Daggers Streaming Full Album

Throatruiner Records is now taking pre-orders for "It's Not Jazz, It's Blues," the new full-length from Belgian vicious punk/metal outfit Daggers.

Due out March 31st on transparent blue vinyl, the record is already available for full streaming, pre-order and free download at this location. The label also comments:

"During their five years of existence, Belgium's Daggers has worked hard on creating unique and singular records to forge a very personal sound. The new full-length 'It's Not Jazz, It's Blues' is an entire different animal than on their crust-infused hardcore previous releases, delivering twelve epic tracks that will drag you down to the bottom of the earth and shred the living out of you with the haste and anger of a thousand rusty swords. Captured in an organic live recording setting, 'It's Not Jazz, It's Blues' takes a hypnotic, noisy approach to the band's claustrophobic blend of punk and metal, more ruthless and vicious than ever." Karmian Issues Album Update

Karmian has checked in with the following update about writing new material for an upcoming album:

"After the great gig in Brescia, we are ready to give you some news about the upcoming album, actually in the songwriting phase. Two songs are already finished. One of them, 'Shadow of the Eagles,' has been played live for the first time last Saturday.

"As we already said, the album will be about the Boii, a gallic tribe who conquered Northern Italy before the rise of the Roman Empire. The first song finished is called 'They Burn.' This song talks about the conquer of Bologne by the gallic tribes defeating the Etruscans approx on 390 B.C. The song, very fast and aggressive, describes the barbaric frenzy that crushed the Etruscans and portraits Felsina (Etruscan landmark of Bologne) put on fire.

"The second song completed, 'Shadow of the Eagles,' talks about the rise of the Romans. The song describes the battle of Sentinum (295 B.C.) that allowed Rome to unify Central Italy. After this battle, Boii and Rome were doomed to meet for the control of Northern Italy.

"Stay tuned for more songwriting reports, we also released a new video (the Twilight of the Thunder God cover, recorded live in Brescia the 8th of February) available below." More...

Iron Mask Seeking New Singer

Iron Mask band leader & guitarist Dushabn Petrossi has issued the following announcement about seeking a new vocalist:

"I've come a long way since Iron Mask was founded, but the love for the music and band will never fade. The fifth album has been released, again by AFM Record label and received super reviews and a lot of promotion. For the last two albums Mark Boals and me worked together, and he gave me the vocals I heard in my head, whilst composing the songs.

"Of course it's with pain in my heart, but times have changed and touring will always be a must for a band. Since the vibe of a live show is very important for us as musicians, for the band itself and also for the many fans asking us to come play in their area, I feel pressured to follow the reality. Times has changed, budgets have changed and we have to adapt, Iron Mask is not a studio project and we don't want to make it that.

"Although Mark his voice fits perfect with my vision for Iron Mask, we have a logistical problem that obligates me to search for a different singer, close by. Therefor, I will keep online auditions for a new male singer for Iron Mask.

"The most important is, next to vocal capability and living close by Belgium of course, that the heart for this genre is there, the feeling for brotherhood in the band and the pride as a member of Iron Mask. This is something I have, just as Ramy and Vassili… More...

Ghoul Announces 10" EP

In recognition of that holiest of holy days, Record Store Day, the masked mutants in Ghoul are releasing "Hang Ten," a limited edition six-song (mostly) instrumental 10" EP.

Featuring guest vocals from Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste, Iron Reagan) as Henchman #1 and R.A. MacLean (ex-Deadbolt) as Kreeg, alongside Digestor, Cremator, Fermentor, Dissector and The Moron Cavern-Shackled Choir, "Hang Ten" was recorded by Salvador Raya at Earhammer Studios in Oakland (birthing home of Splatterhash, Splatterthrash and Transmission Zero), mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound Mastering, and sports cover art by Sean Aaberg of Pork Magazine.

Noted Cambridge University musical anthropologist Dr. Mantle Bannister PhD had this to say about this odd assortment of tenebrous tunes: "Why, it's quite remarkable. I've never heard the like. Is it surf? Not quite. Is it metal? Maybe. Is it jazz? No, that's a stupid question, unfit for a real life noted musical anthropologist such as myself. It's from Creepsylvania, you say? Ghastly country. Absolutely crawling with gypsies. Say, old chap, who let you in to my office?"

The album is due out April 19th, and the track listing is as follows:

1. The Midnight Ride of the Cannibals MC
2. Kreeg
3. Sidehackers
4. Hang Ten
5. Blood on the Street
6. It Was a Very Good Year More...

Ancient Bards Reveals Album Details

Ancient Bards, along with Limb Music and Rockshots Music Management, are proud to present "A New Dawn Ending," the third and last chapter of the first part of the Black Crystal Sword saga, which began with "The Alliance of the Kings" in 2010 and continued with "Soulless Child" in 2011.

The songs were all recorded at Simone Mularoni’s Domination Studio and "A New Dawn Ending" will be released via Limb Music on April 25th, 2014. The cover artwork was designed by Felipe Machado Franco and will be revealed soon.

Keyboardist Daniele Mazza comments: "For us now it's a habit and a guarantee to record at Domination Studio, with Simone we studied the best sound for this album, which this time goes beyond our previous productions: the guitars are even more aggressive, the orchestrations and arrangements are more epic than ever, while the choir, which is more present, has a new and more important role. These are the main ingredients of this final chapter of the Saga.

"The music flawlessly delivers the events of the story, every note fits it perfectly like a tailored suit. With this album we tried to reach a high level of epicness because we want the listeners to enjoy it to the fullest: the choruses are likely to resonate in your head for a long time. The composition are, of course, all enriched by the beautiful, clear and strong voice of Sara, by the engaging solos of Claudio and Martino and accompanied by the uncontrollable machine that is Federico. This can probably be the best chapter of the saga so far." Megadeth Cancels Soundwave Shows

Megadeth lead singer, Dave Mustaine has announced that the band will no longer be participating in the Soundwave shows after a falling out with the festival's promoter. A statement posted online by Mustaine reads as follows:

"Due to circumstances beyond its control, unfortunately Megadeth has to cancel their Australian dates. Megadeth's decision is unrelated to the fact that Jason Newsted is performing at Soundwave. Jason and I spoke recently and continue to be friends.

"All I asked for was an apology for blaming me for something I didn't do. I am still willing to play, but the promoter would rather not apologize and prefers to say I asked him to lie, which I didn't. Am I the only one that sees how easy it is to fix this? The AJ Maddah that I know is a wise and caring man, and I don't know what has happened to my old friend. My bags are packed Aussie fans."
