Cobalt Issues Band Update
Erik Wunder from Colorado-based outfit Cobalt has checked in with the following update about the band's status:
"It is with great sadness that I have to announce the following: I will be moving forward with Cobalt without my brother Phil.
"His recent activities have made it impossible for the two of us to continue on a creative path. We started Cobalt 12 years ago, and our music has carried us through many storms. I am extremely proud of what we have done. But our ideals no longer match, and it is time to keep going.
"I’ve been working rigorously on the material for ‘Slow Forever,’ and I am set to enter the studio in June 2015 to begin tracking. The loss of Phil is a devastating blow, but I can’t let what has happened stop me from completing my work.
"I am still unclear as to who will be doing the vocals on the album. I have some people in mind. Or I may do them myself. We’ll see. But it is ultimately sad to lose Phil’s relentless presence and savage force.
"More will be posted as it develops. Thank you to everyone who has supported Cobalt over the years and continues to support the band."

California outfit So This Is Suffering has issued the follwoing announcement about releasing an upcoming album:
"This year we are releasing our new album. For each member this album represents every journey we've ever experienced in life, every emotion we've ever felt, and every hardship we've ever faced. This album isn't just going to be released to make money or become rockstars. We want to touch hearts.
"We put thought into every song. We made sure its non stop sickness from start to finish. No bullshit filler riffs. No lazy generic song formats. No typical breakdowns. No cheesy lyrics.
"Everything came straight from the heart. Lately it seems like bands are just in this for the wrong reasons and it saddens us. We hope that this album in some way inspires you to re-valuate what your life means to you.
"Good things are to come and faith in metal will be restored."

Former Amberian Dawn Bassist Passes Away
Finland's Amberian Dawn has released the following statement online about the band's former bass player passing away:
"Some tragic and sad news. Tommi Kuri, our ex-bassist has passed away. This shocking news hit all of us really hard.
"Tommi was a kind man and always tried to help other people too. He was one of the founding members of Amberian Dawn and played on 3 three albums. Tommi was also one of the key characters who helped AD on it's early steps and in the early years he was also kind of managing the band.
"Tommi was always the guy who kept the wheels rolling and took care of the important matters and band members too. Tommi's spirit will live on in all of us who knew him and also in music of all the bands he played with.
"I knew that he had some health issues and that's why he was forced to leave AD back in 2011. He did it with heavy heart. But nobody knew how serious his condition was until now when we got this dramatic news. In fact I saw him only a couple of days ago and he was really acting like he always did: in a funny, joyful and helpful way. More...
