Houston death machine War Master is once again rolling. Bassist Trans Am has returned from an extensive tour with Goatwhore and the band has enlisted Dobber Beverly as its new drummer to fill in the void left by Jon West.
Beverly's entrance into the band marks a reunion with ex-Insect Warfare members Rahi Germifar and Neal Dossey. He also has played in numerous underground Texas bands including Demoniacal Genuflection, Oceans of Slumber, Viral Load, Images of Violence and Sect of Execration. Beverly comments on joining the group:
"I ran into Rahi at a show and he asked me if I was interested in jamming some old school death metal, and at the time I didn't have any space in my schedule for it. Fast forward a few months and they were still without a drummer. Neal and Rahi then talked to me about helping them write new material, I'm a guitarist too, and I said 'hell yeah.'"
The band is hard at work on two new songs for the tentatively titled "Primitive Evil" demo cassette, with the first rehearsal on the first day of the winter solstice, the darkest day of the year. The new material is expected to show the group at its fastest.
Although the Black Metal Warfare tour officially kicked off last night, fans unfortunately missed Mayhem in its full glory performing alongside Watain and Revenge. Mayhem issued this statement about missing a few shows at the start of the trek:
"Due to a visa delay, Mayhem is forced to cancel our shows in Philadelphia and Baltimore on the Black Metal Warfare tour.
"We are planning to join the tour in NYC. The Philly and Baltimore shows will continue with Watain and Revenge. 50% of the band is in New York awating the situation.
"It's out of our hands right now and we are working very hard to resolve it. Hope this will resort very soon! N.Y tomorrow is still happening." More...

Next week, East Of The Wall guitarist Matt Lupo will release the most ambitious recordings to date from his solo outfit, Opul, through latest EP "Levels." In advance, Stereokiller.com has released the track "Presence." Listen in at this location.
The fourth chapter Lupo will release under the Opul banner in less than three years, "Levels" takes the multi-instrumentalists' work to new realms, both in exploration and delivery. The EP is full of guitar-driven, super-melodious, heavy rock riffage that aims for the stratosphere. The track listing is as follows:
2. Velocity & Saturation
Sweden's Watain is still riding high on the success of latest album "The Wild Hunt" (reviewed here) - which pushed the boundaries of black metal and experimented beyond what many fans were expecting.
Now the band has officially landed on North American shores to wage black metal warfare with Mayhem and Revenge (full tour dates here).
Just a day before the trek kicked off, we got in touch with Watain's front man E. (Erik Danielsson) to discuss the tour and upcoming activity from the band. While he was evasive about whether or not new material is in the works or if new songs would be played on the trek, E. had plenty to say about the process of coming to the U.S. for touring and how the media has reacted to the group's stage show. Norwegian black metal band Endezzma has inked a deal with Pulverised Records for the release of a sophomore full-length album.
The finishing touches are currently being applied to the album, and it is anticipated that it will be released in the spring. Commenting on the move to Pulverised, frontman and founder Morten Shax had this to say:
“We’re excited to be working with the guys from Pulverised as they have shown that they understand the band and what we are trying to achieve with our music, and that they are willing to work with us to that end.”
The album will follows 2012’s “Erotik Nekrosis,” with full details still forthcoming. Aside from Shax on vocals, Endezzma’s lineup also includes Mattis Malphas (Beastcraft, Koldbrann) and Nihil on guitars, Carl Balam (Troll) on drums, and the most recent addition, Jimmy Lucifer on bass.
“We have a superb lineup now” explains Shax, “musicians who are experienced, skilled and hungry – perfect for Endezzma in other words. I don’t want to give anything away about the new album, and we will be announcing more details soon, but fans can expect a high level of aggression and musicianship.”

