Italian death metal act Human Improvement Process is gearing up to release latest EP "Enemies of the Sun" tomorrow on Memorial Records.
Today, the band has teamed up with Decibel Magazine to launch the brand new song and music video, "Tortured Hands of Reason." Check it out below.
"We're beyond excited to release our new stuff, which is more extreme and death metal oriented than our previous full length, 'Deafening Dissonant Millennium,'" the band told Decibel. "We're evolving in a new direction, and so does our music. Our new form is taking shape with this new EP, which will sound darker and heavier than everything we've released so far."
"Enemies of the Sun" was mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni (Mnemic, Vision Divine, Secret Sphere, Elvenking) at Domination Studios. Cover artwork comes courtesy of Federico Musetti, evolving the concept from the band's debut full-length, "Deafening Dissonant Millennium," which released in 2013. More...
Montreal, QC black doom Éohum (pronounced ee-o-um) has teamed up with MetalBlast.net to premiere latest track "Thus Spewed Thy Infectious Reign" from upcoming debut "Revelations, Aurora Of An Epoch," due out on April 7th via Mycelium Networks as a pay what you want release. Guitarist Jeremy Perkins comments:
"'Thus Spewed Thy Infectious Reign' starts with a salad of doom riffs, gutturals and cleans, slowly progressing mid-way through the song to a relentless black death anthem. Transitioning between both worlds, this song has the capacity to keep the attention of an array of metal lovers. Type of song you want to put on a loop or that haunts your conscious for a couple of days! Lyrically speaks of our point of no return as a species, unless we awaken from our deep sleep and brings to surface the many coma-tic ways of our times. One of my personal favorites from 'Revelations, Aurora Of An Epoch'." More...

"Orphans of Dusk is a gothic death/doom band being projected into the stars from the South Pacific Ocean, New Zealand/Australia.
"One of the few bands from this region attempting to break boundaries in depressive doom, it aims to keep pushing the genre from where bands such as Shape of Despair and Type O Negative left such devastating marks.
"Some HDR followers might recall Orphans of Dusk’s name due to their track 'Nibelheim' being included in the Hypnotic Dirge Records Doom Metal free digital compilation album 'Subarctic Nocturnes' released a few weeks ago!"
Orphans Of Dusk consists of:
Chris G - Vocals
James Quested - Guitars, Synths & Bass
Dan Nahum - Session Drums More...
Returning with opus number fourteen, Paradise Lost's "The Plague Within" (set to be released June 1st in Europe, June 2nd in North America), was produced by Jaime Gomez Arellano at London's Orgone Studios.
The cover artwork was created by the Polish artist Zbigniew M. Bielak, best known in the musical realm for his record cover illustrations, which among others include meticulously handcrafted artworks of Watain, Ghost, and Entombed A.D. Zbigniew comments:
"Since their late 80's inception, through somber abrasiveness of their debut and harrowing tristesse of groundbreaking 'Gothic', the unparalleled icons of gloom, Paradise Lost grew deep into all things murky and dreadful in modern music. Let alone Duncan Fergado's artwork for their 'Lost Paradise' debut remains one of my fave covers, so having heard that with 'The Plague Within' the band harks back to days of old, was - to say the least - a thrilling incentive to pick up the commission.
"It was also a rare joy to see how preliminarily calm and reflective Arcimboldian artwork, kept becoming ever darker and more sinister past each of Nick's and Greg's scrutinies, to finally become what one can see on the actual cover. A portrait of hopeless decrepitude of mental illness - which is what 'The Plague Within' deals with thematically - where the tormented Sisyphus struggles to push his burden back up the slippery walls of a long frozen illusion."
Check out the artwork below, and see the band live on these dates:
May 29, 2015 - Rockavaria - Munich - Germany
May 30, 2015 - Der Ring - Grune Holle Rock - Nurburg - Germany

25 years after the band's inception, Spanish death metal pioneer Sacrophobia is about to see all its recordings officially re-issued on CD under the title of "Dark Requiems."
The group's 1st demo "Only Death is Irreversible" came out in 1991 through Drowned Productions, followed by a 2nd demo recorded in '92 which was destined to be a 7" EP on Seraphic Decay Records, but that never happened and thus remained unreleased.
Then in '93 two more songs were recorded for a 5-way split CD with other 4 Spanish death metal bands entitled "Dead Flesh." A total of 10 studio tracks plus 3 unreleased tunes recorded live in '93 and 2 live cover songs was the legacy of Sacrophobia before splitting up in early '94. After this, one of the group's guitarists, Juancar, joined Avulsed.
The release date for "Dark Requiems" is set for April 20th and in the meantime, you can listen to the opening track from the "Dead Flesh" split album '93 below. More...
Germany's dark, primitive metal trio Valborg will unleash a fifth full-length opus via Temple Of Torturous.
Titled "Romantik," the follow-up to 2012's "Nekrodepression," features six tracks of somber avant-blackened beauty. After four albums based around experimental, skull-crushing doom, with "Romantik" Valborg dives deeper into the heart-tearing atmospheres of the abyss. Ambient synthesizers collide with wistful guitars, all slowly, purposefully floating above a foundation built upon pummeling rhythms and the band's harsh, German vocal inflections.
Valborg features current and former members of Owl, Klabautamann, Woburn House, Gruenewald, and more. "Romantik" was produced, recorded, and mixed by Oliver Weiskopf at Stonehenge Studios, mastered by Michael Schwabe at Monoposto Mastering, and will be released on CD and digitally on May 19th, 2015 via Temple Of Torturous. The track listing is as follows:
2. Blitz aus Sodom
4. Sulphur Vitriol Angel
5. Kryptische Arroganz
6. The Haunted Womb

