Currently on a U.S. trek with Suicide Silence, Emmure's Frankie Palmeri has checked in with the following announcement about missing Colorado shows due to vocal problems:
"Hey Colorado, it's Frankie here. It's with a heavy heart I must inform you Emmure will not be performing at The Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins tonight (and possibly tomorrow night).
"I experienced a major tear in my vocal chords and my only chance in finishing the tour is to sacrifice getting to see all of our supporters tonight.
"I am already on my way to quick recovery and once again deeply apologize for anyone let down by the news.
"We love you all... this does not put the breaks on our current or future obligations but, I am human... these things happen." More...
The Pit: that magical place where sex, violence, property destruction, and a whole lotta head banging collide. We're on a never-ending quest to get the best pit stories in existence, which is why we check in with rock and metal bands from across the globe and tap into their tour stories.
For this week's Pit Story, drummer Brandon Burghart from Kansas-based outfit The Midnight Ghost Train shared this tale of Norwegians out of their minds on psychedelics:
We were playing a small freezing town in Norway on a weekday. The venue was basically a frathouse turned squatter paradise. The crowd were equal parts too old to hang out and too young to be there. Folks didn't so much rent a room as they rented one of several beds or couches in the place. We got there not knowing what to expect, but they reassured us that it was going to be a good night. There was also a rave cave in the basement with neon paint covering the walls and only lit by black light. The stage was pretty small as was the dance floor. We were headlining, so we waited around most the night while the other bands played.
That's when we noticed the crowd was starting to get a little strange. We figured it was what you got when Norwegians drank too much. Then my guitar player told me that a gang of Spaniards broke into the basement and started raving with their own boombox. They were quickly chased out by the bar owners. The last band finished and we started loading on stage. I think half the crowd had passed out by this time. We started playing and they jolted back to life moshing and destroying the room.
It was a bit frightening since the stage was about a foot tall. Much of the show was pushing people back trying not to get your knee dislocated when the nearest body pummeled into it. At one point I look over and a tiny woman has latched herself to Steve's back and he was trying to shake her loose. After being covered in various liquids and almost having our equipment destroyed, we finished our set. We later found out that the wine bottles that everyone had been passing around had been laced with an outrageous amount of acid. That mixed with the copious amount of drugs already available at the show turned it into one of the strangest nights of my life. We have since played there again but make sure we personally break the seal on any drink we open.
The Midnight Ghost Train's new album "Cold Was The Ground" is scheduled to drop on February 28th (EU) and March 10th (North America) via Napalm Records. Check out a lyric video off the album below. More...

Oslo-based stoner/sludge trio Rongeur is set to release “The Catastrophist & As The Blind Strive” demo recording, previously available on cassette via Aonair Productions, on CD this coming April 9th through Disiplin Media. The label comments:
"A collection of seven harsh and heavy tunes full of crushing riffs and downtempo grooves that reference equal parts Eyehategod, Neurosis and Kylesa, 'The Catastrophist & As The Blind Strive Demos' were produced by Pål Arntzen, Audun G. Jakobsen and Rongeur between 2013 and 2014.
"Rongeur is a stoner/sludge trio from Oslo, Norway made up of current and former members of Trollfest, Ampmandens Døtre and Exeloume. Since their start in late 2012, there have been no genre limitations, no rules, and no boundaries for Dag Ole (bass/vocals), Jostein (drums/vocals) and Ken-Robert (guitar/vocals), the only exception was that they wanted to make it sound raw and heavy.
"Embracing the crunchy, heavy riffing of bands like High On Fire and Kylesa and combining it with the sludgy rawness of Eyehategod, the three-piece have recorded two demo-tapes, 'Catastrophist' (2013) and 'As the Blind Strive' (2014), which were recently compiled on a cassette-release by Aonair Productions. These demo recordings will now see a much desired release on CD and digital by Disiplin Media.
"A collection of seven harsh and heavy tunes full of crushing riffs and downtempo grooves that reference equal parts Eyehategod, Neurosis and Kylesa, 'The Catastrophist & As The Blind Strive Demos' is scheduled for national release on April 9th (World: 13th of April) and will be supported by live action." The album concludes with a four-part epic, "Opaque Shadows In Framed Stillness," the duration of which makes up nearly half the record's length. Mastered by Agalloch's Jason Walton at Earth In Sound in October 2014, "Voir Dire" integrates black metal, doom and ambient music.

