The release date of the Blackbird album "Of Heroes And Enemies" on CD is set for March 28th, 2014. Pure Steel Records also comments:
"On their new album 'Of Heroes And Enemies' Blackbird doesn't recook the old Rock N Roll recipe: Ten tracks including the single 'Fire Your Guns' are remarkable for their new style of production in rockmusic.
"That´s why fresh and dirty guitar sound and sing-a-long choruses, in style of Slash or Buckcherry, meet a pumping groove, so that there´s nothing missed compared to the genre-heroes."
The track listing is as follows:
1. Fire your Guns
2. Not About You
4. Dusk till Dawn
5. Of Heroes And Enemies
6. Right With The Rockers
8. Don't Fool Me

The release date of Onward's vinyl edition of "Evermoving" has been set for March 28th, 2014. Pure Steel Records comments:
"In the course of our LP re-release series (limited to 500 hand-numbered copies), we are now planning to do the first two full-length-albums of Onward. The band was created in 2000 in Montana/USA by the later Crescent Shield singer Michael Grant (who died in 2012); they played at that time very untrendy classic US/Power Metal with some NWoBHM influences.
"At the beginning of 2001 they released their debut album 'Evermoving' via Century Media (only as CD). The eight Power-Metal delicacies could definitely convince fans of old genre-classics with their classic and sophisticated double guitar harmonies and epic and abundant song structures.
"The vocals are majestic and melodious, sometimes in higher pitches; and the peculiar sound makes them stick out of the masses (like some years later their compatriots Pharoah). The powerful and dynamic production by Denis Gulbey (e.g. Jack Starr, Manilla Road, Gothic Knights) lifts this LP definitely to the top class of their genre. The very detailed cover artwork was made by Ioannis Vassilopoulos, who has worked for Fates Warning, Dream Theater, and Deep Purple."
The track listing is as follows:
1. The Kindness Of Strangers
3. The Waterfall Enchantress
4. The Last Sunset
1. Absolution Mine
2. Witches Winter Eternal
3. Storm Coming Soon
4. The Lost Side Of The World More...
Tilburg metal outfit The New Dominion has issued the following announcement about disbanding:
"It appears that the most inevitable of hours has finally arrived at our misfortunate doorstep; Due to the ever expanding amount of personal responsibilities and the never diminishing temptations of other individual challenges for each of us, we have made the hardest decision we could make as a band.
"All the possible options have been carefully weighed and held against the light. Yet, the only constant always to remain in order to stay true to ourselves, also seems to lead us upon the most lethal path; the one of euthanasia.
"Lethal but liberating…
"One last séance of insanity can be witnessed within the next couple of months, before we will accept this infernal embrace as being permanent. Details concerning this event will be revealed on short notice.
"Insanity knows no boundaries; the more when inflicted upon one self. Hail the flagellated flesh!" More...

Scottish death metal act Cerebral Bore has announced a number of headlining shows in Spain, starting on May 7th in Barcelona.
The band will be playing five shows during what will be its first visit to Spain, with support from French death metallers Psychobolia. The tour kicks off a week after Cerebral Bore wraps up a mini European tour with Despised Icon.
Cerebral Bore guitarist Paul McGuire comments: "We are happy to say that we are heading to Spain for the first time. For some reason any offer we have ever had to go there hasn't quite worked out, so it will be great to play somewhere new straight after the Despised Icon tour. But it looks like we will be in Europe for a few spare days inbetween… So maybe you will see us added to a particularly awesome show taking place that week too!" More...
East (Coast) meets West (Coast) in noise rock: Whores and Rabbits joined together in misanthropy and misery. And what better material to manifest their unwavering rage than that of The Cure?
Whores crushes "Jumping Someone Else's Train," taking said train on a insanely heavy ride, the main riff stretched into a hypnotic groove forever beat into your brain. Rabbits opens with the stark "A Reflection" before cranking out an uncaged, claustrophobic version of "Give Me It." Who let these maniacs out?
Dead Horse Trauma has issued the following announcement about canceling tonight's Spring Lake Park, Minnesota show due to weather conditions:
"This is probably worst post I've had to write. The interstate north of us is closed in multiple places preventing us from making it to Minnesota. The governor has just declared it a national emergency. Everyone had been instructed to stay off these roads.
"This is the first show DHT has ever had to cancel. We are sorry and we will be back up there to rock your Minnesotan faces as soon as we can.
"Unfortunately this also means we won't be making it to Fargo either as we've flown in our engineer for studio time Sunday.
"The last thing we want to do is let down any of our fans, we're sorry we won't be joining you, but there is still an amazing line up we encourage our fans to go see." More...
Last Wednesday, February 12th, writer Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) posted a controversial OpEd titled “From Dicks To Chicks,” examining some irritating trends and pathologies regarding women in metal, amid the backdrop of the massive gender disparity within the genre.
The overall reaction was, put politely, quite visceral.
To kick off Episode Four of the official Metalunderground.com podcast, Mike and co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) assess that reaction [00:01:09] and recap Mike’s intentions in penning the provocative piece.
Moving onto stricter musical matters, Kevin then reviews the new Cynic album “Kindly Bent To Free Us” [00:26:27] and offers a mixed array of feelings on the polarizing experimental direction this unique band has taken.
Naturally, one can rarely discuss new music these days without discussing how one acquired it, and thus Kevin and Mike kick off what’s sure to be a recurring and ever-relevant theme: the shifting formats within the music industry, and how it’s affected purchasing trends. [00:45:25]

