Behind-the-scenes documentary footage has been posted online of the Vulture Industries "Turning Golem" collaboration with the Happy Gorilla Dance Company. You can check it out below, and the following press release was also issued about the clip:
"The recent collaboration between Norwegian act Vulture Industries and the Happy Gorilla Dance Company, which resulted in the theatrical performance 'Turning Golem,' has proved to be a considerable crowd-pleaser, so much so, in fact, that the show has been booking into various venues and festivals both this year and next.
"Interest in the show, which is part rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal which features Vulture Industries performing music from their latest release 'The Tower,' and part theatre performance which features the Happy Gorilla Dance Company, has grown, and as a result journalist Andrea Chirulescu has produced a behind the scenes documentary which explores the he ideas and concepts behind 'Turning Golem.'
"Featuring interviews with Vulture Industries frontman Bjornar E. Nilsen, who explains how the whole idea came about and how it developed, as well as with the other members of the band – guitarists Oyvind Madsen and Eyvind Huse, bassist Kyrre Teigen and drummer Tor Helge Gjengedal, who talk about the difference between performing as a band as opposed to being part of a performance ensemble, whilst members of the Happy Gorilla Dance Company explain their part in the project.
"The documentary, which is in English, was filmed in Bergen when 'Turning Golem' was recently performed at the Garage, and is currently streaming on the YouTube Channel of the Norwegian webzine Eternal Terror."
Wizard Rifle is currently out on the road with Church of Misery and has now posted several new tour diary entries online. Check out the latest entries in the road report series:
"Tour Diary, Day 2: Last night was a magical night full of sparkles and wonder. Someone stole Max's shirt while he was onstage, Sam broke five sticks playing one song and Dave drank an herbal elixir purported to give him eternal youth and the stamina to please a harem of 50 women. Now we're gonna lay you down nice and sweet, Fresno.
"Tour Diary, Day 3: Rocked the fuck out of Fresno then we rocked it back in, gently, like you would a baby. Met some kind and generous Fresnoids who let us sleep on their floor and gifted Sam with a feather from an Euroasian eagle owl. Dave found a yo-yo abandoned in the grocery store emblazoned with inspirational wisdom. Max is still alive. Gonna snuggle up real close tonight, Santa Cruz!
"Tour Diary, Day 4: Played the Catalyst in Santa Cruz where Church of Misery were treated like kings and we their queens. A fully stocked green room (actually red) with pizza and beer and a carpet full of free Rorschach tests. Tatsu from CoM got sucker punched by one of the many tweekerz milling around the street and the whole band retaliated, bell bottoms fucking swinging. Pulled out 'Leathery Gentlemen' for the first time to the depreciation of our instruments. Ate cactus for breakfast and gtfo. Gonna make YOU breakfast in the morning, Oakland."

Hate Eternal bass sorcerer J.J. Hrubovcak recently unveiled the details of his Death Metal Christmas - "Hellish Renditions Of Christmas Classics" creation.
Composed and produced by J.J. with vocals and artwork by brother Mike Hrubovcak, "Hellish Renditions Of Christmas Classics" was engineered by Hate Eternal mastermind Erik Rutan and J.J., mixed and mastered by Brian Elliott all at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida and boasts five diseased recreations of some of the season's darkest hymns.
Today Revolver brings you second track "Earthen Kings (We Three Kings)." Check it out below.
Elaborates Hrubovcak, "At this point in the story, the kings of the world have already created regional unions to help them maintain a tighter grip over citizens and global policy. This was done at the behest of Azrael, under the guise of solving other smoke screen surface issues and has already caused suffering as a by-product of new policies. Little do they know, the greatest suffering is to come. The kings of the world are bringing alms to the new king (Azrael) and continually granting him more influence over policy until he is officially crowned (in public or behind the scenes) and turns on these kings."

Following announcements over recent months proclaiming the release of "Blood!" -- the newly-released but vintage recordings from iconic '80s Santa Cruz act, Bl'ast! - the band now confirms a current live lineup which will take over stages in the coming weeks for the first time in over a decade and a half.
Original Bl'ast! alumni, vocalist Clifford Dinsmore (also of Dusted Angel, Gargantula) and guitarist Mike Neider, have recruited Nick Oliveri (Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Mondo Generator) on bass and drummer Hoss Wright (The Exies, Mondo Generator) to flesh out the brand new 2013 live lineup.
Having bashed out a solid set behind closed doors in sessions in Los Angeles and Santa Cruz over recent months, Bl'ast! is ready to rage once again. The band has already been confirmed to supply support to the mighty Neurosis alongside YOB on two California shows at the end of the year: December 28th in Santa Ana, also with Helen Money, and December 29th in San Francisco, also joined by The Body. Another show is coming together in L.A. in mid-January with more shows to be announced shortly.
Stated Clifford Dinsmore on the band's newly re-ignited status: "The upcoming Neurosis shows really have us feeling the fire, and preparation has been intense! Nick and Hoss are really stepping up to the plate. This new lineup is vital in the continuation of Bl'ast! and the addition of new blood makes it even more bombastic and heavy."

While Heaven Wept's Tom Phillips has checked in with the following update about working on a new album:
"Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support of WHW throughout the years being that it's Thanksgiving time. You all mean the world to me. And with that said, I thought I'd give you a long-overdue update regarding the new EXTREMELY epic album. Yes, the one that is an epic unto itself: as of today, the updated structure is complete... direct results from this past weekend's pre-production work.
"We've also discussed the schedule for the realization of this with Nuclear Blast Europe and recording will commence in April for a cold autumn 2014 release! Much more news to follow, but as a personal aside, it is very obvious that this 40 minute song is light years beyond anything we've ever done.
"Never thought we could 'top' "Vast Oceans Lachrymose," but this will decimate it. Expect the nothing less than the definitive While Heaven Wept statement."

It’s hard to believe that Onslaught has been around for over 30 years now. At one time, the band set a pace to become one of the greatest thrash bands of all time, until a dynamic shift in the sound of the late 80’s led to an eventual downfall. Prior to “In Search of Sanity” (1989), the band had released two of the most critically acclaimed thrash masterpieces ever released “Power From Hell” (1985) and “The Force” (1986). They deserved to be spoken of among the genre’s greatest offerings. In 2004, the band reformed with vocalist Sy Keeler and the band was given that rare “second chance” to start anew.
In 2007, “Killing Peace” re-established the band’s thrash roots and the reviews reinforced it. “Sounds of Violence” followed in 2011 and the band was back in stride and running on all cylinders. With the release of “VI,” this year (see review here), the band progressed further – adding newer elements in songs like “Children of the Sand.” With this rebirth, the band has ascended the throne once again and deserves the attention of any critic or fan of thrash. Band founder and guitarist Nige Rockett checked in with Metal Underground.com to discuss the new album – the new elements the band has added – and what it was like to rock the boat on 70,000 Tons of Metal back in January 2013.
