Connecticut black metal band Autolatry has checked in with the following announcement about upcoming activity in 2014:

"To give you an idea, we are finishing new material for a split release, thoroughly in the writing process for the next full-length record, evaluating our band's lineup, building a studio, and planning the next slate of shows/tours.

"We appreciate your patience and we are confident that our next musical output will blow you all away. Thanks for everything y'all; we'll try to post more regular updates on our progress from the point forward." More...

Munruthel's "CREEDamage" Seeing Vinyl Release

In February of 2014 Possession Productions, in cooperation with Svarga Music, will release a vinyl version of "CREEDamage" - the fifth album from Ukrainian pagan metal band Munruthel. The following press release was also issued about the album:

"Performed in the finest traditions of Symphonic Pagan Metal, the new album features guest vocals from Masha 'Scream' (ARKONA) and Wulfstan (FOREFATHER), as well as a cracking cover of BATHORY's 'The Lake.' The vinyl version contains exclusive bonus track 'Crucible of War.'

"MUNRUTHEL's most mature work to date, the album's musical canvas is decorated not only with the atmospheric dabs inherent in early works of the project's composer, but also with the aggressive riffing first heard on 'Oriana Tales' and fully revealed on 'Epoch of Aquarius.' 'CREEDamage' will be more interesting to the admirers of a heavy guitar sound that is matched with powerful orchestral arrangements and graceful atmospherics.

"The album concept covers topics that have been explored by the composer since MUNRUTHEL's origin in 1995. Specifically, it concerns his boundless love for Mother Nature, as an embodiment of native, natural beliefs and a primordial pagan outlook. The track 'Carpathians' Shield' is dedicated to the memory of last known Molphar (traditional sorcerer by birth in Carpathian culture) Mikhail Nechay (24.02.1930 - 14.07.2011), who was killed in the summer of 2011 by a Christian zealot.

"The album comes in Gatefold DLP with artwork by Mstibog, and layout design by Al.Ex {Mayhem Design} and RA design."

Insomnium Checks In From The Studio

Insomnium is currently in the studio working on the follow-up release to "One For Sorrow" (reviewed here). The band has checked in with the following recording update:

"We’ve now recorded rhythm guitars for 5 songs. In addition to Marshall+EVH combo we’re also using Mesa Single Rectifier and my seven stringed Mayones to add some more depth and fatness to the sound.

"The new material is definitely more varied than before. For example, we’re flirting a bit with death/black metal vibe with some of the songs. Nevertheless, everything sounds very much like Insomnium and I guess that’s mainly due to our 'trademark' melodies.

"We’re splitting rhythm parts pretty much equally with Markus and also try out different guitar arrangements as we go. All in all, the mood is very relaxed and we’re making good progress without too much pressure and stress."

Insomnium has also uploaded a series of photos from the studio, which can be found at Facebook here.

Suicidal Angels Joined By Teen Guitarist

At a festival appearance this summer Suicidal Angels was joined on the stage by a 15 year old fan who performed alongside the band. Footage is available below, and Suicidal Angels comments:

"Schoolwave festival, summer 2013: when we were asked from the festival's production, to have as a guest in the middle of our set, a young boy, we didn’t give it a second thought, it was a dead end!

"What’s best than to give the chance to somebody to do something, that in his age of 15, yourself, never ever dreamed of. And John, took advantage of the opportunity given, to perform in a big stage, in a large audience, gave some hard time to his guitar and in the end left with a huge smile.

"We're quite sure that we will read for him and his band in all press, not only in Greece but also abroad, in the near future! Enjoy!"

The new Suicidal Angels album "Divide & Conquer" drops on January 10th (EU) and January 14th (North America) via NoiseArt Records.
