Monsterworks Releasing "The Existential Codex"
Eat Lead & Die Music is pleased to announce the release of Monsterworks' "The Existential Codex" on February 27.
The six-track, 42-minute digital version of the album will be available as a free download, while the physical version of "The Existential Codex" is a 73-minute double-CD that comes in bonus Blu-Ray 5.1 Surround and HD stereo mixes. Vocalist/Guitarist Jon Higgs had this to say about the album:
"'The Existential Codex' is a natural progression from our previous release, Overhaul, and picks up/expands various ideas from that and, in fact, the last several albums. Musically, we are pushing our boundaries in all directions, although it is definitely metal at its heart. Lyrically, there is some kind of abstract story weaving through the album with a meaning that is a mystery to everyone involved, including me. As always with Monsterworks there is a common theme but no definitive answers. Nevertheless, hopefully 'The Existential Codex' will spark some independent thought along the way.
“From a technical standpoint this is the first time we have successfully gone all the way with a 5.1 surround mix which I believe is an interesting way to listen to music and opens up new possibilities. Not only that, it is worth mentioning that we strive to maintain dynamic range in metal and James Plotkin helped out again with a mastering job on the main stereo mix which does not crush the life out of it. If you know about the ‘Loudness War’, you know what I mean and, in fact, any true metal head should make it their business to demand the best possible source material for their headbanging pleasure.”

Thrash Band Starts Pointless Petition
Christopher Murray, vocalist for the Tragic Hero Records thrash/punk band Illuminate Me, has started a petition on Change.org in an (unquestionably futile) attempt to stop Facebook from charging pages to reach their fans.
The petition started on 2/19 at 11pm EST and is averaging 1,000 signatures an hour. If you feel the need to shout at the uncaring void, you can sign the petition at this location. Illuminate Me comments:
"Facebook has raised its rates on bands and small business's promoting themselves through their website several times over the last few years, asking to pay even more money to simply reach the audience the band or small business has already acquired. It's getting to a point where it's blatant greed and is unjustifiable. Bands like us for example, (especially the unsigned ones) pay Facebook a hefty amount of money for an ad, just to get potential new fans to visit our page. On top of that now, we must pay a LARGE fee to talk to the fans already subscribed to our page. So we're paying double on a service that we heavily rely on. It's an exploitation of what bands need the most: communication with their fan base.
"On my band's Facebook page for example (nearly 25k likes), I have paid up to 3k in Facebook advertising to get the amount of people connected to it that it has now. (On top of the heavy touring that we do) I need to pay Facebook now 150 dollars if I want one of my posts to reach all of the people that I already paid to get in the first place. I have talked to even bigger acts that rely on communication with their fan base to sell their product, and the price can get up to $2,000 or more. More...
Aelter Announces Fourth Album
Pesanta Urfolk today announces April 20th as the release date for Aelter's fourth album, "Aelter IV: Love Eternal."
One of several side-projects to emerge from the Wolvserpent camp, Aelter is a solo project of Blake Green. Known for a cinematically dreary dreamscape of doom-inspired darkness over the course of three albums, Green has steadily evolved the Aelter aesthetic from minimal, wide-open expanses of sound to the strange ambient-influenced slowcore first suggested by 2011's "Aelter III." The new album's track listing is as follows:
1. Intro
2. Death Eternal
3. Love Eternal
4. Life Eternal
5. Hope Eternal More...

Infernus Announces New Album
Moribund Records just set April 14th as the release date for Infernus' debut for the label, "Grinding Christian Flesh," which sports some truly classic artwork (check it out below). Moribund also comments:
"The Portland, Oregon quintet's second album, 'Grinding Christian Flesh,' is an explosive rush of blasphemous, pitch-black sound. With the ease of veterans, Infernus weave together the night-sky melodicism of classic Dissection and the filthy forward propulsion of ancient blackthrash ala classic Deastroyer 666. Full of blistering classics, each song is a finely honed force of immediate memorability and eternal headbangability that never gives a break from the infernal mayhem. From bloody beginning to fiery end, Infernus' 'Grinding Christian Flesh' does exactly what its title promises!"
A statement from Infernus reads: "Grinding Christian Flesh is a congregation of songs that we have performed over the past five to six years. Having trashed all the music and riffs that we didn't find strong or heavy enough, we kept only the music that still kicked you in the fuckin' teeth. The final quality was far greater than we had envisioned when we started. Get the studio ready and bring plenty of beer - our next album is on its way!" More...

