Genre smashing avant experimentalists, OvO, is out now with the mammoth "Abisso" full-length. Issued via Supernatural Cat, "Abisso" finds the curious noise duo of Stefania Pedretti and Bruno Dorella taking unorthodox compositions to entirely new dark, rhythmic, and often suffocating realms.
Today, Pitchfork is offering up a a stream of "Fly Little Demon" featuring Carla Bozulich's Evangelista. Check out the eight minute track at this location. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Where Cor Cordium and previous offering, CroceVia, were veritable points-of-no-return for their minimal rock structures with Dorella's half drum set and Pedretti's guitar and penetrating vocal gymnastics swirling into a detached otherworldly kingdom of curiosity, Abisso travels far beyond those confines, using contemporary music tools to maintain their unparalleled creativity and eternal evolution. Samples, drum machines, pads, field recordings and synths converge into a harrowingly alluring sound that haunts the ears with ancestral urgency.
"With the help of Giulio 'Ragno' Favero at the mixing desk, Giovanni Versari's mastering, and the friendly collaboration of Gnaw's Alan Dubin (OLD and Khanate) and Carla Bozulich with her full band, Evangelista, OvO have traversed into new territories of extreme and adventurous listeners are taking notice."

In anticipation of new album "Severance," which will be released on Tuesday, November 12th in North America, Heart of a Coward is premiering a new video for the song "Psychophant." Both song and video feature a guest performance from Scott Kennedy of Bleed From Within.
Check out the video in the player below, courtesy of New Noise Magazine. Singer Jamie Graham had this to say about the song and video:
"'Psychophant is a play on words for 'Sycophant'- someone who just lives leeching off others, but taken to a psychotic level. We asked (Scott) Kennedy to jump on the track after we all toured together back in early 2013. It's one of the heavier, simpler songs on the album and follows the night of a total prick who gets everything coming to him! Everyone knows someone like this and it begs the question of how happy you are with your own life. We love playing this one live!'"
Next on Heart of a Coward's agenda is extensive touring. Currently announced dates are available after the jump. More...

Portugal's Malevolence will be back on November 22nd, 2013 with "Antithetical," a brand new studio album.
"Antithetical" is the follow-up to 1999’s "Martyrialized" that was recorded in Fredman Studio by Fredrik Nordstrom.
Malevolence feels that "Antithetical" will surpass the previous album, stating, "We are at a creative peak right now, and Antithetical as an album reflects that. Everything from the production, to the writing, to the performances are a step up from our last album."
Today we are pleased to bring you the U.S. exclusive premiere of the album's title track, which can be heard below. The band comments: “Antithetical is one of our most forward thinking songs. We explored and enhanced the contrast between elements from the progressive and the extreme metal fields to add another perspective to the whole album.”
The "Antithetical" album was produced by Carlos Cariano and recorded in 20M2SEA Studio by Paulo Pereira in Portugal. Mixed and mastered at Woodshed Studio by V. Santura (Triptykon, Pestilence), the album includes drummer extraordinaire Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, Devin Townsend).
"Working with Malevolence was extremely challenging, but in the end the album turned out great,” said V. Santura. “I especially like the overall aggressivity and those few, but very delicate industrial elements - Quite special!" More...
Symphonic metal pioneers Within Temptation has released a teaser video revealing the title of the band's upcoming new full length LP "Hydra." The album is set for release on January 31, 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records. Preorders for the album can be made over here.
The Hydra, a mythological serpent creature from ancient Greece, couldn’t be killed. When one of its many heads was cut off, two more grew in its place…
“It’s like us – undefinable!” laughs Robert. “What’s more, ‘Hydra’ is a perfect title for our new album, because like the monster itself, the record represents the many different sides of our music.”
Within Temptation collaborated with several special guests on ‘Hydra’: Tarja Turunen, Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum and metalcore hero Howard Jones, formerly of Killswitch Engage as well as US hip-hop icon Xzibit.
Robert: “Xzibit is amazing. ‘And We Run’ song is about how you’ve got to live your life now. He’s rapping at full force on this song, it’s really heavy.” Sharon adds: “Xzibit brings a new element to our music that we’ve never had before! It’s a new cross-over and we love it!” As for the mighty Tarja, Sharon recalls: “The way she delivers those high melody lines left us all speechless. We had a great time, and the fans responded beyond our expectations.”
One of the album’s heaviest tracks, ‘Dangerous’ was recorded with the former Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones, whose epic vocals are a perfect fit for Sharon’s. “I always loved Howard’s voice,” she says. “He makes the song even heavier than it already is. That song is one of my favorite songs on the record and one of the fastest we’ve ever written. It has the most bass drums we’ve ever used, too, and a very fast riff which we doubled with synths. It’s not a typical synthesizer, though – it’s distorted like a guitar, and it’s very aggressive.”
‘Hydra’ goes from strength to strength with ‘Whole World Is Watching’, featuring Soul Asylum’s singer Dave Pirner. “When we wrote ‘Whole World Is Watching’, Dave was at the very top of our list. He has such a captivating voice: it made the song exactly how it needed to be.“ More...
