Yautja Announces Debut Full-Length
This week, Forcefield Records is beyond stoked to announce the impending release of the debut LP from gnarled grind/death act, Yautja. The label comments:
"Featuring members of Coliseum, Gnarwhal, Nameless Cults and more, and hailing from the filthy underbelly of 'Music City,' Yautja forges a potent mix of death metal, grind, and hardcore. Started in Nashville, Tennessee in January 2010 by vocalist/guitarist Shibby Poole and drummer/vocalist Tyler Coburn, the band began playing shows locally, released a live tape that August, and did some touring with then bassist Trey Stallings.
"In October 2010, bassist/vocalist Kayhan Vaziri joined the band, and in 2011, Yautja released a five-song EP, titled 2011, on Nashville-based label Tapes of a Neon God, which was followed by an East Coast tour. 2012 saw the band release a split 7" with Enabler, as well as complete a tour of the Southeast U.S.
"Entitled Songs Of Descent, Yautja's debut album presents the band's ultra-intense metallic, grind-infused, tone-heavy hardcore aggression with thunderous, organic recording attributes, captured at Dark Art Studios with Mikey Allred (Inter Arma, Accross Tundras, Hellbender). Burning down everything in earshot with fourteen hook-laden crushers in just over thirty-seven minutes, Forcefield Records will release Songs Of Descent on LP and digitally in early February 2014; the digital version mastered by Mikey Allred and the vinyl mastered by Zack Allen of Obsidian Eye Studios (Loss, Recluse, Sky Burial). Lumbar Streaming Debut LP
Today an advance stream of "The First And Last Days Of Unwelcome," the debut LP from Lumbar, is available online.
Lumbar is the experiment implemented by Aaron Edge (Iamthethorn, Roareth, Rote Hexe, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth) and joined by Mike Scheidt (YOB, VHÖL) and Tad Doyle (Tad, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth). Explore the excruciating doom artistry of Lumbar’s "The First And Last Days Of Unwelcome" at Pitchfork.com here.
Southern Lord will release the album on LP/digital November 26th, followed by a CD version direct from the band and a cassette version via Holy Mountain Music, with all of the band’s proceeds going to aid Edge’s medical expenses and treatments. The following press release was also issued about the project:
"The brainchild of Aaron Edge, Lumbar came together earlier this year when he was unexpectedly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. What would be his final musical endeavor before waves of rapidly-spreading pain engulfed him and extended hospital stays became more than frequent, is now his most imperative. Having recruited his brethren Sheidt and Doyle to help his vision see reality, the musical result of this first, and possibly only, release from LUMBAR is as diverse and destructive as one may expect from such a lineup.
"With the varied influence from this trio of musicians coalescing into seven organic and tonally oppressive movements where ghostly passages and spacious expanses of minimalistic disharmony cone to an end in sonic obliteration through mesmerizing and pulverizing, as an array of distinct vocal mantras echo from the heart of it all."

Abazagorath confirmed that the upcoming album is in fact based on the infamous "Gharaniq incident" - where the Islamic prophet Mohammed allegedly acknowledged 3 satanic goddesses in the Qu'ran- as well as the controversial Salman Rushdie novel "The Satanic Verses."

StarOfAsh Streaming New Songs
StarOfAsh, the solo project from Heidi S. Tveitan of Peccatum, has now released three new tracks online for streaming. Check them out below or at the StarOfAsh website here. She also comments:
"After a rather long pause in my 2013 project, I am back with no less than three songs. My summer songs are called 'Meteors in June,' 'Shimmer,' and 'Draum,' and they are as diverse as their titles indicate.
"They have two main elements in common, and that is clean chord progressions and live samples. I love working with sampling, albeit I think I have startled a couple of people in the process. It is perhaps not obvious for everyone that people who slam post boxes in rhythmic patterns multiple times on mountain tops, are sampling. Taking away that element, it is perhaps understandable that some people turn and run (which they did)!
"I will soon be back with more music, and in the meantime I hope you’ll enjoy my summer songs."
Three More Bands Confirmed For Bloodstock 2014
The organizers of the Bloodstock Festival are thrilled to announce the addition of three more bands to the main stage bill in 2014: Amon Amarth, Hatebreed, and Prong.

Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta comments on being confirmed for the fest: “When I found out, I opened my window and yelled FUCK YEAH, MOTHERFUCKER! My neighbor looked up at me startled, and asked what the outburst was all about. I told him we’re playing Bloodstock 2014! So spread the word people, it's gonna be a great summer and it will be Hatebreed's only UK show, so don't you dare miss it!"

