Today, Brooklyn threesome Tidal Arms hurls forth another canticle from a forthcoming new self-titled full-length.
Titled "Molasses," the tune -- based on the Great Molasses Flood where a massive tidal wave of molasses destroyed a large area of Boston's North End in 1919 -- is currently monopolizing the airwaves courtesy of Vice/Noisey. Give the track a listen below.
All proceeds raised from the sale of the song will be used to help restore Brooklyn's Translator Audio and The South Sound rehearsal studios, which were destroyed in Hurricane Sandy last year.
Relays guitarist/vocalist Tom Tierney: "Andrew Schneider from Translator Audio has made some of our favorite records, recorded our first 7" and mixed [Tidal Arms debut] The Sun Exploding, and shares our love for the bizarre story of the Molasses Flood. His studio, Translator Audio and The South Sound rehearsal studios, were tragically destroyed in Hurricane Sandy. They're starting over, and we're releasing 'Molasses' as a fundraiser for the rebuild. Proceeds from the sale of the song go to Translator Audio and The South Sound."
Tidal Arms will unleash a vinyl edition of the self-titled record via Black Numbers on the new date of November 26th, 2013. You can also see the band live:

Hamilton, Ontario-based aggressors Haymaker today confirm the pending release of their first new material to hit the streets in nearly a decade, having recently harnessed a clenched handful of new tracks.
Get your head kicked in with the title track to the pending EP now in the player below, courtesy of Noisey.Vice.com. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"A riotous hardcore/punk splinter group formed by auditory predators who have spent/continue to invest time attacking society's ills in Left For Dead, Chokehold and The Swarm among others, Haymaker has a disreputably proud résumé for the majority of their sporadic live excursions beginning with antagonizing the crowd and their set ending early due to the engagement of volatile entanglements with other humans in attendance.
"Among a rash of other audio beatings the brawlers have dished out since their Y2K formation, perpetrated by Deranged Records, Deep Six and other key underground punk/hardcore mongers, the band recently recorded their newest works since their 2004-reelased Lost Tribe 7", now pending release as Let Them Rot. The new 7" release will bring four new tracks onto the dance floor via A389 Recordings February 1st, 2014.
"The Let Them Rot 7" will hit just two weeks after Haymaker's confirmed riot-inducing one-off appearance at the A389's tenth anniversary Bash in Baltimore, Maryland January 17th and 18th, where they'll perform alongside Bloodlet's exclusive one-off reunion, the one-time reformation of Integrity's Systems Overload lineup, exclusive performances from In Cold Blood, All Out War and Infest, as well as Noisem, Full Of Hell, Empire of Rats and a battalion of other fine acts." For the last two years animators Myke Chillian and Tommy Meehan have been working with the members of GWAR to create a "GWARtoon" that was appropriately disgusting and objectionable enough to most accurately represent the most dangerous band in rock and roll history.
After all this long and hard work, today Funny or Die finally premieres "The Animated Tales of GWAR". Check it out right here.
Animator Myke Chillian comments: "Lead singer Oderus Urungus loses his murderous-mojo prompting the rest of the band to embark on an Antarctic quest for the cure. Weird Al Yankovic guest stars."
Brutal front-fiend Oderus Urungus had this to say about the project: "I hate cartoons...cartoons are for kids, and kids are strictly for eating. But I just might have to back up a little and say that this is the greatest cartoon ever, even if I still hate it, just because it's about US."

Selfmadegod Records is proud to announce the pending release of a vicious split CD between Swedish death metal division, Usurpess, and international grindcore unit, Bent Sea. The label comments:
"The Usurpress side includes three brand new songs of the pure crust-fueled Swedish death metal the band is becoming infamous for, recorded March 2013 with producer Erik Sundström. Self-dubbing their brutal brew as 'death crust,' the band disburses short, aggressive songs based around weird, dissonant death metal riffs and raw, primitive d-beats.
"Formed in Uppsala, Sweden in 2010, the musical aim of founding members Steffe Pettersson (vocals), Påhl Sundström (guitar) and Calle Andersson (drums) was, and still is, to combine the bestiality of old death metal and the undying hate of true hardcore/punk. The band was later joined by renowned death metal-expert Daniel Ekeroth (bass), and have subsequently released their In Permanent Twilight EP and following 2012 debut full-length, Trenches Of The Netherworld, both via Selfmadegod, in addition to splits with Bombs Of Hades and Pyramido. The members hail from a diverse array of musical backgrounds, but their common ground is the love and understanding for all kinds of dark and aggressive underground music.
"On an angst-driven evening in January 2011, multi-instrumentalist Dirk Verbeuren (Aborted, Scarve, Soilwork) carved grindcore act Bent Sea out of his disembowling passion for the noise that permeated the air of his teenage years. Equipped with an arsenal of enraged beats and ferocious riffage, Verbeuren created an assaulting army of tracks, enlisting his Aborted bandmate and fellow Belgian Sven De Caluwe to call the formations. Later on the band was joined by legendary Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury. More...