Mirror Queen's driving music accelerates at the distinct point where NWOBHM and heavy prog rock intersect; a direct and definite delineation of an era when urgent metallic sound was the order of the day. The new album's track listing is as follows:
1. Scaffolds of the Sky
2. Quarantined
3. Strangers in Our Own Time
4. Vagabondage

Axel Rudi Pell Releasing "Magic Moments" DVD
Axel Rudi Pell will release "Magic Moments - The 25th Anniversary Concert" on April 28th in North America via SPV/Steamhammer.
It was a hot summer night and the beach was burning... Wrong song, wrong place! But the weather gods smiled on Axel Rudi Pell on that memorable magic evening of July 11th 2014: there had been a severe weather alert, but in the end the floodgates of heaven opened only during the last song of his regular set, the Rainbow classic "Long Live Rock´n´Roll."
"That was Ronnie James Dio crying from above," promoter Horst E. Franz speculated while bidding his farewells to the almost 15,000 drenched-but-happy fans at the festival site.
Three hours before the sun went down, creating a beautiful atmosphere at the Bang Your Head festival in Balingen, Germany, where Axel Rudi Pell celebrated his 25th anniversary as a solo artist with a once-in-a-life-time performance.
The CDs and DVDs document a show that is unlikely to ever be seen again in this constellation - a special present the protagonist had worked hard for. It took almost a year to set everything up. "The actual organization started in the summer of 2014 when the promoter and I went public with the idea of this event," Axel tells with obvious relief. He´s still very happy about how things have turned out. With a little help from his friends at his booking agency, the Bochum guitarist set up an extraordinary line-up. "It was mostly all about personal contacts," because after more than 30 years in the business Axel Rudi Pell is not only well-known, but also well-respected in the worldwide rock community, so the affix "& Friends" is not one of those usual exaggerations. Almost all of his favored candidates agreed on this one July date. More...

"Riotor, formed back in 2007 in Québec, are no newcomers in the underground metal circuit! "This one will be entitled 'Rusted Throne' and will include 10 new devastating songs to be released on CD & cassette. Artwork to be revealed very soon as well as one new song for streaming. Stay tuned!"
Lifeless Streaming "Never"
Revolver Magazine has released today the first single and opening track to "Dream," the sophomore LP from pummeling New Jersey metallic hardcore outfit, Lifeless.
Wearing the sounds of the band's East Coast hardcore heroes and peers with pride, a tumultuous undertow of downtrodden metal rage influences each anthem on the gloomy "Dream" LP, and setting the stage for the beating to follow is the lead track, "Never." Casting a brief sense of sad silence in its intro, things quickly go sour as the track kicks in with full force and opens up the forty-minute deluge of the album. Listen in below.
"Dream" will see release on CD, several colors of 12" vinyl, and through all major digital outlets on March 24th. The track listing is as follows:

Continuum Reveals New Album
The Bay Area death metal henchmen and recent Unique Leader signees from Continuum are readying to unleash their debut full-length, "The Hypothesis," this Spring.
The brain child of lead guitarist/composer Chase Fraser Decrepit Birth, Animosity), Continuum was forged in 2009 and features the current working lineup of Fraser alongside guitarist Ivan Munguia (Arkaik, Deeds Of Flesh), vocalist Riley McShane (Son Of Aurelius), bassist Nick Willbrand (Flesh Consumed) and drummer Spencer Edwards (Son Of Aurelius).
Recorded mainly by Fraser with additional tracking and mixing by Zack Ohren (Suffocation, Fallujah, All Shall Perish et al.) at Castle Ultimate Studios, "The Hypothesis" delivers a scathing assemblage of engaging and abrasive compositions steeped conceptually in the mysteries of the infinite and the early but no-less-relevant and unsolved theories of the "continuum hypothesis."
This hypothesis was studied by a number of mathematicians including Georg Cantor in 1878, many of whom committed suicide before reaching a conclusion to the unfathomable question of infinity. This theme is brought to life by the lyrics of Mcshane, the artwork of Raymond Swanland (Deeds of Flesh, Psycroptic, Suffocation), and the mathematical compositions of Fraser.
"The Hypothesis" will be released via Unique Leader Records on April 21st, 2015 with teaser tracks and preorder packages to be announced in the coming weeks. The track listing is: More...

Metallica Posts Footage From Corporate Concert
On February 9, Metallica played a corporate gig at Pier 48 in San Francisco at a party hosted by Salesforce.com, a cloud computing company. Official fly-on-the-wall footage shot by the MetOnTour reporter can be seen below. The clip includes footage of the band warming up in the tuning room, and "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" from the show.
Before Metallica agreed to its gig for Salesforce.com in 2011, the band stipulated that several hundred members of its fan club be allowed to attend free. After that concert, one fan wrote on a forum: "Everyone is just pretty much standing there motionless with their cameras out."
Metallica is currently working on material for its 10th studio album for a late 2015/early 2016 release. The new CD will follow up 2008's "Death Magnetic".
