Centurian Debuts New Song

Dutch death metal mongers Centurian have debuted a new track from their forthcoming third album, "Contra Rationem." The song, entitled "Judas Among Twelve," is streaming below. This is Centurian's first offering of new material in eleven years. "Contra Rationem" is slated for a 2013 release via Listenable Records. Main songwriter Rob Oorthuis commented on his vision about the authenticity, core and strength of the new album:

"Contra Rationem is an adversive record in the broadest sense of the word. It lacks all the ethics of contemporary productions. Leaving only the dynamic range of decay and rats exploring your skeleton. Through the rattle of bones...One might even hear flesh on instruments. We keep our death metal under-produced. All songs were nailed with conviction, without hesitation, in one take. Guided only by tongues of fire descending upon our heads. Uncorrected. As real as we are not."

September Murder Posts Song From Upcoming Album

September Murder has launched a stream of "In Celebration of Mankind's Wretchedness," which comes off the band's upcoming second album "He Who Invokes Decadence." Give the song a listen in the player below.

The band comments: "We've been working on our second album for the past two years. It took one year to write it and another on for the recordings and final production. By giving you first tangible information, we feel proud and relieved at the same time. This album turned out as the stiffest piece of work we've ever dedicated to, but rarely did a result inspired and spurred us likewise.

"Concerning our own concept of sound and song writing we wanted to tear down self-set boundaries and conquer new paths. Of particular importance was to push our creativity to the next level to show also ourselves in what degree we matured in our work and what our own musicality can offer us."

Yayla Streaming New Song

Yayla is a deep, dark black metal experience created by multi-instrumentalist/composer/filmmaker Emir Togrul. His new album, "Nihaihayat," is set for a January 21st release through Montreal-based Merdumgiriz Records. In what will surely be considered a high water mark for Turkish Black Metal, "Nihaihayat" is a five-track, 51-minute experience which was recorded, mixed and mastered by Cristobal Urbina and Emir Togrul from September through December.

Adding yet another personal element from Togrul, each "Nihaihayat" CD is handmade; Emir sprays the discs, cuts and inserts the prints for the jewel case and jacket, and pretty much makes the whole damn thing from scratch. Unsurprisingly, the Yayla shirts are hand-painted by him as well. Togrul is also co-owner of Merdumgiriz. Check out the tracklisting and cover art below, along with a stream of "Immortalizing the Nine" - a track also posted on Blistering webzine.

Baptists Announces Deput LP

Vancouver quartet Baptists will set loose a debut LP titled "Bushcraft" this February via Southern Lord. The following press release was issued about the band:

"Baptsists advocate a creed of destruction through a blistering, discordant hybrid of punk-fueled hardcore. Immediately following its 2010 formation, the sect took to the road and built a strong buzz in the underground scene with ferocious live shows, as Southern Lord unleashed the self-titled 7” in 2011, which sold out instantly.

"Having laid to waste several The Power Of The Riff events and a plethora of high-profile shows in Canada over the past few years, Baptists spent a good portion of 2012 vigilantly writing material for an anticipated LP release.

"For the recording, Baptists traveled to Salem, Massachusetts to record at the infamous Godcity studios with Kurt Ballou, who captured the eleven anthems embodied on Bushcraft. With nearly a half hour of unhinged lyrical angst and a seething vocal delivery propelled by white-knuckled snare-blasts, d-beat thunder, dissonant riff urgency and an overall relentless by-the-throat approach, Bushcraft is a release not to be ignored."

The "Bushcraft" album will drop in North America on February 19th, with Baptists live tour actions being devised in support of the release. Stay tuned as more details emerge.

The Crimson Armada Calling It Quits

Saud Ahmed of The Crimson Armada has posted the following statement online about the band calling it quits:

"Closure. A lot of people are wondering what in the world happened to this band. Jordan, TCA's last drummer wrote a statement but never really consulted our management nor the rest of the band before posting and thus the result was just a bunch of confusion. I am going to clear things up briefly as possible.

"Crimson broke up for a multitude of reasons. The first and primary reason was because of a lack of passion. It is no surprise the difference in sound between our two full lengths , Guardians and Conviction. Guardians was written over several years with the original members kyle, and david and myself (saud). The album reflected what we wanted to play and how I felt about things at the time. over the course of signing to metal blade records and latter years we didnt really receive the push we expected and I ended up going out and selling merch for other bands and finding other things to occupy my time like recording and engineering.

"Over what seemed like an eternity of waiting for things to move forward our musical tastes changed, and most importantly our religious views changed, mine especially. After Josh and David decided to leave our band we decided as a band to take a more secular route although I had already written a religious record. We planned on using conviction as a transition record to play music that was more fun to perform. It goes without saying, that the backlash we received was less than amusing however we decided to suck it up and continue on with our new label.

"Over the course of the tours that followed it seemed like we had a new lineup every time we hit the road. After a while the band became more of a chore than a job or anything that was fun really. No one warned us for the ridiculous amount of baggage that came with being a full time touring band. Every tour we went on we ran into some kind issue and someone quit and we ran through a new member every few months. Ultimately it just didn't feel right anymore. We were trying our best to keep things together all the while paying for most of our band expenses out of pocket.

"Bottom line the band died long before our last few tours. We were essentially a completely different band under the same name. It was obviously time to move on.

"I want to take this time to thank all of our fans for everything you've done for us. I can speak for all members that were ever in this band that we had an incredible time performing and travelling the country. I would not trade this experience for any amount of money or fame. I learned so many valuable lessons about being a musician, a professional, and a friend through this band and i owe it all to the fans and bands and bandmates and friends I've made over the years. Crimson definitely broke down my ego, forced me to grow up and opened my eyes to the real world. Thank you so much for this experience. More...

Baroness Posts Acoustic Song Footage

Baroness's John Baizley and Pete Adams have shared an acoustic performance of "Stretchmarker," which can be viewed below or at the band's website. The clip, recorded in Baizley's Philadelphia art studio, marks the first performance the band members have shared since their bus accident in August.

"Simply put: it's time to get back to it. Since my belated and thankful return to the USA (after our painful test in motor coach-aeronautics) I can definitively say I've exhausted my reserve of potential leisure activities (there's not that many of them, after all)," explained Baizley. "I've come dreadfully close to boredom, and in those moments I can't help but focus on my glaring physical infirmities. Television offers little respite from this relative stasis; I'm sure by now I have sampled every biker-meth-dealer-zombie-low-talking-cop-crime-scene-serial-killer-real-housewife soap opera that is currently being broadcast (and there's no small number of them). I've tried to fill my weekly routine with as much physical therapy as possible but the truth is, PT is not fun, and its benefits come with a great deal of mental/physical/spiritual pain and struggle. Furthermore, I believe I am getting a touch of Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to my doctors and therapists (the highlight of my week should NOT involve a clinic).

"Music might be the best therapy I have right now. Perhaps it's both the cause and the cure (the thought has crossed my mind); but I feel lost without it. Pete and I have just spent a long week surveying our musical wreckage and, surprisingly, we are quite well and intact. Sure, there are some substantial obstacles to overcome before we write, record or perform any time soon; but we still have everything we need to get 'back in' that particular 'saddle again.' Most of my peers are familiar with such high-school-gym-teacher poeticisms as 'risk equals reward' and 'no pain, no gain;' but did any of us every really believe there was any real wisdom in those adolescent platitudes? I didn't. I am, however, starting to understand the essence of these and many of our other favorite clichés. More...
