Richmond, Virginia's tour-incessant tonal decimation crew Inter Arma recently announced the confirmation of a maiden European trek, now set to take place just after the already looming U.S. tour with Russian Circles and KEN Mode, which is less than two weeks from embarking.
Inter Arma guitarist Trey Dalton commented: "We've heard nothing but pretty incredible things about how awesome it can be touring in Europe, and needless to say we're very ready to experience that for ourselves. We're most definitely looking forward to playing at Roadburn as we're basically pals with half the bands playing, not to mention that we'll be with some of our best friends in Windhand for the majority of the tour. That being said, I think we're pretty excited about all of the shows. Most of us haven't done a lot of international traveling at all so this is a pretty righteous opportunity."
While still touring in support of the "Sky Burial" LP, the name of Inter Arma's recently recorded EP has been announced as "The Cavern," which encompasses a sprawling forty minutes of material. A final release date and further details on "The Cavern" EP will be released upon its completion. Catch Inter Arma live:

Six Feet Under's Chris Barnes is pleased to bring fans his latest work of sonic deviance in the form of the fittingly christened IHATE.
A venture inadvertently launched between Barnes and multi-instrumentalist/fellow horror enthusiast Bob Taggett, their as-yet-untitled debut promises to deliver eight violent tracks of raw, unrepentant death metal brutality and lyrical depravity. Relays Barnes of the project's formation:
"Early last year I got a message via Facebook from someone named Bob and Bob said to me, as a lot of people do, 'I have some songs and I'd like you to sing on them. Can I send you a song so you could check it out?' I get a lot of these requests and didn't think too much of it, but since I was just fresh back from a tour and a little bored, I decided to entertain the idea of listening to a song from Bob. After receiving an email with the first track that was attached to a video which more or less mapped out a murder storyline, I thought it was really different, and definitely creepy visually. And there was something very primitive and energetic to the attack of the music. It was very driven. I could feel it instantly. I knew this wasn't a joke and wasn't done half-assed. The music I was listening to was aggressive as a knife carving chunks of flesh off a body. Putting the music to a video caught my attention, immediately, as to Bob's focus. I found it all really interesting.
"I have almost always worked from a storyline in my head for my lyrical inspiration and my own imagination, but never have started from the standpoint of lyrically scoring a storyline already laid out on video first, like scoring a film. That seemed really exciting to me as a writer as well as a vocalist. I emailed Bob back and told him I would love to be involved with making this album with him. So one thing led to another and we began writing and recording. We are very close to finishing the album and have enlisted the good people at Pledge Music to help us reach out to all of the fans who we hope will help us make this album a reality."
As for what true death metal miscreants can expect from the IHATE end product? "To me, it really is a masterpiece of brutal, violent death metal," says Barnes, "I'm really stoked that if got to work on this album. The fans know that I'm no stranger to writing some sick lyrics, but the stuff I have come up with this time is entirely over-the-top even by my standards. I really want the fans to hear this album and dig into the storylines of the songs. This is the first time I've used crowd-funding to make and release an album. And it's been a very challenging, interesting learning experience along the way. And an eye-opener as well. We are really hoping the fans of death metal will make a pledge and preorder our new album. It's really important to us that this album gets released. This is brutal as fuck." More...

Oliver Withöft, co-owner of independent record label Century Media, passed away on January 20th, 2014 after falling ill several months ago. He was 49. Robert Kampf, Century Media founder, comments:
"I have lost my best friend of 32 years and my business partner of 24. Although the unthinkable already happened three days ago, I am still in a state of utter shock. Oliver Withöft leaves a space that cannot be filled for all who held him dear. He was a tremendous father, husband, son and friend and will be terribly missed. I will always treasure him in my heart as the witty, brilliant and altogether great person he was. Farewell Oliver, see you on the other side and in our next life."
The following press release was also issued by Century Media:
"Born in Dortmund, Germany in 1964, Withöft studied linguistics, business and history in both Germany and the UK. Robert Kampf started Century Media Records 25 years ago simply to create a suitable label home for his own band, Despair. He was looking for a trustworthy and strong partner to lead the company with and found this person in his best friend and fellow musician Oliver Withöft, who joined the company eighteen months later, sharing the same love and passion for music, and metal in particular. Since that very day, these two friends developed one of the most important independent record labels on the planet. Today the company has around 100 people on payroll in Dortmund, London, Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Melbourne and the Netherlands.
"A lot of musical careers were developed over the years: Lacuna Coil, Shadows Fall, Suicide Silence, In This Moment, Otherwise, Iced Earth, Die Broilers, Arch Enemy and Heaven Shall Burn are just a few of them. Century Media became a brand name recognized across the world. Oliver Withöft was always the strategic, legal and financial mind behind the organization. He was not only a strong fighter for the company, but also a very intelligent and forward-thinking leader. When the music industry drastically changed in the '90s, he was the first to think about new ways to adapt to the needs and challenges of the rapidly-changing market. We have lost a great man with an amazing sense of humor, a warrior, and an overall very human being. Oliver leaves behind a wife, Judith, and their three daughters." More...

