Lead guitarist Richie Symons from Designs of Chaos has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band:
"To all friends and fans of Designs of Chaos,
"It's with a heavy heart that I have had to leave my post as guitarist for Designs of Chaos due to work commitments. I just wanted everyone to know how much I've enjoyed sharing the stage with these guys for the last 5 years and I wish them all well for the future. We've had some excellent reviews for our Chaos Engine CD and played some awesome shows in front of some amazing people and I'm very proud of what we've achieved.
"Thank you to all my friends that have supported me and believed in my abilities to pull this shit off and to my wife and kids for letting me commit to this. I would never have got to do this without you.
"A huge thanks to my brothers for life in D.O.C Jay for saving my bacon and coming along just when we needed you to re boot this thing, Scarthee for being my egg sandwich eating fart machine and for turning yourself into a most excellent bass player, Chris for being the meat and two veg of the band with his quality control and overwhelming beard designs and to last but my no means least my compadre in crime, my right hand man and to my friend Dean. Thank you brother for your patience and making me into the player I've become today I wouldn't be here without you.
"As for myself I will continue to play music and I will be on the look out to put something new together in the new year where I can practice more locally and regularly so Ill see you all again one day I hope."
Per Valla of Norwegian outfit Vredehammer has checked in with the following year-end announcement:
"So what has 2013 done for Vredehammer? This year we decided it was time to step out of our shells, leave the rehearsal-room, grab life by the balls and take our place in the international metal scene.
"We did our first live show in Trondheim, Norway in April this year. We managed to sign with a great label, (Indie Recordings). And our second live show ever was the first gig of a ten day tour as co-headliner with Six Feet Under. That`s not a bad accomplishment in one year I guess.
"Next year we will release the first full-length Vredehammer album, and we will hopefully do a couple of tours. We HOPE to get the chance to play at some metal festivals, but most of them are already packed, so only time will tell what happens.
"Anyways, I'm sure we will grow bigger and stronger through the course of 2014. And for those of you who are supporting us: Thank you SO much! See you around in 2014 metalheads!"

Intervals has released a new track, which can be heard below, and the band also issued the following statement:
"Alright everyone, here is the premier track, 'Ephemeral' from our upcoming record! We also have some exciting news!
"We're incredibly excited and proud to announce Mike Semesky as the band's singer. Intervals has always been about open minded, forward thinking, progressive music with no boundaries. It's also been about staying true to the art we feel compelled to make, and we couldn't be happier with the dynamic Mike brings to the music.
"For those who remember, the band put out a feeler for a vocalist with the release of 'The Space Between,' but in lieu of finding the right candidate, we decided to move forward with our initial intent: Make music. Mike joined the band as our bass player, but after only a few weeks of touring, it was apparent that this was the chemistry we were after all along. The human voice is an instrument and from our perspective, we are by definition, still an 'instrumental' band, now with added dimension and perspective.
"The band still retains it's identity in guitar driven, progressive rock/metal and there's something on this record for everyone. We couldn't be more thankful for the support you have all shown us over the past few years and we hope you continue to follow along on this journey we share. This release is our proudest musical accomplishment to date and we can't wait for everyone to hear it!" More...
