Black Cobra Announces Shows, Working On Songs
The tonally decimating San Francisco-based gruesome twosome known as Black Cobra has announced a cross-country invasion just days after the start of the New Year.
On Friday, January 3rd the serpent will uncoil at an exclusive one-off East Coast rager as the band once again destroys Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn with several local support acts unreleased at press time.
Immediately after once again raging in Brooklyn, Black Cobra is set to perform the following night at a benefit show for rock/metal poster artist Alan Forbes (The Black Crowes, The Misfits, Black Cobra 's Chronomega LP, etc.). In October, Forbes was attacked in the Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco, which left him with two skull fractures and damage to his right eye. As the artist is uninsured several benefit actions have been formed to aid in covering his growing medical expenses, including this event on January 4th where Black Cobra will headline with support from Lecherous Gaze, Pins of Light. and Kicker.
Black Cobra is currently constructing new material and additional news on the band's plans for 2014 will be announced in the coming weeks.

Menace Announces Album Release
Menace, the recently announced new project of Mitch Harris (Napalm Death), has announced further details on a forthcoming debut.
The band's first effort is titled "Impact Velocity" and will be released via Season of Mist on March 18th in North America (March 14th worldwide). "Impact Velocity" features contributions from Derek Roddy (drums), Fred Leclercq (bass), Nicola Manzan (violin, cello, viola), Shane Embury (bass), and Russ Russell (producer and navigator of paradoxology).
Mitch comments: “The band is called Menace, but to me it is more than just a band or a solo project, it is the result of my life’s work. It's a concept that has been in production for some time with most of the songs and intense work done in the last two years.
"The initial idea for Menace began with a plan to work with Max Cavalera and Brann Dailor (Mastodon). Although Brann recorded for two songs initially, his responsibilities with Mastodon didn’t allow time for such an intricate collaboration. In fact, we all became incredibly busy and as a result new directives evolved, and to achieve my goal for Menace I needed to see the album through myself.
"To me Menace is the old meeting the new; heavy and melodic, descriptive and adventurous, epic and futuristic, carnal and primitive, and so on. Menace brings unrealized dreams closer to fruition. It is about overcoming loss and hardship, and a combination of many interests including spiritual philosophy, psychology, science, physics, theatrics, the supernatural, the paranormal, film, poetry, photography, art, sculpture and video; the things I’ve focused all my energy on over the last twenty years. It's an organic-meets-technological approach to exploration and self discovery through a direction I term audio-installationism (A.I.).
"Those familiar with my previous work will be in for a surprise and should expect the unexpected, but I’m a firm believer that even the most improbable dreams should be explored. Menace is a statement in itself, a way of saying that there is always a way forward, no matter how difficult it seems. If you are still alive, then there is still something to achieve."

Hate's front man Atf Sinner comments: "We are very much looking forward to touring Europe again and I think the combined line-up for these shows is simply killer! As we are working on new tracks right now, you may expect some brand-nu-blaspehemy played on the upcoming shows for the first time! We've been waiting for a regular tour since the tragedy happened and I believe the time has come to hit the road again at full force. We will come back rejuvenated and hungrier than ever before, so be prepared for truly riotous shows!” More...

Aurora Borealis Signs With Xtreem Music
Xtreem Music has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Aurora Borealis:
"If there is a legendary and pioneer band that started blending Death & Black 20 years ago, this one is Aurora Borealis from Maryland (USA). Now, with their 6th full length album already recorded, Xtreem Music is proud to announce the addition of the band to its roster, signing them for the release of 'Worldshapers' in spring 2014.
"Formed back in 1994 by mainman Ron Vento, the band has been developing their unique brand of brutal, fast and technical yet melodic Death Metal with adequate doses of Black Metal. One of the most outstanding points in the history of Aurora Borealis has been the usage of top drummers for the recordings of all their albums such as Tony Laureano, Derek Roddy, Tim Yeung and currently Mark Green, which gives a good idea of the band's pedigree, and everything excellently topped by the awesome songwriting of Ron Vento.
"Worldshapers is the 6th full length album, their finest work to date, which contains 10 tracks of relentless Death/ Black with an astonishing production at Ron Vento's very own Nightsky Studios, blending elements that might evoke bands like early Hate Eternal, Angel Corpse, Immortal, Carcass, Nile, Emperor... but managed in a masterly way and with lyrics dealing about mythologic, cosmic and futuristic matters."
The "Worldshapers" album is set for release on March 1st, 2014 and you can hear an advance track below. More...
