4Arm Announces New Album

4Arm is soon to release fourth album "Survivalist," which contains 8 tracks clocking in at 51 minutes and headed by new front man Markus Johansson. Mixing duties were once again handled by U.K. engineer Matt Hyde. The album artwork was designed by Colin Marks at Rain Song Design.

Singer and guitarist Markus Johansson had this to say about the album: "With 'Survivalist,' our goal was to take the material into new territory, while maintaining the sound that was previously established by the band. We wanted the album to have that familiar feel, but still stand on its own as a unique entity and not simply become a clone of the band's previous effort. Matt Hyde's production greatly accented the meticulous nature of the new tracks, bringing them to life in a way that highlights the detail we spent countless hours crafting."

Conceived By Hate Releasing Split With Akheron

On March 10th, Morbid Skull Records will release a double dose of destruction called "Coalition of Death," a split release featuring El Salvador’s Conceived By Hate and Colombia's Akheron. The album will come in 500 hand numbered copies, including 50 diehard versions with extras. Morbid Skull comments:

"Death thrashers Conceived By Hate begins the sinister proceedings with three original slash 'n burners and an incendiary rendition of Dissection's 'Thorns of Crimson Death.' Formed in 2002 by Morbid Skull Records owner and guitarist/vocalist Jorge Montesino (Disorder, Morbid Stench) with co-founders Carlos Basagoitia and Rene Vega, the El Salvadoran unit leaves behind nothing but scorched earth with their contribution. Conceived By Hate is currently working on its next full-length album and is in the midst of planning a European invasion.

"The second half of the split features the sonic mayhem and savagery for Akheron’s violent thrash! Featuring four tracks, including a wicked cover of Misft’s 'Where Eagles Dare,' Akheron continues their eardrum shattering assault with lyrical themes on the originals of existentialism, mental degradation, mankind’s warring territorial obsessions, and the continual downward spiral of what others might call daily life. Launched in 2003, Akheron is led by founder/composer/vocalist/guitarist Juan Guerra who along with bassist Julie Gomez, drummer Luis Galeano, and guitarist Jonathan Jimenez seeks only to destroy."

1. Devotees of Death [Conceived by Hate]
2. Hypocritical Sense of Ego [Conceived by Hate]
3. Embrace the Absurd [Conceived by Hate]
4. Thorns of Crimson Death (Dissection cover) [Conceived by Hate]

Adimiron Posts Guitar Video

Italian progressive metal act, Adimiron, has teamed up with Guitar World to launch a guitar play-through demonstration of the track "Liar's Paradox" from the band's fourth studio album, "Timelapse," out now on Scarlet Records. The video also shows off the band's new custom Overload Guitars model. Check it out below.

"For the first time in our career, and after much research and experimentation, we've found the perfect guitars made for our hands and perfect to express all our musical intentions," guitarist Thomas Aurizzi told Guitar World. "The versatility that we can get out of this guitar is just incredible, allowing us to play everything from death metal to jazz music with extreme simplicity and a perfect sound. Also, in a track like 'Liar's Paradox,' composed by a fast ride at the beginning and a proggy dynamic structure in the middle, this guitar shows versatility both in the rhythmic and in the solo parts. We're very proud of this new collaboration with Overload Guitars and can't wait to hit the stage and studio with our new axes."

"With Timelapse, we're trying to explore our relationship with the only aspect that cannot be modified in our lives: the flow of time," commented guitarist Alessandro Castelli. "The new album extends all our personal and daily feelings about the choices that compose our identity, a sort of glass sliding doors. But Timelapse is not only a mirror reflecting our inner tensions, it's like a 'portal' to our relationship with the surrounding world and how it's been modified from the beginning." More...

Sarpanitum Streams "By Virtuous Reclamation"

With the release of "Blessed Be My Brothers," the forthcoming new long player from atmospheric blackened death metal troupe Sarpanitum, now less than two weeks away, today the track "By Virtuous Reclamation" is thrust forward. Listen in below, courtesy of Stereogum.com.

Captured at Dreaming Studios U.K. by drummer Leon Macey (Contrarian, Mithras, The Senseless et al) and centered on the abysmal consequence of religious warfare, Sarpanitum's "Blessed Be My Brothers" heaves with a deliciously diseased synthesis of traditional death metal, blackened riff onslaughts, and perverse melodic atmospheres.

