Terror Empire Recruits New Drummer
Portuguese thrash outfit Terror Empire has recruited new drummer João Dourado. The band also issued the following year end recap:
"2013... It's been a crazy year, one that marks the end of the touring behind 'Face the Terror,' the album that put us on the map.
"It's also been the first time we ever had to do a permanent line-up change, on the drumkit. It's not easy to see a friend go, but we were very fortunate when finding a replacement!
"Apart from performing regular shows all over the country - making a whole set of new friends - we went abroad for the first time, and we played in Moita Metal Fest, Areeiro Open Air, Hard Club, No Barriers Tour and Lousã's São João... it was friggin' amazing!
"2014 will be a crucial year for Terror Empire. We're already writing new songs for the new album. Some are groovier and catchier, but we can promise you a new type of brutality thrash metal has been begging to experience for a long time, now - faster, harsher! We will also continue to point out how fucked up our world really is, it has to be done...
"Thank you all for the amazing support. If you have the time to give us a present, simply tell a friend about us. It would mean alot to us!" More...

Cult Of Luna Comments On The Band's Future
Cult of Luna has checked in with the following statement about the band's current status and upcoming activity:
"We are not quitting. 2013 has been a very active year for us and neither do we want or think it is good to continue in that pace.
"We will not be a band that put out an album every 18-24 months anymore. We did that for almost 10 years when we were younger and were able to focus more on the music.
"After 'Beyond the Redshift' we might do a festival or two but after that we have nothing planned.
Maybe we'll release another album next year or maybe in a decade, we honestly don't know.
"Sooner or later we will return in one form or another. Cult of Luna will not die."
The band also issued this statement previously about appearing at the Beyond The Redshift festival:
"The Beyond the Redshift festival in London on May the 10th will be a very special show for Cult of Luna. It will mark the end of an era and after that we will slowly disappear before we reappear again in some form in some indefinite future.
"Because of that Klas will join us on stage for the last time and we will play a whole lot of old songs which we haven't played for years or ever."

Austin Pledges Allegiance to Suicidal Tendencies
December 12, 2013-- Flip baseball caps, blue bandannas and button shirts welcomed Suicidal Tendencies to the Mohawk in Austin, Texas. In a sense, the group was in town to visit old friends--fans with a devotion that stretched back to the early '80s. A large faction of youth, possibly the children of these older fans, helped provide the spark to keep ST's fire burning bright. This is not saying the older crowd members ever lost their passion for the group; I witnessed men in their '40s stage diving, crowd surfing and slamming to one of Los Angeles' most popular heavy acts.
Suicidal's musical mash-up of hardcore punk, thrash and funk works well with a variety of styles. I first witnessed the unbridled energy of ST front man, Mike Muir in 1992 on MTV's Headbangers Ball tour with Megadeth. That tour was marketed to the thrash crowd. Back then "Cyco Miko" burned up a stage several times larger than at the Palace of Auburn Hills near Detroit, Michigan than Mohawk's outdoor stage. Tonight's tour, dubbed "Slam City" after the track on the group's latest full-length recording "13," focused on the band's hardcore side with supporting acts, Terror and Trash Talk. More...

Earth Crisis Reveals New Album Details
Candlelight Records today confirms March 3rd for Europe and March 4th as the North American release date for "Salvation of Innocents," the label debut from hardcore/metal pioneers Earth Crisis.
Mixed by Zeuss (Agnostic Front, Terror, Hatebreed), the album and its lead single, "The Morbid Glare," will be available for preorder via iTunes and other digital platforms beginning January 21st.
"Salvation of Innocents" features twelve new tracks from the Syracuse-formed band. Guitarist Scott Crouse shares, "The process for this album was new for us. We did most of it ourselves. The absence of pressure having to get things done by a certain time each day really gave us the freedom to try new ideas and critically listen to the songs. From the music, to the lyrical concept, to the comic book that brings the lyrics to life, we think we've created something pretty unique."
The comic book Crouse mentions is the pairing of Earth Crisis with Black Mask Studios' Liberator comic. The hard-edged vigilante series will release its fifth edition simultaneously with the release of "Salvation of Innocents."
The Matt Miner created comic brings its main character and the album's vivisection concept together in a commanding graphic landscape. Black Mask Studios co-founder Matt Pizzolo says, "It is crazy to me that it took twenty years for comics to produce a set of animal-minded vigilantes strong enough to roll with Earth Crisis. It is probably the most perfectly aligned superhero team-up ever." More...

"Evocation is extremely proud to add such a raw and pure talent who has lived and breathed Death Metal since he was spawned. Simon and all the guys from AYD have been close friends of Evocation since the reunion in 2005 and Simon has also worked for Evocation as crew and studio engineer. So for Evocation it was an easy and obvious choice since his guitar playing is brilliant and the chemistry between him and the rest of the band has always been great. More...