Dream Theater is collaborating with photographer Rob Fenn on a hardcover photo book documenting the North American leg of the Along For The Ride Tour, which kicks off March 20th.
Fenn will be traveling with the band all the way from Toronto, Canada's Massey Hall to Mesa, Arizona's Ikeda Theater, shooting 23 shows in all, including the special March 25th performance at the Boston Opera House, which will feature an orchestra and choir from Berklee College of Music. Proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit the F*ck Cancer foundation and Dying 2 Live.
"Being able to do a book project with an iconic and influential band such as Dream Theater is beyond a honor," says Fenn, who's previously shot limited edition prints featuring Killswitch Engage's Jesse Leach and Slipknot and Stone Sour's Corey Taylor. "Cancer affects my life daily, so to be able to give back through my work on a project like this is a true blessing."
Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci says, "We were introduced to Rob’s work through Mark Abramson at Roadrunner. His photos are amazing and as soon as we found out about the cause, we were all immediately on board. All of our lives have been affected by cancer in some way and all of us have lost loved ones to the disease. This is a great way for us to be a part of the crusade toward finding a cure, and we are looking forward to working together with Rob on the upcoming North American tour." More...

This Spring, Southern Lord will proudly reintroduce the world to Texas hardcore punk outfit, Offenders, with a fully remastered double LP issue of the band's entire vinyl catalog. The label also issued the following statement:
"The Offenders were formed in 1978 in Killeen, and after relocating to Austin in 1980, became known worldwide as one of the premiere hardcore bands out of the Lone Star state. Raw and rabid but more than proficient in the delivery of their musical rebellion -- alongside friends and scenemates D.R.I. and M.D.C. -- Offenders completely ruled the hardcore scene throughout the infamous Reagan-era. Southern Lord is honored to present all the band's official recordings harnessed in a weighty 2xLP collection, with the audio fully boosted for this release courtesy of Audiosiege.
"Confirmed for parole on March 18th, the reissue features the band's two full-length albums -- Endless Struggle and We Must Rebel, as well as the I Hate Myself / Bad Times 7" -- fitted to two 180-gram slabs of black wax, housed in a gatefold jacket with the original covers and inserts faithfully replicated. Preorders can be placed here.
"Over recent years, two of the original Offenders - guitarist Anthony Johnson and bassist Mikey Offender -- have passed away, making these reborn recordings a tribute to the fallen brothers from surviving members, drummer Pat Doyle and vocalist JJ Jacobson. In honor of the band's legacy, Doyle and Jacobson have recruited Jeff Martin (Buzzcrusher) on guitar and Craig Merritt (World Burns to Death) on bass, and have already booked a March performance celebrating re-release of their works. More shows are being confirmed with the rebuilt lineup and will be announced in the weeks ahead."

"The drums and much of the guitars are completed for our ninth opus, 'Bled White.' Things are going very well at the studio, getting a lot accomplished and we are very pleased with the way things are turning out. Still much more work ahead of us, but it's all sounding very dark, heavy, and what we'd hoped for." More...

Katatonia has issued the following announcement about splitting with guitar player Per Eriksson:
"It has been some time coming but guitarist Per ‘Sodomizer’ Eriksson and Katatonia have now mutually agreed to part ways. Per joined the band in 2010 as a live session player and after some substantial touring quickly became a steady fixture being heavily involved in the recording of Katatonia’s 2012 critically acclaimed studio album ‘Dead End Kings.'
"A difference in views on the band’s current operative as well as last year’s decision from Per to permanently live in Barcelona have made his involvement in the band too problematic, both for him and for the remaining band members.
"They part ways as good friends and on a related note, his position within the death metal super-group Bloodbath remains unchanged and he will soon join his fellow band members in the studio to record their 4th album to be released on Peaceville records this fall.
"Katatonia’s upcoming ‘Dethroned & Uncrowned’ Tour will go ahead as scheduled and will see none other than Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief, Wisdom of Crowds) as a special guest taking on guitar and vocal duties."

Greyhaze Records has officially released the vinyl LP reissue of "Warfare Noise," the seminal four-way split album featuring Brazilian extreme metal acts Sarcofago, Chakal, Holocausto, and Mutilator.
To celebrate the re-emergence of this beast, New Noise Magazine is hosting a stream of the album in its entirety. Check it out below. "Warfare Noise" is also now available for purchase at this location.
First released in 1986 via Brazilian metal label Cogumelo Records, the album's original masters had lost much of their audio prowess due to the long amount of time elapsed since its first release. This new album reissue, however, was carefully restored by mastering engineer Dave Eck and is, once again, available the same way as it was over two decades ago. The savage output of all four bands can be heard just as in the original version.
The packaging of this reissue was also carefully restored by graphic artist Fernando Lima and is now available as a faithful representation of the 1986 release. Aside from the insert, the packaging also includes a special poster with a depiction of the concert flier for the "Warfare Noise" release show which took place in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1986 featuring all four bands.