Today Morgoth has released a lyric video for the track "Snakestate" off the upcoming album, "Ungod." Century Media Records comments:
"'Snakestate' perfectly displays the trademark sound and musical variety of 'Ungod,' an album that turned out surprisingly diverse and fresh, capturing the essence of Morgoth by blending the ferociousness of the band's legendary EPs, 'Resurrection Absurd' and 'The Eternal Fall,' with the abysmal atmosphere of Morgoth's great classic albums, 'Cursed and Odium.'"

Hot on the heels of last week’s five band announcement, the Bloodstock Festival is excited to reveal five more acts.
First up is British outfit Lawnmower Deth, confirmed for the Sophie Lancaster Stage on Sunday. The band comments: “Motorbonce famously said, ‘if we move in next door, your lawn will die.’ Quite what positioned our forefathers to even remotely claim knowledge of horticultural metal is well beyond us. Scott Ian famously said, ‘I am the law’. In fact, this simply proves that adult literacy levels within the metal genre are in line with that of the national average; quite shit, when he clearly cannot spell and meant LAWN. In a Nostradamus kind of way what these two legends of metal were pointing you to was... 'Bloodstock 2015, when we move in you will die happy, we are Lawnmower and we is well excited. Let’s party like it’s 1988.'"
Taking over the Sophie Stage on Friday are raucous Brighton noisemakers Oaf. Chief bellower Dom Lawson exclaims, "We, the mighty Oaf, are honoured and delighted to have been invited back to our favourite festival. If you saw us in 2013, please don't hold that against us. Do come along and observe our ongoing descent into senility. If you haven't seen us before, we're like a middle-aged Royal Blood for people that don't wet the bed (and with added swearing). This will be a splendid occasion and we're tumescent with joy at the very thought of it. Cheers!"
Liverpudlian black metallers Ethereal will join the fray on the Sophie Stage on Saturday. The band is currently doing a stint with Marduk and Belphegor, supporting first full-length album "Opus Aethereum," released last month by Candlelight Records.
Sunday brings symphonic black metallers Saille all the way from Belgium to the Sophie Lancaster Stage. Expect to hear some new songs from latest, third album "Eldritch." Bringing the mischief and mayhem on Friday to the Sophie Stage, are Dirty Sanchez lads Pritchard Vs Dainton.
The currently announced lineup is:
Ronnie James Dio Stage

Banded together during the tumultuous years of the early 70s, proto-metal toufti JPT Scare Band fused a sound equally heavy in hard rocking blues as it was tripped out in psychedelia, creating a sound so imposing that it perfectly reflected the emotions of the era.
Formed by guitarist/vocalist Terry Swope, drummer Jeff Littrell, and bassist Paul Grigsby, JPT Scare Band began recording songs in a Kansas City basement and soon compiled a vault full of reel-to-reel tapes that would make up much of the band’s catalogue.
Though formed in 1973, JPT Scare Band’s first album, "Acid Acetate Excursion," wasn’t released until 1994, over twenty years after the band’s formation. In conjunction with Monster Records, the released two more albums, 1998’s "Rape Of Titan’s Sirens" and 2000’s "Sleeping Sickness."
The new millennium has seen JPT Scare Band delve deeper into the archive of recorded material accumulated through massive jam sessions throughout the 70s, as well as the 90s, and a flood of product was soon released. Through the band’s self-realized label Kung Bomar, seven albums hit the streets, including 2009’s "Rumdum Daddy." More...

Experimental post-black metal band Decline Of The I has teamed up with VS Webzine to launch an advance stream of new album "Rebellion" (due out on February 27th in Europe and March 10th in North America via Agonia Records). Listen to the full album at this location.
Band eader A.K. commented: "With this album, I wanted to express something more twisted and violant than the first one, but in a personnal way. I'm kind of sick of hearing all these bands that copy each others over and over... It's so pointless. It's obvious that more and more people are trying to follow a trend in order to exist somehow... With Decline of the I, you can be sure that you deal with my own neurosis, my own way of expressing my guts... I know it doesn't "speak" to everyone's ears. But I surely know that my art can really be intimate with ears that know how to listen. Eyes to see, ears to hear."
"Rebellion" was recorded in Studio de Chine with Khatchik Hovikian (L’odeur du Tchaman), while Xort (Seth, Alcest, Vorkreist, Anorexia Nervosa) took care of the mastering. Layout and artwork were created by the French photographer and filmmaker David Fitt (Aosoth, Secrets of the Moon, Svart Crown). "Rebellion" includes a guest appearance by Olivier from Eros Necrospique. The track listing is:
1. Lower degree of God's might
3. Le rouge, le vide et le tordu