Sheol Announces 12" Release
Iron Bonehead Productions today announces December 24th as the international release date for Sheol's "Sepulchral Ruins Below The Temple" 12" MLP. The following press release was issued about the band:
"As has lately become the label's forte, Iron Bonehead Productions unveils another new horde that will soon be taking the death metal underground by storm: Sheol, which means 'grave' or 'abode of the dead' in Hebrew.
"An apt descriptor of the miasmic madness at hand across their debut 12" MLP, the aptly titled Sepulchral Ruins Below The Temple displays the duo of A.B.S. (vocals, guitar, bass) and A.H.S. (drums, guitar) as masters of burly, shapeshifting, and absolutely gutted DEATH-fucking-METAL diabolism.
"Nodding to the ancient cults of the early '90s whilst never once whiffing of 'retro' retread, Sheol defy and then redefine what morbidity means in the Metal of Death, imbuing their creations with a thorough understanding of the occult as well a spirituality that aims for the otherworld. CD version to be released imminently by Invictus Productions." More...

TFN Tour: Day 18 San Diego
We wake up in the coach, to a very foggy San Diego day. We soon head to the venue and park the coach. We come out on stage, and the room is fairly full. There is an opening in the middle of the crowd to accommodate a circle pit, with a wall of people facing us at the other side. Weird vibe. We get going, and the people up the front are digging it. Occasionally the pit starts up, only to be completely ruined by our Reggae and Latin stylings. I attempted to encourage them to keep going, they didn't. I think we did fairly well, as the reception at the end was really good, and unexpected given the interactivity (or lack thereof) during the set. Sometimes, audiences stand motionless, just taking it in. "Do I like this? Is it ok to like this?". I believe that was the case in this instance. Still, it was a decent show. We hung out later with DLC, and BOO, had a few drinks, then got on the bus, and pretty much went straight to bed. Jet-lag is catching up. Nite, San Diego!More...

The Vintage Caravan Releases Trailer For Debut LP
Icelandic psychedelic rockers The Vintage Caravan posted a preview clip for the upcoming new album "Voyage." The album will be released on January 10th (EU) and January 21st (North America) via Nuclear Blast Records.
The band was formed in 2006 in Reykjavik, Iceland when two 12 year old kids named Óskar Logi and Guðjón Reynisson decide to form their own band. Inspired by the tasteful record collections of their parents, the duo rudimentarily starts to work on music. Three years in, the band had already written and recorded their self-titled debut album which eventually would be released in 2011. Drawing attention with the more psychedelic bluesy direction of their early material, The Vintage Caravan would soon play all around Iceland, gaining more and more fans – and not only in their native country. Just a few months later, in late 2012, "Voyage," the band‘s second effort was released through one of Iceland’s biggest record labels. Unfortunately though, "Voyage" did not make its way across the home country’s borders and not many people are able to take notice of the classic rock these youngsters have to offer.
The track list for "Voyage" is:
1. Craving
2. Let Me Be
3. Do You Remember
4. Expand Your Mind
5. M.A.R.S.W.A.T.T.
6. Cocaine Sally
7. Winterland

Gamma Ray's Studio Destroyed In Hamburg Fire
Hammer Studios, the home studio for Gamma Ray founder Kai Hansen (ex-Helloween) and guitarist Dirk Schlächter along with Dark Age guitarist/vocalist Eike Freese and others, has been destroyed in a fire at the warehouse building which houses it in Hamburg, Germany.
None of the band members were injured, as Gamma Ray is currently on tour in South America. The fire started in a warehouse that houses refrigeration equipment and car parts.
A statement posted on Gamma Ray's Facebook Page reads:
"Quick and as well very sad info after the [studio] seems to have been destroyed by a huge fire today (18th Nov. 2013):
"Kai: 'Hi everybody, thanks for your concern, we are ok, already on Tour in South America, the Studio is probably gone, we'll know more whenever the Firemen have everything under control. Here's the ironic part: we're at the Waterfront of a lake and the upcoming Deep Purple Live recordings have just been mixed at our place. Remember Smoke On The Water...'"
According to the German news source Bild.de (see article here), firefighters arrived too late to save the building, due to staff shortages. It was determined earlier in the year that the closest Fireboat would concentrate on a neighboring pier. The fireboat arrived about two hours after the fire broke out. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
There was no word on whether the fire will delay the release of Gamma Ray's new LP "Empire Of The Undead," which was targeted for an early 2014 release. More...
