Stages Posts New Lyric Video

The Jacksonville, Florida-based metal newcomers from Stages have dropped their gripping debut single via Bryan Stars Interviews.

The song, which comes to listeners in the form of an artistically abrasive lyric video, is available below. The track also features a dynamic guest vocal spot from Steven McCorry of Rise Records band Exotype.

"'New War' is about anybody who has left me behind," said front man Aaron Berkshire on the lyrically transparent track. The song, which was produced by internationally-renowned music producer Joey Sturigs (The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria), is the first to come off of the band's debut EP of the same name.

Aaron Berkshire further comments: "I truly believe there is so much out in the world besides the normal. I have fought a lot of my own demons over my dreams and the heart and knowledge it takes to succeed. 'New War' is about anyone who has left me behind...you have only made me want to fight a battle to prove myself. This is 'forever our war' to fulfill what we feel we are born to do. It lives and burns inside everyone of us. Forget about the past and remember. It is time to move on. This is a new war." More...

YDI Announces Discography Spanning Release

This April, Southern Lord will release the complete discography of Philadelphia's hardcore crew, YDI. This double-LP document contains every known recording of the band, as well as a 10" x 10" full color photo book with tons of never before seen images from the band's existing recorded era. Southern Lord comments:

"In the early 1980s, YDI (why-die) put Philadelphia on the map with their ferocious brand of speed-obsessed hardcore. Their debut 7" EP, 'A Place In The Sun,' released in 1983, is a nine-track blast of frantic American hardcore fury, with blistering pace and heaps of fuzz that make your speakers crackle.

"Come 1985, the band had altered their musical direction, and created filthy, metallic, damaged punk that constantly spirals out of control via scraping guitar-led detours; if you've heard Brutal Truth's cover of the deranged 'I Killed My Family' you'll recognize the unhinged sense of danger that permeates YDI's output. The 'Black Dust' LP was the band's final recording and a criminally underrated slab of disgusting mayhem.

"Those interested in hearing lesser known original punk documents which still have the capability to amaze should make a point of getting to grips with this comprehensive collection of YDI's crucial output." More...

Zombi Recording New Album

Progressive instrumental duo Zombi has begun recording a sixth full-length and first new album in over four years.

The album will be self-produced by the band and recorded at Machine Age Studios in Pittsburgh, PA and Steve Moore Private Studio in Central NY State. The disc will see a release later this year via Relapse Records.

The record, which will consist of nine new songs and clock in at over 60 minutes, was heavily inspired by the band touring in 2013 with Italian prog legends Goblin. Their first tour in over six years allowed the duo to play as a band again instead of a collaborative studio project. Steve Moore commented on the new material:

"It's a rock record - think of it as a follow up to Surface to Air. There are no techno jams or symphonic prog fantasies. No solo track interludes. It's dark and heavy. Live drums on every song and lots of bass guitar. We have officially moved from 'studio project' mode back into 'live band' mode." More...

New Rock Band Finally Coming?

Remember late night drinking while belting out some Metallica, Devildriver, or even Emperor with your buddies back when music games where still a thing?

For awhile there they were the biggest thing in gaming, with friends getting together every weekend to drag out the fog machines, drums, plastic guitars, and mics. Unfortunately over saturation with too many games, released too quickly, and featuring too many different large investment devices, prematurely killed the genre.

Rock Band hasn't released a full game since 2010 with "Rock Band 3," and the era of the game truly came to an end in 2013 when no more official DLC was being released.

It looks like the current generation of consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) will be getting a new Rock Band iteration however. Harmonix, the creator of Rock Band, recently issued a survey asking fans if they'd like to see a new version of the game for the latest consoles, after which a variety of sites such as Tech Times and Polygon released stories about how the game is now in active development. The Era Of Endast Is Ending

All great things must come to an end, as Montreal's iconic DIY metal band Endast has called it quits.

Since being birthed in 2004, the band's career has spawned The Promise” EP (2005), “Odds Against Tomorrow” (2006), “Black Cloud” (2011), “Thrive” (2014), a DVD release "Where I Belong” (2012), 600,000 kms for over 1,300 gigs, countless tours across Canada and the USA that included festival appearances at Heavy MTL & TO, and more. Before the end, Endast will be performing final shows in the following cities:

April 17 - Montreal, QC - Foufounes Electriques
April 24 - Ajax, ON - Rotilicious
April 25 - Hamilton, ON - Absinthe

Vocalist Big James comments: “Well, as these things so often go, the band was on shaky ground after the recent departure of our guitar player Pepe. His departure sparked a lot reflection and discussion on behalf of the remaining members in the band about where we are in our lives. Some of us have other goals outside of the band we'd like to accomplish. The amount of touring we do makes it prohibitive for some of us to accomplish those other goals and so a decision was made to close this chapter in our lives. We all care for each other a great deal and there are no hard feelings between any of us. Some of us will continue to make music together. All of us will continue to make music on some level or another. More...

Kamelot Announces New Album "Haven"

Symphonic metal act Kamelot return after two years of touring the globe and twelve months of intense writing and recording. In mid-2014 the band entered the studio to begin recording their follow-up to the highly acclaimed chart topping album "Silverthorn" (see review here). The new album titled "Haven" will make Kamelot history as it will be released worldwide (excl. Asia) on Napalm Records/Universal and Napalm Records/ADA/Warner as an exclusive licensing deal through the band's Kamelot Music LLC on May 5, 2015 (North America) and May 8, 2015 (Europe and rest of the world).

Today the artwork and track listing have been unveiled. "Haven" will be available to pre-order in multiple exclusive and limited bundle packages at the Napalm Records American & European Webstore - starting Thursday, February 26, 2015.

The new album features all the signature elements of Kamelot but the band steps out to add new and modern elements along with bringing some amazing emotions that harken to the band's earlier days. Kamelot's artsy music is chock full of symbolism relating to how the band feels about the world and the current state of civilization.

"The 'Haven' album has an undertone of a world going insane. There is a grey cloud that is forming over our world. We are here to find that silver lining with an album that is both dark and melancholy yet uplifting and giving the listener a 'Haven' in a world gone mad. We are really proud of the song elements and diversity on 'Haven'" adds guitarist Thomas Youngblood. "The songs run the gambit of dark and melancholy to uplifting and melodic elements." states vocalist Tommy Karevik.

"'Haven' has an aggressive edge to it that is the representation of the band as The Revolutionary Change in the storyline," Kamelot's Oliver Palotai tells us. More...

Entombed A.D. Posts Pro-Shot Live Footage

Pro-shot live footage of Entombed A.D. performing the song "Kill To Live" on August 8, 2014 at the Bloodstock Open Air festival, UK can be seen below.

In an interview vocalist Petrov stated about the band's decision to release "Back To The Front" under the name Entombed A.D in order to avoid a legal battle with Entombed guitarist Alex Hellid who didn't want his former bandmates to use the Entombed moniker: "It had to be done, because without an album you can't tour. I mean, you can tour, but if there's 7 years between albums, it's ridiculously long. So we did the right thing, and we did what bands should do, and still do - release an album and go on tour and headbang and have a good time with friends, and that's what it's all about."