Psycho Charger has teamed up with the Los Angeles-based ultra-loud and heavy dark ambient/noise outfit The Black Goat Uprising for a one of a kind twang-o-delic jam tribute to Twin Peaks.
This tune is locked, loaded, and fired straight to the center of your black heart…it's a 6-minute, 9 second heavy hitter that was recorded entirely in "Doom-O-Phonic" sound.
This song was originally scheduled to appear on the Psycho Charger release "Spawn of the Psycho," but was left off due to time constraints of the vinyl release. Grab a copy at iTunes or over at Amazon.
What's even better, by downloading this song you will be helping out No-Kill Los Angles Animal Shelters as a portion of the proceeds from this song will be donated to the NKLA so that no pet will ever have to die in a shelter again simply because they do not have a home.
Incantation today premieres a new video for "Impalement of Divinity," which can be seen below courtesy of Decibel Magazine. The track hails from Incantation's latest album, "Dirges of Elysium," released last year by Listenable Records.
The video for "Impalement of Divinity" was created by Black Arts Media and was filmed at the Vermilion Haunted Schoolhouse / Terror In The Field in Vermilion, Ohio. Says Incantation founder John McEntee:
"For its notable aggression and speed, amidst the new album's other tracks, we've chosen 'Impalement of Divinity'! Bringing visual blasphemy to our most recent release, Dirges of Elysium, with commemorative 25th anniversary graphics throughout. Let this praise of the infernal be for all of you who made our path this quarter century such as it is."
The video premiere also kicks off a string of West Coast tour dates for Incantation, with Funerus as direct support. The confirmed dates and venues are as follows:

Boasting members of Pig Destroyer, Misery Index, and Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Fulgora is a nihilistic grindcore/death collective devising violent hymns of audio destruction.
Melding death, grind, and hardcore-laden vulturine vocal incursions, the band's sadistic output is the sound of a world gone rotten with apathy, disease, and decay.
A name representing the female personification of lightning in Greek mythology, Fulgora will release a full-length debut via Philip H. Anselmo's Housecore Records this Spring. Titled "Stratagem," the seven-track bruiser is a sinister collection of limited vinyl singles and samples.
Check out a new audio/visual rendering of the track "Meridian" below. The full track listing is as follows:

Dubai extreme metal band Voice of the Soul today releases a brand new song entitled "Pendulum" from forthcoming debut album "Catacombs."
The album will be released on March 27th, 2015 distributed via U.K. label Hell's Hammer & India's Transcending Obscurity. Vocalist and guitarist Kareem Chehayeb comments:
"This is song was inspired by the mass suicide of Jonestown that took place in 1978, but the lyrical content applies to so many political groups and cults whose leaders exploit the poor and disenfranchised for their own gain.”
The album's artwork was designed by Hamood Hallak of MHD Graphics, and was inspired by the concept of "Pendulum." Kareem elaborates: "While it appears evident that there is a priest/figure leading sheep, the cliff that they are about to walk off is within the temple itself. We don’t specify whether it’s religious or not, because religion isn’t the sole focus. It’s political, it’s social."
The album's track listing is as follows:
2. Perpetual Deception
5. Cold Rupture
6. The Mist
9. Images Subside More...
With the re-unveiling of Exhumed's now-iconic full-length, "Gore Metal: A Necrospective: 1998 - 2015," now just one month away, today you can decimate your ear holes with a renovated version of longtime live favorite, "Limb From Limb." Listen in below, thanks to a stream hosted by Revolvermag.com.
Expounds vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey: "So... for the second 'single' from our hubris-laden rerecording of Gore Metal, here's live staple 'Limb From Limb.'
"This one has been rerecorded pretty much exactly how we've played it live for years now; faster and a bit punchier than the original - not to mention infinitely more audible - and with the lovely chainsaw solo in the bridge. Now that's what I call musical development!
"Anyway, it's a great tune to piss off some neighbors with and will hopefully inspire you to find new and atrocious uses for your motorized home and garden appliances. Cheers, and enjoy!" More...

