Released concurrently with holiday Bonfire Night, SSS vocalist Foxy added, ”The 5th of November, ‘Bonfire Night,’ in the UK has historically been a day of dissent. The release date for ‘Manipulated Living’ on this national day of civil disobedience is apt. Instead of swallowing a diet of low-grade universal deceit, choke down some ‘Beige’ instead. It’s packed chock-full of grind and hardcore nutrition, with a mosh-heavy aftertaste to wake you up. Express yourself to the fullest extent in a nonviolent peaceful manner on this day – light the blue touch paper and stand well back.” More...

"After spending the summer at home in Venice jamming and skating pools were ready to pile our full stacks and road rats back in the van and cruise the USA alongside Red Fang," comments The Shrine vocalist and six string ripper Josh Landau. "If you see a smoking, dented Econoline van on the side of America's endless highway filled with retards messing around with snow chains, give your brothers a hand. Caliban has revealed the unique cover art for upcoming album, "Ghost Empire," which is scheduled to be released on February 4th in North America via Century Media Records. Caliban guitarist Marc Görtz comments on the artwork created by U.K. artist Chris Lovell:
"Another great artist told me about Chris and his art; when I checked out his page I loved his style and amazing drawings straight away... I told him what the album is about and he said that he would love to do it. It didn't take long for him to come up with first ideas which were amazing! I hope we can work with him on other projects in the future; he is a great guy and easy to work with and I think the result speaks for itself!"
Chris Lovell, the creator of the image, explains how this custom piece of art came to life:
"I have been heavily into metal since the age of 12. It's always nice when a band I am a fan of contacts me with a brief for a project. I was stoked to read Marc's ideas as post-apocalyptic imagery is something I have an obsession with. I grew up loving films like 'Mad Max', 'Cyborg' and the 'Fist Of The North Star' anime. There's something about destroyed buildings and wastelands that stir my imagination and conjure up all kinds of haunting images in my head. It's also much more fun and easier to draw ruined buildings than perfect ones!
"Marc and I brainstormed ideas one evening and we came up with lots of elements we liked such as crows, scarecrows, rats, etc. I sketched out a very rough concept idea and layout for the basic image. The front and back cover is all in one, so I had a nice wide landscape to work with. I liked the idea of a road on the main cover, leading to what could look like a hive of collapsed skyscrapers and buildings leaning on each other and climbing into the clouds. On the left side, a cliff face leading down to stormy seas and a shoreline littered with shipwrecks and capsized boats. More...
2013 has been a big year for Tyler, TX metallers Fit For A King. The band released Solid State Records debut "Creation/Destruction" in March, and only 8 months later the group has another treat for longtime fans: a completely re-recorded version of 2011’s "Descendants" - the very release that caused Solid State to take notice of the band in the first place.
“When we tracked Descendants originally we were a local band with an extremely limited budget and the songs just didn't turn out exactly how we wanted them to,” says vocalist Ryan Kirby. “So with this re-release we set out, with the help of Solid State, to completely re-do Descendants, exactly the way we envisioned it. For old fans we believe the adjustments we made and the production quality will make it like a new release. For new listeners it will help them hear the progression we made from Descendants to Creation/Destruction. Plus adding a new song to the mix never hurts!”
The completely overhauled release features guest appearances by Memphis May Fire's Matty Mullins and Ivoryline's Jeremy Gray but, along with a brand-new track entitled “Keep Me Alive.”
Pre-orders for the impending re-release can be found at the Solid State Records website here.
As was announced yesterday, Dying Fetus has been confirmed to play the 2014 edition of the Download Festival in the UK. The death metal powerhouse will play alongside headliners Aerosmith, Avenged Sevenfold, and Linkin Park at the festival that takes place in June at Donington Park, Derbyshire.
Public pressure for the band to be added to the line up had been mounting since Monday, when in response to Metal Hammer UK's announcement of Avenged Sevenfold as headliners, one disgruntled fan questioned, "Why not Dying Fetus?" A social media whirlwind followed, with #whynotdyingfetustrending on various social platforms.
John Gallagher (Guitar, Vocals) comments: "The people have spoken and now it's time to piss in the mainstream! This started as a joke but has turned into something truly incredible! Never under estimate the power of the internet. Big thanks to all our undying fans for making this happen and for the promoters of Download for having the courage to invite us on the fest! Cheers!"
Download festival promoter Andy Copping comments: "When #whynotdyingfetus started circulating on Monday, it gained too much momentum to ignore, so calling the band and asking them to play at next year’s Download was a no brainer. I’m thrilled to say that they seem as excited about it as we are. ‘Why not Dying Fetus?’ you asked. We say ‘Why the hell not?"
Dying Fetus will also join Hypocrisy and Heaven Shall Burn on a trek across Europe on these dates in November and December: More...
Today the evil doers at Metal Injection wage serious "Infliction" upon unsuspecting souls with the latest video from New York death metal band Pyrexia.

