As the official unveiling of Tidal Arms' self-titled sophomore release draws near, today the gatekeepers at Revolvermag.com deliver second track "Mirrorbox" to the masses. Give the track a listen below.
The album was self-produced and mixed by guitarist/vocalist Tom Tierney and Alex Mead-Fox at the band's own Spaceman Sound in Greenpoint, and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music.
Drummer Francis Mark comments: "'Mirrorbox' is all about musical reflections. It's possible that the flipped groove drum beat in the verses was inspired by the third verse of 'Just What I Needed' by the Cars, when David Robinson flips the beat. We named that part 'Mirrorbox,' then came up with the chorus guitar part. Someone joked that we should play the mirror image of the chorus riff, so of course we had to. We recorded the riff, played it back in reverse, then learned what we heard. The outro of 'Mirrorbox' is the chorus riff performed in reverse. Lyrically, the song is an abstract meditation on the end of an era, beckoning the beginning of another." More...

On the heels of last week’s unveiling of the track “Screwtape,” Living Sacrifice is ready to give fans another taste of what to expect from new album "Ghost Thief" by streaming the title track. Give it a listen below, courtesy of Revolvermag.com.
Set to drop November 11th on Solid State Records, "Ghost Thief" is the band’s 8th studio album overall and first new material since 2010’s "The Infinite Order."
“Ghost Thief was a tune that emerged out of a group writing session,” says vocalist/guitarist Bruce Fitzhugh. “A few riffs that we were throwing around from other songs that ended up going together well for this one. It is one of the more straightforward mid-tempo songs that we have on the record. Lyrically it speaks of how quickly our lives pass. Even if we are blessed to live 80 or 90 years, that is just not very long when calculating humanity's existence as a whole. So the song refers to the hope that we have in an afterlife and what that existence might look like.” More...
Rabbits is at it again: steadfast in the determination to not give a shit what you or anyone else thinks, the band burrowed deep into its own rabbit hole to scrape together a mish-mash of down-and-dirty tracks from every corner of its storied past.
"SOS (Singles, Other Shit)" is a disturbing and dissonant distress signal from the underground assembled from LP session bonus tracks, 7-inch tracks, unreleased demos, radio performances, alternate versions, and practice space jams recorded from 2006 to 2013.
With few overdubs and mostly single live takes, these tracks capture Rabbits cranking out bludgeoning full-throttle hardcore noise rock until your ears are ringing and you see stars; pummeling drums, gnarled guitars, maniacal vocals, and deranged solos. The A-side comprises six original songs, while the B-side collects nine covers of '80s punk and hardcore songs.
Eolian Empire will deposit "SOS (Singles, Other Shit)" December 3rd via digital download and cassette. The tape will also be released in Europe on Czech label Stoned to Death at an undisclosed date to be figured out. A video for "No (More) Depth" from will also be released in the coming days. We're building a sweet studio; we want to put out new music and videos on a regular basis, so that fans don't have to wait through long dry spells between albums to hear something new from us. This fundraiser will enable us to make that happen.”
Vocalist Rob Kersey concurs, saying, “Having our own studio and the ability to record songs right away will be a huge dream come true for us. We literally have around a hundred or so song ideas that often get put on the back burner, but with this sweet setup we can finally become that recording machine we've always wanted to be. This fundraiser along with our amazing fans can help us fuel this machine for more brutal laughs in the years to come.” More...

On October 29th at the storied War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, TN, a rather unusual tour lineup shook things up a bit. Asking Alexandria rolled in, bringing All That Remains with them, along with the veterans of Sevendust, as well as the younger For Today and Emmure. If the lineup didn’t involve Sevendust or All That Remains, it would have made more sense. All That Remains wasn’t stretching it, really, but including Sevendust with this largely metalcore bunch? I scratched my head at that choice.
It was a bizarre experience. More...

Luca Turilli's Rhapsody announced the first details on the upcoming new release "Prometheus: Symphonia Ignis Divinus." The album is targeted for 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records. The press release reads:
"Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody are proud to reveal the first news about their new album, scheduled to be recorded and mixed once again in the Backyard Studios of Sebastian Roeder (Kempten, Germany) and released by Nuclear Blast in 2014."
Vocalist Alessandro Conti commented: "This album is very important to all of us. Behind it there is the ambitious goal of creating one of the most epic and cinematic albums ever written. Prepare yourselves for an amazing journey ranging from the myths and legends of the past to the unexplored borders of space and time, the revelations of quantum mechanics and beyond, while exploring the multi-dimensional levels of psyche and consciousness and the intimate secrets of heart and soul on the path of spiritual evolution. In short words: a roller-coaster ride of extreme emotions. Be ready!"
Luca Turilli added: "I recently gave birth to my company Luca Turilli Music Productions (http://www.lucaturilli.com/) and have partnered with great artists such as the US producer/re-mixer/mixer Allen Morgan (U2, Nine Inch Nails, Taylor Swift) and the Czech conductor Petr Pololanik (nominated for "Hollywood Music in Media Awards" in 2011) to start composing emotional music with impact, mainly for the world of cinema and the video games. What I can say is that I am composing, writing and producing the guitar parts and the orchestral and choral arrangements for this new Rhapsody album in the same exact way I would and will do it while scoring movie trailers or video game soundtracks. Therefore expect moments of high tension, pure action and adrenalin for a final result never heard before. In other words: the definitive consecration of CINEMATIC METAL!”
More news and videos, including exclusive “behind the scenes footage” directly from Luca Turilli’s home studio will be coming soon.

Chicago blackened death thrash troupe Immortal Bird is pleased to announce the release of a debut EP.
Titled "Akrasia," the abrasive manifestation of audio filth was recorded at Lo-Tech Laboratories this past summer by Windy City sound sorcerer Jeff Ziolo, mixed by Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studio, mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, and delivers four scathingly visceral tracks of torment.
Comments drummer/front woman Rae Amitay of the offering: "'Akrasia' is the state of acting against one's better judgment, or weakness of will. The EP is centered around this concept, and the tracks serve to explore feelings of rage, resentment, and anguish that have resulted from 'akratic' behavior -- mostly my own. The riffs, lyrics, and overall tone are meant to reflect both intensely caustic anger and moments of poignant self-realization.
"Writing and recording this EP was initially intended to be a cathartic and one-time experience, signifying the beginning and the end of Immortal Bird, but after collaborating with my bandmates and performing live, I've realized that this is a project that will press onward both in the studio and on the road. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to work with Kurt Ballou and Brad Boatright, as they're complete commanders of their craft. This music could not have been placed in better hands, and that is an amazing feeling." More...
Brescia, Italy metal outfit Tragodia is out now with new album "Mythmaker," which was recorded at Elfo Studio in Piacenza, Italy by producer Daniele Mandelli and then mastered at Sterling Sound in New York.
Today Metalunderground.com is pleased to bring you a full preview of the entire album. Hear all the tracks from "Mythmaker" in the player below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.
The band comments on the newly released album:
"Both the themes and the lyrics on Mythmaker are 'epic:' they talk about past times, classical age and especially the ancient Greek world, with its myths and literature playing a big role and happily tying in with the music. Themes such as decline, decadence, fall of human societies through the ages are recurrent in our lyrics; I would say that we are keen on a decadent way to being epic; we sing more about loss and failure than victories."
