On this album we just did what we felt like doing, we wrote and shouted everything from the soul. This is our most honest and emotional album we've written so far and I think it will speak to a lot of people." More...

Dynazty Posts New Music Video Online

There are plenty of reasons why musicians succeed in getting the optimum out of their creative talent. In case of Swedish melodic metal act Dynazty and their forthcoming, eighth studio album, "Final Advent," the extra time forced upon them by the pandemic may have been one important factor, but it would be short-sighted to attribute their impressive new material solely to the time they had to write, record and produce their new offering. At the end of the day, Dynazty appears as an ambitious band who has invested all their talent and experience, combined with a healthy dose of enthusiasm, ambition and tremendous compositional and musical expertise.

Fans have been patiently awaiting the band’s upcoming magnum opus, but this summer, your wait is finally over! Final Advent has been announced for a release on August 26, 2022 through AFM Records, and will mark the band’s most cohesive, imaginative, complex and at the same time most homogeneous album to date in Dynazty’s 15-year career. But give ear, as today the Stockholm-based quintet released a third album single taken of their Final Advent! A dreamy and epic tale of lust and loss packed within a crescendo of musical arrangements and performances - "Yours" represents a stand out and centerpiece track on the new Dynazty album.

Says vocalist Nils Molin: "Call it a power ballad if you will, but to me it's simply a powerful song, albeit in a slower and more dynamic way than most our stuff. One of my favourites!" More...

They continue: "The title track from the record, much like the video, is no frills, in your face and makes no apologies musically, lyrically or conceptually. The entire world answers to one determinant factor and that's violence; both physical and mental." More...

James LaBrie Reveals New Solo Album Details

James LaBrie, known internationally as the vocalist for progressive metal icons Dream Theater, embarks on uncharted waters with his fourth solo album, titled "Beautiful Shade Of Grey," out 20th May 2022. Today sees the launch of the album’s first single and opening track, "Devil In Drag," and you can watch the Wayne Joyner-produced video below.

The new endeavor sees him traverse personal maturation, loss, a myriad of complex relationships, and most importantly – LaBrie's burning passion for music. On paper, the latest studio offering from the Canadian singer first took shape shortly after the global pandemic began to emerge. But in reality, LaBrie formed a bond with his fellow collaborator, bassist Paul Logue (Eden’s Curse), nearly a decade earlier.

The two first met in 2011, when James would lend his voice to a feature for Logue’s band, UK melodic metal outfit Eden’s Curse, on the song "No Holy Man." As years went by the two remained in touch, occasionally kicking the tires on the idea of working together on another project. But when Dream Theater performed in Glasgow during the late winter of 2020, LaBrie and Logue would run into each other at the airport – once again asking the question. But this time, armed with the knowledge that a drastic change in the world was all but imminent, LaBrie made the decision to set things in motion. More...

Theigns And Thralls Shares Debut Album Title Track

Releasing their self-titled debut album on April 8th via Rockshots Records, Theigns & Thralls are sharing their new lyric video for the full-length's second single and title track.

Band founder Kevin Ridley adds about the song:

"I decided early on to have an eponymous album, so the album had the same name as the band, but I also thought to go one stage further and add a song with the same name. As it is the opening song, I wanted it to up-tempo and be anthemic as it also conveys some of the band's underlying philosophy, in terms of its socio-political stance. Again, Dagda’s pipes helped to lift the song and I really enjoyed adding a bit of old-school harmony guitar here."

Theigns & Thralls is the brainchild of Skyclad vocalist and songwriter Kevin Ridley. Originally, it was intended to be an "occasional band" to perform songs from Ridley's back catalogue of songs from Skyclad and his solo album while working around Skyclad’s touring plans. However, when the 2020 global pandemic struck, his plans changed. Being stuck in lockdown, the project became a collaborative recording project building on a few demo ideas. At first, musician friends were contacted to add a bit of violin here and a whistle there. But then things gathered momentum and friends of friends were also asked and players across Europe joined to contribute. The response was, to say the least, overwhelmingly positive and, in the end, twenty-five musicians from bands such as Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Cruachan, Waylander, Celtibeerian, and Metal De Facto as well as solo musicians (new and old acquaintances of Ridley) contributed everything from drums, bass, guitar, violin, whistles, bagpipes to hurdy-gurdy and vocals.

"I think that because a lot of the album was written and recorded in a fairly short space of time, there is a certain feel and continuity to it. There is a blend of Celtic Speed-Punk, Folk-Metal and Classic Rock influences. Added to that, in terms of lyrical content, there is a strong appreciation of history, literature and humanism that comes together." adds Ridley. More...