Spanish black metal band Wrong has unleashed a new music video for “They Look At Me,” a song that comes off the group's first full-length album “Memories of Sorrow” released in early 2013 by Aphelion Productions.
Check out the video below, and the following press release was also issued about the band:
"Formed in 20012 by Phlegeton (Wormed, Banished from Inferno, Godüs…) and DP (The YTriple Corporation, Neverdie), Spanish black metallers Wrong released their debut full-length 'Memories of Sorrow' in the following year, a surprising effort that displays a remarkable balance between avant-garde melodies and acerbic black metal." Blood Harvest Records has set February 21st as the release date for "Apocalypse Towards Apocalypse," a double-vinyl 7" split between Black Vul Destruktor and Et Verbi Sathanus.
Black Vul Destruktor was previously covered in our look at underground metal bands in Argentina, and the following press release was also issued about the coming split:
"The title Apocalypse Towards Apocalypse says everything it needs to, as it unites two South American hordes dead set on destruction: Argentinian occultists Black Vul Destruktor and Chilean barbarians Et Verbi Sathanus.
"A double-7" split release, Apocalypse Towards Apocalypse features two exclusive songs from each band, arguably their best work to date and perhaps the wider world's introduction to these deep-underground maniacs. Black Vul Destruktor's two contributions, 'Sword of Luciferian Light' and 'Void of Darkness,' titularly bespeak the quartet's void-ward, Luciferian aims, conjuring cruel black/death bestiality with total violence and seeming ease.
"Et Verbi Sathanus' two contributions, 'Holocaust in the Paradise' and 'Gehinnon,' similarly bespeak arcane, diabolical aims, crushing purity and goodness with surging warfare noise and ritualistic fervor. Head south into the abyss and behold Apocalypse Towards Apocalypse..."

2. Black Vul Destruktor - Void of Darkness
3. Et Verbi Sathanus - Holocaust in the Paradise
4. Et Verbi Sathanus - Gehinnon More...

"Vlad decided to leave the band at the beginning of summer 2013. The main reasons are tiredness of live shows and his desire to spend more time with his family.
"We are very thankful for everything he made for the band during these 10 years! But, our journey continues and we are ready to turn the next page of our history... More...

"We have entered Compound Recordings in Santa Cruz, CA to start recording our new album. As usual, we cretins are easily distracted and it takes us years to release anything, so we're excited to finally crest this stage of the album. Get ready for more cretanic song-stories and proto-grind, backwoods death metal—this time with extra women and a much bigger sound. With 'Freakery' you grinded like it was ‘89, now you'll grind like it's, uh, ’91?"
As was announced yesterday, Detroit, Michigan-based metallers Battlecross will be joining Canada's Protest The Hero as direct support on the band's spring U.S. tour, set to commence March 1st in Buffalo. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 24th.

They seem like a very successful, humble group of guys who don't take things too seriously yet are serious about the business -- a good role model for all modern bands and we can't wait to get to know them on the road. Oh yeah and they're shredders! Being direct support is a huge honor and we won't let anyone down. U.K. progressive rock band TesseracT will once again be returning to North America. It will be the band's third tour supporting the critically acclaimed "Altered State" album (see review here).
Former touring partners, Intronaut, who will be fresh off a tour of their own with Between The Buried and Me and Deafheaven will be direct support. To make these events even more special, instrumentalists, DIY prog artist, Cloudkicker, will be touring for the first time ever with the members of Intronaut as his backing band.
"Last year we spent a few short weeks with a bunch of west coast musicians called Intronaut, stalwarts of the scene who have been honing their skills for years into an awesome blend of progressive jazz tinged metal. For as long as we can remember there has been a home studio producer of genre defying music called Cloudkicker. He has until now been restricted to the studio. So, it's with great pleasure that we get to rejoin our brothers in Intronaut, and be a part of Cloudkicker's first ever tour! This will be seriously fun."
"When we first met Ben a few years back and discovered the Cloudkicker album "Beacons", we unanimously fell in love with it and have since bugged him to let us be his band. Now it is finally happening. Intronaut is absolutely over the moon about this once in a lifetime opportunity for Cloudkicker fans to hear his stuff live. Sweetening the deal even further is the fact that we get to do the tour with our favorite British chaps in TesseracT. This tour is going to kick ass!"
Cloudkicker, aka, Ben Sharp elaborates:
"This just happened to be a time when Intronaut was free and, incredibly, I was able to get the entire month of April off from work. We have been in touch since 2010 and they had told me a few times that we could make this happen, but it wasn't until last fall that I decided to give it an honest effort. Having the professionalism and technical proficiency of a band like Intronaut was the piece of the puzzle that finally encouraged me to pursue this since they are making it so easy for me. I know that when we show up for the first night of the tour everything will be locked in and we can just focus on having a good time." More...