New Atlantis Records announces the April 14th release of "Sun Square Dialect," the seventh full-length album by LA's Upsilon Acrux.
Stream "Pitch Mountain : Maps," the opening track off "Sun Square Dialect," in the player below, courtesy of SteelForBrains.com. Founder/guitarist Paul Lai comments:
"I started this band in 1997 with the intention of being the line that connected Ornette Coleman to Sonic Youth, Magma to Neu!, King Crimson to Conlon Nancarrow, and Van Halen to Harry Pussy, and I think we've only added more lines. We've had about 20 different members and no less than 11 different versions of the band.
"This is our seventh album and our intent with this record is, as always, to make a distillation of the things we find fascinating about music, as well as an ongoing dialogue between the members and places we are, physically, mentally, and emotionally. We aren't trying to make perfect mathematical music, in fact all we're trying to make is rock music that's interesting to us... I think we make and destroy cities in the time it takes other bands to cross the street to get coffee."
The "Sun Square Dialect" album was recorded at Infrasonic Sound (The Jesus Lizard, Death Grips) and The Record Plant (in the room where Appetite for Destruction was recorded), and was mixed and mastered by Pete Lyman (Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Xasthur). The track listing is: More...

Germany's Ván Records is proud to have added London-based epic black metal sect Crom Dubh to its ever-expanding roster, as the band's debut full-length album "Heimweh" is released onto the masses. The label comments:
"Merging melodic yet merciless black metal with folk and post-rock influences, Crom Dubh's debut full-length, 'Heimweh' (meaning homesickness), continues the narrative of the band's 2010 EP, 'Deifr,' in which the gathering and dissolution of a great river operated as a metaphor for the rise and fall of nations and civilizations. 'Heimweh' follows a similar narrative, albeit with a focus on the life of the lone individual within this tumult, following a traditional cradle-to-grave progression throughout the course of the album that runs parallel to Hesiod's five ages of man. The album handles themes of loss, ruthlessness, nostalgia, exile, and death, thinking on the journey ahead and the way home.
"Crom Dubh was formed in 2003 by M. Beonetleah (Craven Idol), S. O'Fairdehaigh (Disfago), and Xavi (El Punto Devil). A rehearsal demo was recorded in 2003, and the 'Damnation Upon Us' demo was recorded in 2004. Ro (Grave Miasma, Cruciamentum, Destroyer 666) joined to record the 'Fallen Sons' demo in 2005. Xavi and Ro left to pursue other projects, and A. Haege joined on drums. Crom Dubh recorded and released the 2010 EP, 'Deifr' (Ground Zero), as a three-piece, before being joined by S. Vrath (Scythian, Craven Idol) and A. Von M (Scythian). A. Von M played live with the band on several occasions before leaving the band on good terms.
"Recorded by J. C. Volgard (Scythian, Craven Idol) in the Summer and Autumn of 2013, Crom Dubh's first full-length opus 'Heimweh' presents forty-five minutes of majestic yet menacing northern black metal with an incredible storyline to overthrow fans of Dissection, early Summoning, Taake, Drudkh, Tsjuder, Carpathian Forest and the like." Long-running, New Zealand-based progressive death metal band Dawn Of Azazel will release a fourth full-length next month on April 28th. Titled "The Tides Of Damocles," the ten track slab of sonic violence is the trio's first output in six years following 2009's "Relentless" long-player.
"The Tides Of Damocles" was recorded, mixed, and mastered last year at Mana Recording Studios (Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Goatwhore, et al) in Tampa, Florida by Brian Elliot and J.J. Hrubovcak. A name referencing the ocean as a metaphor for the forces of life that constantly assail and erode the will of those who seek power, "The Tides Of Damocles" thrusts forth forty-eight minutes of harrowing, surgically precise death metal mastery.
Comments the band of this latest work: "We're excited as fuck to resurface with this record. It has an anger and a dynamism that reflects the reasons we've been silent for a several years, and our aggression moving forward in spite of these obstacles. We couldn't be more proud of this record as our contribution of something ferocious and unique to the death metal genre." More...