In the light of the upcoming release date for 15th studio album "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" on January 27th, 2015 in North America via Century Media Records, Napalm Death is now streaming a new track online.
Check out the song "How The Years Condemn" below, courtesy of Stereogum.com. Napalm Death's bassist Shane Embury checked in with the following comment about the song:
"Musically I wanted this track to encompass lots of different rhythms and nuances in the short space of time which the song occupies, which I hope we achieve, and that it bursts with an intensity and emotion to match the theme of the lyrics!
"Lyrically it's a departure from the rest of the new album as its self-reflective - a couple of years ago I was hospitalized prior to a very important tour and was forced to miss out on going and had to stay at home. More importantly I realized in the time I was in hospital that I really had to make a choice which was either to carry on down the same path of selfish destruction as I had seen some of my friends embark on or stay around for the people I loved and who loved me!
"Yes, it's a familiar story, no doubt. but it was an awakening for me which I very much needed and shortly after I was blessed with the birth of my daughter so I am glad I made the right decision... We are not invincible - Nor are we indestructible. There are choices - points of return..." More...
My Kingdom Music is absolutely delighted to announce the upcoming debut album by Omrade. The label comments:
"The album titled 'Edari' is a pure masterpiece of the avantgardish Music, expression of the confluences of trip hop and ambient electronica and metal, exploring the post industrial music and post rock and will see the light on My Kingdom Music on April 13th, 2015.
"Inspired by general decadence over the years, Omrade serves you the finest tunes of visionary and surrealist music with the use of unconventional instruments like saxophone, trumpets and delirant voices. This is definitively an album for fans of Manes, Ulver, Gazpacho, God is an astronaut, Dodheimsgard! So expect a masterpiece that will change your attitude towards this kind of sounds." More...
Thrashing black metal outfit Melechesh recently released a lyric video for the song "Multiple Truths." After fan requests about the background of the song, Melechesh mainman Ashmedi sat down to explain:
"The song came about while I was having an interesting conversation with a friend. Many claim an absolute singular truth, but it is not as simple. There are several ideas that not necessarily negate each other.
"On the other hand many dogmas and paradigms claim to offer a truth but what angle makes them so arrogant and vain to claim their point is truth. There is a dual tone here, there are several truthful ideas and there are as well many lies.
"Who knows - maybe all so called supernatural beings or dogmatic figures were and are amongst humans advancing their agendas and civilizations but also maybe manipulating it to control or for a certain cause. It could be the Annunaki or even otherwise. So it is a reflective song. From the term 'Multiple Truths' the guitar riff stemmed and thus the whole song!"
The song comes off the band's upcoming album, "Enki," which follows the 2010 album "The Epigenesis." More...
Here's one of life's most critical questions. Who's ready to shred? The answer is quite simple. It's those Finnish rockers in Santa Cruz, a quartet of long-haired, leather-clad, Motorhead-shirt wearing young turks who aspire to one thing in life and that's to R-O-C-K.
The band will release a new album via Spinefarm this year, but in the meantime, Guitar World just released the "Shred Til You Drop Vol. 2" clip, which is exactly what the title implies. Check it out below. More...
U.K. based modern thrash band Sylosis has made the entire upcoming album, "Dormant Heart," available for streaming. Give it a listen through Nuclear Blast here.
Despite the name, "Dormant Heart" is not a peaceful album: It’s about a powerful force unleashing anger against everyday injustice and a sleeping society that lets these things wash over them.
Speaking about the album Josh Middleton states: “It's the most pissed-off, aggressive and intense album we've done, yet it still retains the epic, progressive and melodic side we're also known for. It's a very gloomy and atmospheric album. We've been through a lot as a band and individuals and we've made our darkest album to date.”
The album's track listing is:
1. Where The Wolves Come To Die
2. Victims And Pawns
3. Dormant Heart
4. To Build A Tomb

"Cradle Of Filth guitarist hextraordinaire Rich 'Haunted' Shaw has now finished tracking all his guitar tracks for the upcoming 2015 opus nocturne, code-named 'Hammer Of The Witches,' out 26th June via Nuclear Blast... And it's sounding (un)holy fucking awesome to boot!
"Next week Richard will be back in deepest, darkest Suffolk and Grindstone studios for a couple of days of solos and lead overdubs, then it will be the turn of Scottish bassist Daniel Firth to add his prowess to the general evil melee.
"Stay tuned for further updates on this musickal misadventure, which promises to be Cradle's most anticipated release to date prior to a long, dirty black Summer of European festival appearances before the band head off to the States for the Autumn equinox."

