michael Bodin’s heavy riffing works exceptionally well in a duel with long time guitarist Kim Olesen. The forward driving drums, courtesy of new drummer Morten Gade Sørensen, are a treat in themselves. Henrik Fevres melodic vocals are even more amazing and heartfelt than ever before. 'Horizons' showcases the band on it’s highest peak."

The track listing is as follows:

1. Destined To Remember
2. Never Like This (A Dream)
3. Hear My Call
4. Airways
5. Revolution Come Undone