Nightwraith Releases "Genesthai" Video

Denver, Colorado-based melodic death metal unit Nightwraith has unveiled their latest video for "Genesthai." The track comes off the band’s upcoming full-length, "Offering," set for release on March 25 through Reaping Scythe Records.

A sonic experience that is both aggressive and textural, the songwriting on "Offering" is deliberate, concise, and thoughtful, while remaining heavy enough to please the death metal audience for which it was intended. Pulling inspiration from a wide array of bands and genres, Nightwraith has been refined into something truly unique. "It's like we took all the heavy parts from bands like Carcass and Enslaved and combined it with the warmth of classic bands like Thin Lizzy and Blue Oyster Cult," explains founding member Benjamin Pitts. "It has been really fun inserting rock guitar and organ tones into a genre that typically avoids these types of sounds."

Adds Pitts of latest single, "Genesthai,"; "During the process of writing this song, I knew we were making something special. The chorus is reminiscent of some early 2000s material from bands we grew up listening to, like Poison The Well and Cave In. It has an emotional element to it that I don’t often hear from bands that identify as death metal. There’s some fun guitar work in this track, especially in the bridge section where there are two different melodies that sit on top of each other perfectly. The lead section, written by [guitarist] Igor [Panasewicz], holds influences akin to the styles of guitar legends like Eddie Van Halen and Glenn Tipton. There are also acoustic guitars that serve as rhythm accompaniment during the lead section, which is all very ‘on brand’ for our style of blackened dad rock!

"The production of the video is much more artistic and serious than our previous video release, ‘Hedonic Adaptation,’" he continues. "I think this showcases our range and I love how it primarily focuses on us playing our instruments, rather than us just ‘rocking out.’ It kind of ties together with the song’s lyrical theme, which is basically death of the ego. The line, ‘the ego dies,’ is important to the song because it means that we are able to see beyond ourselves and realize the bigger picture: that everything is connected and life is fleeting, yet beautiful. I love how the visual concept of the video revolves around water, this is also part of the lyrical theme and represents how we are constantly moving in parallel with our surroundings and becoming part of something greater than our individual selves." Black Void To Release Debut Album In May

Hard rock band White Void’s debut album "Anti" was one of last year’s most colourful and surprising releases, hailed by a collective metal press as an absolute whirlwind of occult rock and melodic new wave. But vocalist and band frontman Lars Are Nedland – also a long-time member of Borknagar and Solefald – clearly needed a contrast to all the colour and flamboyance, and thus Black Void forced itself into being. Not a band for waiting, the debut album "Antithesis" was recorded almost immediately and is set to be released through Nuclear Blast on May 27th - as a grimy contrast to White Void’s colourful and melodic outlet.

"Antithesis," then, is nihilistic aggression and desperation. Furious and unrepentant in attitude, it builds on the philosophical works of Friedrich Nietzsche while leaning on punk rock and black metal. Nihilistic, filthy, violent and raw.

Today, Black Void premiere their frantic first single and music video, "Reject Everything," which can be seen below. Lars Are Nedland comments:
"You can only take so much colour and harmony in your life. This one’s for the gloom. For the fury. For the filthiness of existence. Nihilism tells us there are no grounds for morality or knowledge in life. So, what does that leave us? Nothing! Nihil! The only sensible reaction to that is to Reject Everything." More...

Udo Dirkschneider Shares First German Single

He is THE constant among the German metal scene - Udo Dirkschneider. Originally becoming world-famous as a founding member of Accept, he continues to steadily expand upon his international successes with his U.D.O. and Dirkschneider outfits. Remaining true to himself over the years in a way few musicians could, Dirkschneider consistently bucks music industry trends in favor of following his heart. Yet his most personal and extraordinary album to date will be released on April 22nd, 2022: "My Way".

For the first time, Udo Dirkschneider now sings in his native language and shines on the Wolfsheim cover of the hit "Kein Zurück", which is being released today as a digital single and as a limited 7-inch vinyl (700 copies, incl. "We Will Rock You") and along with a music video clip.

"When I heard the song on the radio for the first time, I got excited straight away," remembers Udo Dirkschneider and explains: "I immediately felt understood by the words. It almost seemed to me as if the text was telling about my career, about my highs and lows, about all the good and bad experiences that you have. For those who choose the life as a musician, there is simply “no way back”. It's the first time I've been singing in my native language on a song - it was a real struggle for me at first, but at the same time it was a great experience." More...

This single edit focuses on the essence of this magnificent composition and gives you an insight into our creative work in these eventful times.