Lars Jensen and his one-man folk metal project Myrkgrav is finally out with new material – the independently released digital exclusive single "Vonde Auer."
"Vonde Auer" continues where "Sjuguttmyra," the band’s most recent musical effort from 2013, left off: old-fashioned folk metal in which Jensen blends old and new in a manner distinctly Norwegian – including extensive use of Norway’s national instrument: the Hardanger fiddle, masterfully executed by folk musician Olav Luksengård Mjelva.
"Vonde Auer" features lyrics based off of folklore from Ringerike in Norway, Lars Jensen’s homelands. Give it a listen below. The single's track listing is:
1. Vonde Auer
2. Vonde Auer (Traditional Version) More...
Roadburn Festival is pleased to kick off the new year with a handful of new confirmations, plus the addition of a fifth stage. Tickets for the 20th edition of the festival are on sale now.
Minsk, Mount Salem, and Worm Ouroboros have been added to the line up at the 013 for Thursday, April 9th. Having previously performed at the 2009 edition of the festival, Minsk return to Roadburn, bringing an atmospheric, meditative ambience, offset by raging thrust. Look out for plenty of canyon-sized riffs, trippy sounding keyboards and enchanting vocals when Mount Salem conjurs a crushing windstorm to blow through Roadburn, whilst Worm Ouroboros will be spinning diaphanous webs of the most delicate chamber doom.
New Orleans heavyweights Goatwhore lead the charge, followed by Germany's Downfall of Gaia, noise-hardcore trio Cortez, and a dual-pronged sludge attack from both Fister and Moloch as the first bands announced for the intimate Cul de Sac venue.
As with the 2014 edition, Roadburn's fifth stage will be at Cul de Sac - a small music café located across from the 013 venue at 48 Heuvel, which is the street lined with bars and restaurants (also affectionately known as “Weirdo Canyon”). Four bands will perform at Cul de Sac on each day of the festival, Thursday - Sunday. Entry to these shows is sure to be in high demand, so attendees are advised to arrive early to secure access.
With regret, the festival's organizers have to announce that Lord Mantis will no longer be performing at Roadburn 2015. The band is unable to make it over to Europe due to personal reasons; as a result the performance at Roadburn and any shows around that will be cancelled. The vacant slot on the line up will be taken by Ohio sludge titans Fistula. More...

From Montreal Canada, Dethfox delivers gloomy anarcho-punk with short and catchy songs. Mysterious, dark, and sometimes incomprehensible lyrics expose religious-media-space-traveling-matters and other obscure themes.
Dethfox started in late 2012 and released its first demo in October 2013 followed by a first live appearance at A Varning from Montreal Fest on November 9th, 2013. Dethfox remained active throughout 2014 sharing the stage with such acts as Cress, Rick Agnew, Kicker, Dekoder, Parasytes and more.
Dethfox's "Natural Media Teleforce" will be released on Chaos Rural Records on January 20th, 2015. The band's first LP is in the works and is due to be released in later in the year. More...
It is the year 1895. The mysterious gentlemen's club of A Forest Of Stars publicizes its fourth opus in the current format of a phonograph cylinder: "Beware The Sword You Cannot See," set for North American release on March 3rd via Lupus Lounge (a division of Prophecy Productions).
With this offering, A Forest Of Stars make good on the promise given on its predecessor, 2012's "A Shadowplay For Yesterdays." The compositions are more adventurous and bold, more eccentric and progressive, yet still melodic and accessible like never before. Conceptually, A Forest Of Stars likewise hark back to older issues and develop them further.
Whereas "A Shadowplay For Yesterdays" depicted moral decay based on an individual fate, "Beware The Sword You Cannot See" transfers the topics of demise and insanity into metaphysical spheres. Accordingly, the sound alchemists' music becomes more universal. The new album's track listing is as follows:
1. Drawing Down the Rain
2. Hive Mindless
3. A Blaze of Hammers
4. Virtus Sola Invicta
5. Proboscis Master Versus the Powdered Seraphs
6. Part I: Mindslide
7. Part II: Have You Got a Light, Boy?
8. Part III: Perdurabo

The symphonic metal artist Leah issued a lyric video for the new track "This Present Darkness" from her upcoming release "Kings & Queens." The album is set for release on January 30th in Europe and on February 3rd in North America through Inner Wound Recordings.
"Kings & Queens" features musicians such as Timo Somers and Sander Zoer of Delain and Barend Courbois of Blind Guardian and Vengeance. Dubbed the heaviest of all her releases, the album dabbles in worldly Celtic, middle eastern, and New-Age flavors, while lyrically laced with epic imagery of dystopias, fallen empires, spiritual warfare, love and destiny.
Leah commented on the new album: "Kings & Queens is an important album to me, as the songs cover a range of emotions, musical styles and lyrical themes. One theme in particular is the historical and metaphorical grip around our throats we feel from top-down agendas that threaten our freedoms. It seems to be a never-ending game of chess between those who demand power and those who would preserve freedom. It's the theme of every good fantasy book and film, and the message rings true for even our modern world. In addition, the the line-up and stellar musicianship of the guys who came on board this project heightened the sheer epicness and caliber of the music itself. This has been my most enjoyable and rewarding project to date."
The track list for "Kings & Queens" is:
2. Save the World
3. Angel Fell
4. Enter the Highlands
5. In the Palm of Your Hands
6. Alpha et Omega
7. Heart of Poison
9. Palace of Dreams
10. This Present Darkness
