HOD Recruits New Bassist
San Antonio blackened death horde HOD is pleased to officially induct bassist ZVS Gastelum into its infernal ranks. Gastelum comes by way of Texas black metal legion, Plutonian Shore, as well as Gnostic, and replaced longtime HOD comrade Robert "Trans AM" Coleman.
Comments the band, "Changes suck but sometimes they have to happen. After many years of service and brotherhood our brother Robert 'Trans AM' Coleman is no longer in HOD. TA will be missed for sure. We hope he gets everything he wants with his current projects and future endeavors. Best of luck to you, brother!
"We would also like to welcome ZVS Gastelum. ZVS had been filling in on bass while TA was out with Goatwhore, and did a great job. So the choice to bring ZVS into the fold was an easy one to make. ZVS fronts his own band Plutonian Shore, and brings with him many years of live experience. The guy will crush your skull! We are stoked to get out on the road with this demon and unleash hell!"
In related HOD developments, the band will bring bestial hymns to the stage of the 5th Quarter Lounge in Indianapolis tonight with Carpathian Funeral followed by a performance in Chicago the following evening. HOD will also devour New Orleans and Miami in the coming weeks with additional live invasions in the plotting stages.

Rave The Reqviem Posts "Aeon" Video
Swedish electronic metal act Rave The Reqviem - the auditory equivalent of repeating flashing lights that cause seizures - is breaking into the American scene with the premiere of a graphic new music video for "Aeon."
The song comes off the band's latest record, "Rave The Reqviem," which was released internationally via Japanese-based label Digital World Audio last April. Rave The Reqviem mastermind Filip Lönnqvist, who fronts the band alongside his mother Carola, said this about the new video:
"Since I'd consider myself being a pretentious and ambitious perfectionist, I'm stunned by the fact that these guys managed to deliver a music video which made me 100% satisfied. It's the perfect visual propaganda for our grotesque little sect."

Commented guitarist Marcus Siepen: “After being in the studio we need to relearn, or rearrange everything for a live performance. We have to consider exactly which parts to play and how to share them. Is André also playing rhythm guitars or am I supposed to accompany him on lead guitars, stuff like that.”
Adds drummer Frederik Ehmke: “Live is always different from the studio. In the studio we can capture a perfect drum sound and it is all about tiny details. Live everything needs to fit together perfectly so that the overall sound of the band is good.” More...

His voice added another dimension of mysticism on our 'Enki - Divine Nature Awoken.'
"Rob and I always wanted to collaborate and he is an agile and excellent guitar player so the lead he did on 'The Palm, the Eye and Lapis Lazuli' was perfect , it rocks and serves the track well. They all did an outstanding job and went above and beyond to make it happen despite their busy schedules. Melechesh is more than a band - it is a society!" More...

Napalm Death Posts New Video
The 15th studio album, "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" by U.K. grind pioneers Napalm Death is released as of today in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Finland via Century Media Records. North American fans can pick up a copy starting Tuesday, January 27th.
To celebrate the album's first release, a special promotional video clip for the short and intense track "Smash A Single Digit" is being debuted today. Check it out below, thanks to Decibel Magazine.
The video for "Smash A Single Digit" was directed and produced by Michael Panduro, who has previously worked for bands like Cephalic Carnage, Saint Vitus, and Job For A Cowboy. The video is made up of 1,093 unique drawings, each one hand-drawn in ink on paper by artist Lisbet Fredslund and 225 of the drawings are of the face of Napalm Death vocalist "Mark "Barney" Greenway, who checked in to comment the clip as follows:
"Couldn't be happier with the 'Smash A Single Digit' video clip. It shows nothing of dignity or life's fundamental pleasures - only a snapshot of those unfortunate enough to only be deemed as numbers for production quotas in this world. When a 'digit' has therefore been expended, it is rubbed out (or consumed leaving no trace, as in the case of this video). In my opinion, Michael Panduro and the team produced a real work of art and I think the general style holds some really nice future artistic possibilities for Napalm Death." More...

Interview
Interview With Monument Of Misanthropy
Christy Lee of "All Things Metal" has written an article on the metal scene and the society within the genre that we all know and love. She also had the opportunity to chat with George Misanthrope of the band, Monument of Misanthropy. Check out some excerpts below (read the entire interview HERE):
CL: How did you guys end up with Romain Goulon drummer of the band Necrophagist in your band?
GM: Romain is a very good and old friend of Jean Pierre Battesti. They were jamming together before Romain got famous for being the drummer of the technical death metal innovators Necrophagist. Unlike Necrophagist the stuff JP and Romain played at that time was pretty much brutal death metal with old-school death metal and grindcore elements- Brutal and fast but with some Napalm Death & Terrorizer groove in it. JP who already knew me from “Raising The Veil” one day asked me if I want to try out some vocals on some songs he had pre-produced with Romain. And I of course said yes, because I liked the brutality and straight in you face-punch of the songs. So for all of us in “Monument Of Misanthropy” the album is also kind of a tribute to the early days of pure, upright and unpretentious death metal, which defined the 3 of us as young musicians.
CL: How do you feel about how today’s society likes to categorize metal sub-genres?
GM: I think its human, which doesn’t mean it is ok or that I like it. People especially growing up kids long to be part of something they can or want to be identified with. It also has to do with insecurities during adolescence. Anyways what really matters is that someone really likes the music genre and it’s a message and ideals which he or she’s listening to. I never thought it was cool to be a thrash metal fan when I listened to thrash or later a death metal fan listening to death metal. I just liked the music and the people I met in metal record-stores (yes we had to buy our music at that time), clubs and at shows. But it has always been and probably always will be that people of one genre try to tell you that his genre is the best ever and that what you’re listening to is total crap. I never tried to persuade someone to any kind of metal genre. If a friend didn’t like what I listened to it was ok I kept listening to it. Best practice for dealing with metal elitist preachers: Ignore them, end of story.
CL: If you were to evolve heavy metal, how would you do so? More...