Relays guitarist/bassist Tom Hyde: "The song takes place during the Council of Clermont, specifically the speech given by Pope Urban II with the aim of manipulating Christian Europe into taking arms against Islam in the East and effectively starting what we now know to be the First Crusade. It is a grim reminder of how, throughout history, the elites exploit spirituality in order to make false claims and turn religions and races against each other in war. Musically it is filled with chaotic melody, brutally intense drumming and vibrantly ancient atmospheres." More...

Exhumed Streaming Full Album

Today Vice Magazine offers up Exhumed's "Gore Metal: A Necrospective 1998 - 2015" full-length in all its gruesome glory (also available below).

A genre-altering slab of venomous, jaw-jarring death-metal, "Gore Metal" was initially issued in 1998 and oozes audio repugnance with foul-themed, slasher-film-inspired verbiage and putrid cover art still abhorrently alluring nearly two decades since its unveiling.

Rather than let the opus decompose into dust however, Exhumed returned to the studio to revisit the underground classic, the results of which can be heard on "Gore Metal: A Necrospective 1998 - 2015." Adding depth and a new level of devious urgency to the proceedings thanks in no small part to years of touring and a vastly improved-sounding recording quality, this new edition still maintains the grinding, bone raw aggression of the original recordings. Apophys Reveals The "Prime Incursion"

The Dutch death metal practitioners from Apophys - featuring members of God Dethroned, Prostitute Disfigurement, Detonation and Toxocara among others -- are readying to release their debut full-length, "Prime Incursion," on April 7th via Metal Blade Records. The song "Requiem For The Absurd" can be heard below.

A word derived from Apophis, an asteroid that, upon initial observations, indicated a probability that it would hit Earth on April 13th, 2029 causing a collision of immeasurable proportions, Apophys was forged in 2012 and has since been surgically carving a path within the annals of the modern death metal scene.

Mixed by vocalist Kevin Quilligan and mastered by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance etc.), the band's forthcoming "Prime Incursion" long player boasts nine sadistic hymns of scif-fi tinged death metal centered on themes ranging from transcendental travel, rapid evolutionary progression, and global epidemics, to artificial intelligences in all-out war with their maker. Poison Idea Confirms Album Release Date

Poison Idea is preparing to release the band's first new album since 2006's "Latest Will and Testament."

Southern Lord Recordings, responsible for reissuing the band's back-catalog in recent years, is irresponsible enough to bring to you "Confuse & Conquer," now confirmed for U.S. release on April 7th, 2015. The label comments:

"Soaking up respect from generations of hardcore punks and dishing none out, the dastardly denizens of mid-paced punk shred are in trademark form on 'Confuse & Conquer.' With longstanding members Jerry A (vocals), Eric 'The Vegetable' Olsen (guitar) and Chris 'Spider' Carey (bass) alloyed by the fresh faces of Nathan 'Skinny' Richardson (drums) and Brandon Bentley (guitar), Poison Idea's brand new full-length proves itself both identifiable and rewarding to listeners who have encountered them at any point from their 1980 birth onwards.

"Inventive beyond its steadfast roots, yet altogether as blunt as a stagediver's knee hurtling towards your face, 'Confuse & Conquer' sees the band wasting not a single second on non-music activities, riding high on this wave of creativity. Their forceful hardcore pummel is underwritten with dark humor, rage, disdain, and moments of real melancholy well beyond the usual remit of the genre, but it's to be expected of Portland's nihilistic champions, proudly unaligned with any other sound out there. They were there at the beginning and they'll be there at the end, and in the meantime they have a lot more punk rock left to produce.

"'Confuse & Conquer' was recorded in their hometown by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise) at Audiosiege over the closing few months of 2014, and will see release via Southern Lord on the 7th of April on CD, LP and digital formats. Additionally, expanded reissues of seminal Poison Ideas titles 'War All The Time,' 'Feel The Darkness' and more are also in the works for the coming years. More...

Shining Premieres New Song "Vilja & Dröm"

Heavy metal has it's share of infamous outlaws, but as black metal enters it's third decade, Shining's Niklas Kvarforth continues to be its leading agent provocateur; inciting as much consternation among the "true" as he does fanaticism among the soon-to-be soiled minds of his growing legions of devotees.

Kvarforth's antics, opinions, and sometimes mere presence is accompanied by the gnashing teeth and wailing, tone-deaf opinions of the self-proclaimed genre "elite."

Shining adds yet more fuel to the fire with the brazen new album "IX / Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends," which is an altogether moodier and more reflective album than the band's previous works.