February 2014 sees the two-piece half-German/half-Turkish monster Mantar will release a debut album on Svart Records.
Recorded earlier in 2013 and titled "Death By Burning," the album is a raw, self-produced, and 100% DIY display of power. Svart Records will unleash the black 10-track attack on February 7th, 2014 on CD, LP, tape, and digital. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Mantar manages to sound even heavier than most five-piece bands you may know, in spite of the fact that no bass guitar was used on Death by Burning - just drums and guitar set for destruction. Forget about rock 'n' roll: this will hurt. Flogging beats and blackened melodies meet feedback orgies and doom mayhem - early Melvins, Motorhead, Darkthrone, you name it. Don't call it sludge, though. Everything as black as possible, a soundtrack for the final battle." More...

There are only few days left until the release of the second Hell record "Curse And Chapter" (reviewed here), which will be out on November 22nd.
Kev Bower (guitars, keyboards, main songwriter) has now checked in to talk about the track listing for the album. Check out his full track-by-track breakdown below, and Kev also comments:
"Following up 'Human Remains' was never going to be an easy task. The multiple 'Album Of The Year' awards, the amazing reaction from fans and the media alike - we always knew that our second album was going to have to be something quite special. And so it was with this in mind, that work started seriously almost two years ago, with myself and Andy Sneap laying down the first rough song studio demos - songs which the band would take out on the road, playing some of them at selected shows throughout 2012 and early 2013 to try them out on audiences first, before committing them to a proper recording. That proved to be a valuable experience, with the songs evolving, changing and developing into what everyone will hear on the finished album. Here's a short resume of the tracklist, and how everything came together." More...
After releasing a new music video for "The Individualist" (available below), Walking Corpse Syndrome now has some bad news: the band's violin player and bassist will be departing. WCS comments:
"Our good friend William 'Sludge' Saylor will be quitting Walking Corpse Syndrome. We wish him the best of luck as he pursues other opportunities. This is especially hard to announce since Bill and his unique bass and violin parts have been an integral part of the band since our very first show in April 2007.
"His last show will be November 23 at the Top Hat in Missoula Montana, after which we will immediately begin holding auditions to find our next bassist. We don't anticipate being able to find a bassist who also plays violin, so this next show will probably be our last one to feature violin.
"We understand that this will inevitably change the dynamic of the band, but we hope that you will stay with us as we travel down this musical path. We hope to see you all on November 23 so we can give Bill a proper send off." More...

"There goes the neighborhood," Ice-T loudly exclaimed. The rapper/actor wasn't here to shoot a commercial or drop a beat. At this moment, the second day of FFF 2013 in Auditorium Shores park, he was "in the house" with his metallic creation, Body Count. The song in question, which deals with the prejudices of black people playing rock music, took on a different context after Ice-T explained Austin, Texas marked the beginning of legal trouble he experienced with "Cop Killer." Because of the controversy surrounding this song from the group's self-titled debut, and I didn't even know Austin's PD chief instigated the controversy, I wondered if we would hear this infamous track. Detroit-based prog-metal outfit Imminent Sonic Destruction has completed the search to replace drummer Pat DeLeon, who left the band earlier this year. After several auditions, the group has tapped Dan Chapa (Switchline, Rockstar) to be the new member of ISD.
Following a North American tour with Pain of Salvation and Kingcrow, Imminent Sonic Destruction began working on new music. The departure of DeLeon sidetracked this effort temporarily, and the band shifted focus to finding a new member who had the right mix of personality, humor and talent to take over the job. Chapa turned out to be all of those things, as well as an imposing physical specimen at 6'7" tall.
"Dan showed up with a tiny kit and proceeded to blow us away with his rendition of our songs," said guitarist and lead vocalist Tony Piccoli of the audition. "His technical ability, feel, sense of dynamics and showmanship are exactly what we were looking for. Right away, we all knew he was the guy to help us spread our own unique brand of Progressive Super Metal to the far corners of the globe. Which, interestingly, doesn't have corners."
Chapa had this to say: "I was honored to be asked to audition, and thankful to be chosen. This is a great group of people as well as great musicians. Needless to say, I can't wait to get to work!"
Italian symphonic metal act Sound Storm released a new lyric video for the track "Bloody Tears." The song appears as a bonus track on the band's latest album "Immortalia" (see review here). The album was released in 2012 via Scarlet Records.

For the tour, the band will be joined by David Folchitto (Stormlord) on drums and Lisy Stefanoni (Evenoire) on backing vocals due to the fact that the band's own drummer Federico Brignolo and vocalist Ilaria Lucille De Santis will not be able to take part due to personal reasons. The band is also in the process of writing the follow up album - see update here.
