Seventh Wonder Posts Year-End Recap

Bassist Andreas Blomqvist of Seventh Wonder has checked in with the following year-end recap:

"It is always around this time of year that I try to just briefly summarize this past year and also try to lift the gaze beyond New Year's and look at what's at the horizon for Seventh Wonder.

"It has in some ways been a slower year than normally, or at least I fully respect that is the way it probably feels to all of you out there, our most loyal and beloved fans. We have really down prioritized throwing out videos or news updates, and also live performances have been scarce. Obviously Tommy’s time being spent to a great extent with Kamelot doesn’t accelerate things, but there are also some other reasons that will hopefully make things seem a little brighter….

"We usually write about 8-10 tracks for a new album and we have today no less than 9 songs demoed in our studio, albeit not completed definitely the lion’s share has been written. So rest assured we have really not just stopped writing, but we do progress in a little bit different way than before with Tommy being in and out. Also, somewhere maybe about half way through the year we had an epiphany and decided to do something special…. Unfortunately I *Still* can’t tell you exactly what we are up to but I really honestly feel it is something new and cool and something you will appreciate. More...

Marco Minnemann Appears On Amadeus Awad Album

Lebanese guitarist and composer Amadeus Awad has already worked with some of the greatest musicians from the world of prog in the past, including Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree fame, Russell Allen, Amanda Somerville, Mark Boals, and Kevin Moore to mention but a few.

Awad has two studio albums under his belt, 2011's "Ghost Stories" and 2012's "The Equinox." Now he has completed work on the upcoming album "Schizanimus," and the new songs feature Marco Minnemann on drums.

“The new songs being a bit on our heavy side, it required some intense drumming from one of the most interesting drummers on the international music scene. Our man for the job had to be the amazing Marco Minnemann who brought in some sick grooves to our already sick roller coaster of prog,” says Awad.

Asked about working with Awad, Minnemann said: "The music is great and I had a lot of fun drumming to it, I want to thank Amadeus for being such an appreciative musical mind, I'll be happy to play for him anytime."

Fallen Fate Announces New Album Details

North East England’s purveyors of modern metal Fallen Fate have announced an upcoming full album release. After storming the U.K. in 2011 with "The Virus Has Spread" the band is back and is ready to lay waste with new release "Into the Black" on January 30th, 2014.

"Into the Black" was recorded in part in Stymphalian Productions in York with producer James Stephenson and finished in vocalist Lee Skinner’s home studio. Skinner comments:

"Dark, Expressive and Heavy…The sound and feel of Fallen Fate has changed quite a bit since the release of 'The Virus Has Spread'. The band has progressed and developed a more solid metal sound while maintaining a unique mix of speed and heaviness in the music.

"Based on a horror movie theme around a young girl called Vespa the concept of 'Into The Black' plays a big part in how the album sounds and how it is visually portrayed through the artwork and upcoming videos. It contributed to the evolving sound of the band as we introduced more keyboards and experimental sounds into the mix, giving it a different dark feel and sound.

"She [Vespa] chose a life without faith and over time became possessed by a demon. The demon slowly took over her body and ultimately lead her to kill herself and her family. The drive behind the concept is to empower the listener to decide whether she was possessed by the Devil, as she has no saviour in her life, or if she was possessed by God, punishing her for her lack of faith." Savage Messiah Attempts To Rent Freemason Building

Earache Records has issued the following press release about U.K. band Savage Messiah being rebuffed by Freemasons while trying to rent a building for a photo shoot:

"Savage Messiah attempted to hire the UK Freemason headquarters for an upcoming photo shoot but were banned from entering the United Grand Lodge in London after the society considered the metal band’s name 'offensive' citing: 'There are concerns over the group’s name and we have to be conscious of our members.'

"The Fateful Dark, to be released March 2014, is the scintillating third album from the London based heavy metallers and thematically covers some of the rituals and controversy surrounding the secret society of Freemasonry.

"Cross of Babylon, the third track makes reference to a highly secretive Masonic ritual called The Red Cross of Babylon, whilst the eye-catching album artwork depicts themes of greed, power and corruption alongside Masonic iconography."

Savage Messiah frontman Dave Silver said: “Once more the dubiously hypocritical nature of religious groups has reared its head. We’ve been denied access to a building due to our apparently offensive name. I’m assuming that the word 'Savage' is the root of the consternation in question. This I find amusing from a group of people that adhere to a book that promotes slavery, genocide and celebrates a single human sacrifice as if it had any baring what so ever in the eradication of 'sin' or whatever that is supposed to be.

"If the band was called 'arse-fucked Messiah' I might understand their concern, however the very nature of the biblical myths is based on the most savage of human behaviours. Ironically most Christian churches depict the effigy of a brutal murder, the most violent of image of a man strung up, maimed, humiliated and sacrificed, yet us long haired, peace loving, free-thinking heavy metal louts are too 'Savage' to enter a building…such is the way of the world!”

Savage Messiah will release "The Fateful Dark" via Earache Records on CD and limited edition coloured vinyl this coming March 10th, 2014. More...