To give you a taste of what's to come, today we at Metalunderground.com are stoked to bring you the official premiere of new track "Vilja & Dröm," which can be heard below.

If you like what you hear, "IX - Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends" will drop via Season Of Mist on April 21st, with pre-orders available at the Season of Mist e-shop over here. The full album's track listing is:

Serenity Announces Split With Guitarist

Austrian symphonic power metal act Serenity announced the departure of guitarist Thomas Buchberger and vocalist Clémentine Delauney from the band. The band has decided to proceed without a permanent female singer, returning to its roots. Buchberger's permanent replacement has not yet been announced and the band has begun work on the follow up to "War of Ages" (see review here).

In a post on the band's Facebook page it states: "As a new year begins we took the time to look back on the past year and came up with new ideas, new inspiration and a fresher look over what Serenity is and should be. Since this common thinking lead us to some decisions, we have to share them with you.

"First of all, as you noticed, Serenity doesn’t have a permanent keyboard player and won’t have. However, as we enjoy playing live more than over samples, we have the chance that from time to time, Mario is still willing to join us on tour. When he is not available, we can rely on a great friend of our band, Franz-Josef who will step in with the incredible talent that is his own. So there will be gigs in 2015 either with one or the other but both matter to us and we appreciate their dedication very much.

"You must also have noticed that Tom officially said he was not going to perform any gig in 2014. He had to focus on his family and his job and for a time we would be honest to say that he had left the band. However, recently we heard from him that, if joining back on stage is yet not to be considered, he would still be willing to take part of the band’s life behind the scenes…and this means a lot to us.

"When all was still uncertain regarding the guitar player position, we were very lucky to have Cris with us on all gigs that were and are scheduled. His energy and will to take part of the band’s history is something we are very grateful for and we are looking forward to keeping sharing the stage with him as he is meant to remain our live guitar player still for a quite while. Rage Announces Split

Legendary German power thrash act Rage just announced the end of the current era of the band. After 15 years, the age of founding member Peavy Wagner and guitar/composer virtuoso Victor Smolski - which began with "Welcome of the Other Side" in 2001 - has come to an end.

A statement on the band's Facebook page reads: "Hi Rageheads, After thinking it over carefully, Peavy and Victor decided to stop working together in the future. This is due to musical and personal changes. We have developed in different directions in the last years that much, that we cannot identify with the current band situation anymore. In this situation we will also part from drummer André Hilgers.

"The last 15 years were blessed with many Highlights and great releases but this era is over now. Every extension would be untrue to ourselves and to our fans.

"We wish each other all the best! Thanx to all the fans for your trust and support!

'Peavy & Victor, Feb 2015"

Recently, Wagner joined forces with old bandmates guitarist Manni Schmidt and drummer Chris Efthimiadis to form Refuge - a tribute to the classic era of Rage when albums like "Perfect Man," "Trapped" and "The Missing Link" were released.

The band played its first official performance on board 70,000 Tons of Metal last week. There is no indication as to whether the current lineup of Refuge will assume as Rage, as that project is still considered to be a fun side project of friends playing classic Rage material in a live setting.

More information is expected soon. More...

The Body & Thou Posts New Music Video

The Body & Thou - a collaboration between the two bands The Body and Thou - is streaming a new music video for the song "Beyond the Realms of Dream, That Fleeting Shade Under the Corpus of Vanity" off the album "You, Whom I Have Always Hated" out on Thrill Jockey.

Being asked about where the clip was shot and who the person in the parka is Thou’s Mitch Wells explains: "The video was all done pretty easily, and cheaply! I only spent $30 on a strobe light, and the creepy person in the parka is my beautiful, beautiful, amazing wife Kathryn. Unfortunately for her we don’t really know too many people in Los Angeles yet so she’s forced, by marriage law, to walk around late at night scaring the neighbors. I would tell her things like, “Okay now act weird!” and she’d say, “What does that mean!? I don’t know what you want!!” I think she nailed it!"

You can now stream the eerie clip below.

Produced by Annihilated drummer Scott Fuller (also of Abysmal Dawn) the record hurls forth eleven mutinous, methodically-composed psalms of hate and hostility fueled by political/corporate disgust and societal revulsion. "XIII Steps To Ruination" features guest appearances by Sven De Caluwe (Aborted), Monte Pittman (Prong), Peter Truax (Vesterian, Eyes Of Fire) and Eric Stobel (Plaguereaper, P.O.R.).