Comments guitarist Chris Basile, "We wanted to do something completely different than what everyone else is putting out. Kind of like our music. Something that the viewer/listener can watch and as soon as it's over be like, 'Holy shit! What the Hell did I just watch?," and want to watch it again and again to see what they missed."
Pyrexia's latest full-length, "Feast of Iniquity," was released last week via Unique Leader Records. More...

Comments lead vocalist Whiplasher Bernadotte on the forthcoming full-length: "Deathstars is an adventure for us. It’s as if it is a phenomenon of it’s own, and our forum for destruction, glitter and darkness. We are very excited about the new material and every time we hit the studio we never know what the outcome will be, I mean we have a general idea but we’re never a 100% sure how the final result will be until we’re done and can sit back and listen to it." German thrash metal institution Destruction has announced an exclusive headliner show celebrating 30 year of total destruction.
The show will take place on November 15th, 2013 at Helvete Oberhausen. Supporting Destruction on that night will be Polish thrash outlet War-Saw and Swedish retro rockers Year of the Goat. Commented Destruction front destroyer Schmier:
"2013 was a very busy year for Destruction, we have played the biggest festivals around the globe and we headlined in the venues & clubs of this round earth. Unfortunately we couldn’t do this earlier, but now at the end of our 30th anniversary we are most happy to announce that there will be a 'Best of 30 years' show in Germany as well. After so many years and records it is still a challenge to put up a setlist.
"For our headliner shows we have a special song selection and an extended concert for all of you that will blow the fans’ minds for decades to come. I love playing festivals, but Thrash Metal & Destruction work out best in a sweaty club! It has been a while since we have been in the Ruhr Area and we are really looking forward to the gig at Helvete!”
Tickets are available online at this location.

Housecore Horror Film and Heavy metal festival masterminds, Corey Mitchell and Philip H. Anselmo brought Austin, Texas a rare entertainment opportunity, packaged in human flesh, marred by celluloid cigarette burns--a four-day, multi-stage, multi-tent, multi-everything horror-movie festival. Industry people arrived from all around the world to help support this lofty endeavor.
The gorier the better as many of the major stars of the film portion of the festival had participated in legendary blood spillers such as the "Nekromantik" film series (Director Jörg Buttgereit ), "Coffin Joe" (Director José Mojica Marins ) and "Friday the 13th." Ari Lehman made film history when Jason Voorhees finally sprung to life after the murder of his mother. Lehman attended the festival not only as a film celebrity, but as a musician. Nefarious of Macabre joined Lehman on stage in his First Jason band to perform campy horror metal songs about that guy in the hockey mask. More...
Metalcore and deathcore have become polarizing genres within the sphere of heavy metal, although the fans of both are just as fervent as the other genres, if not moreso. The lyrical sides of these genres are quickly becoming known for their earnest natures, cutting out the bullshit that several other genres tend to lather themselves up in to define themselves.
Hitting Nashville on the night of November 4th at the wonderfully eccentric Rocketown was a group of bands that take the high road, headlined by August Burns Red and assisted by Blessthefall, Defeater, and Beartooth. It was an unusually early show, with myself and bunches of attendees still in the security line awaiting entry while Beartooth were playing, having started promptly at 6:30.

The album will be the follow up to the self-released "Fólkvangr" EP that was issued in 2012.
