Napalm Records will release Marc Hudson's innovative first solo full-length, "Starbound Stories," on August 25, 2023. Unblessed Divine Debuts New Music Video

August 18th sees Poland / South Africa-based death metal act, Unblessed Divine - the band featuring former members of legendary metal bands Malevolent Creation, Sinister and Decapitated - release their much awaited debut album, "Portal To Darkness," via Massacre Records. You can check it out below. The album pre-sale is available here.

Following a previously-released, first album single, the blistering album opening track "Book Of Lies," Unblessed Divine have just shared a new music video for the brutal banger, "I Feed." A straight in your face song with influences dating back to 90's best death metal bands, with Unblessed Divine's soft, but disturbing touch of electronics.

The band comments: "This track is about letting go of all worldly beliefs and go into a primal world view of being honest with one's self, instead of going through life indoctrinated by the bastard Christ's teachings. Children are fed this their whole lives and find it hard to even question their religion. 'I Feed' is a yearning to mindfully feed on all things from darkness. All things that are questions, are now answered and letting go of god and having his death as a victory." More...

Dark Tranquillity Splits With Guitarist

Swedish melodic death metal legends Dark Tranquillity has announced that guitarist Christopher Amott has decided to leave the group. A message from the band reads as follows:

"We are sad to announce that Chris Amott is leaving the band to pursue his own musical path. It has been an honor and a pleasure to play with him and we are parting amicably.
To fill in for him in the near future we will have the awesome shredder Joey Concepcion joining us for the rest of the summer.

"Our mission stays the same - to explore this melancholy that neighbours to rage. A path forged by all members of Dark Tranquillity - past and present. There may be some new faces on stage but in our extended family, much is the same. Niklas Sundin is still setting our visual tonality and Martin Henriksson is still our manager.

"Our next task will be to record our 13th album this fall. We are super excited about the material and can’t wait to bring it to you."

Tegmentum Shares New Lyric Video

Tegmentum is a cosmic progressive metal project from guitarist/producer Michael Ball being joined by vocalist Chelsea Murphy (Dawn Of Ouroboros, Cailleach Calling), bassist Kenji Tsunami (Ontogeny, Narcotic Wasteland) and drummer Andrew Baird (Fallujah) on drums. Tegmentum formed with the intent of crossing over progressive metal styles with more extreme elements typically found in technical death metal bands.

Today Tegmentum presents the release of their second single and video, “I Remain,” which can be viewed below.

"Our second single, ‘I Remain,’ delves deep into dark territory that aggressively crosses over Death Metal with THALL, expanding upon the bipolar musical nature of our upcoming album ‘Evolvement.’

"‘I Remain’ gives voice to some of the more destructive and limiting beliefs I struggle to quiet from day to day,” further explains guitarist Michael Ball. “Every way in which my depression berates, shames, gaslights, and burdens my heart with emotional weight, I use those intrusive thoughts to create the voice of this malevolent entity that exists in the story I’m telling with ‘Evolvement.’ In that way, these intrusive thoughts can live somewhere outside of myself where I can inspect them and process them in a safe, controlled way. My hope is that the lyrical content can validate anyone else who may struggle with similar emotional challenges." More...

Domkraft Unveils "Whispers" Music Video

Take a sizzling road-trip with Swedish psychedelic doom masters Domkraft and their new video single "Whispers" taken from their highly-anticipated fourth album "Sonic Moons," which is chalked-up for release on September 8th. You can check it out below.

Domkraft comments "The new single 'Whispers' is not quite as subtle as the title suggests, but it's not all upper case riff-o-rama during those nine minutes either", vocalist and bass player Martin Wegeland elaborates. "We wanted a touch of weightlessness while keeping the pounding grooves to create a creeping sense of forward motion. To me, the mid-section solo is the centerpiece of the track and really showcases the wide range of Martin's influences as a guitarist. The harmonies, together with the different energies and densities of the song, make it fairly representative of what the album is about: confined energy and release." More...

Triskelyon To Release New Album In September

Canada’s new power thrash metal gods Triskelyon returns to deliver the stainless steel goods again on their highly anticipated second album "Artificial Insanity" (mixed and mastered by Michael Small (Winterhearth, Triskelyon, Artach)). Founded in 2021 by guitarist Geoff Waye, of the popular true metal band Category VI, Triskelyon released one self-titled EP and was promptly signed to Moribund Records for their radio chart-topping debut album "Downfall" (2022).

On Triskelyon’s second outing, band leader Geoff Waye has once more recruited the crème de le crème of the Canadian metal scene. Enlisting the vocal talents of guests Amanda Jackman (Category VI), Armin Kamal (Infrared), Cara McCutchen (Mortillery, Naitaka), Dale Drew (Sea Dogs), Des Mason, Ellim, Pete Healey, Raúl Álvarez (Dark Order-Aus.) and Tim Tymo (Tymo) culminate in a varied album, which delivers both pure thrash metal classics, hints of blackened melodic thrash, and enough power metal to bring one back to the 1980s.

Drum Duties are shared between Raul Marques (Burning Torment) and Alexander Raykov (Antreib), while Dwayne Pike, Keith Jackman (Category VI), and Darrin Pope are conscripted on bass.

With "Artificial Insanity," Triskelyon returns with a varied yet blistering thrash/power metal classic, bringing back the 1980’s glory days, while maintaining a fresh and modern sound. Arizona Doom Heathens Mosara Release Single Amena

Phoenix-hailing doom metal band Mosara is embracing the sludge on their new single, “Amena," Which is now available via all streaming platforms.

The heavy new track serves as a follow-up to the four-piece’s most recent album, Only The Dead Know Our Secrets, released to critical acclaim last summer. Now, the group has shifted their focus to their upcoming studio album, which will be their third full-length. “Amena” is just a taste of the specific brand of “atavistic doom” that Mosara has become known for. It is equal parts primal and nuanced, something that separates Mosara apart from their contemporaries. The trudging “Amena” feels imbued with an intensity that lies just under the surface of the powerful wall of sound that the band has created.

Give it a listen at your own risk, your ears may wilt... More...

Brujeria Drummer Diagnosed With Kidney Failure

British metal drumming legend Nick Barker, known as the drummer of Brujeria and Shining and formerly of Dimmu Borgir, Cradle Of Filth and Lock Up, has been diagnosed with kidney failure. A crowdfunder has been launched to help the musician, which can be found here. Brandi Campanile, who is handling the GoFundMe campaign, revealed his condition thusly:

"As many noticed, back in 2022, Nick was hospitalized several times… a couple of these times while on tour. During these visits, it was discovered that he was losing kidney function. With determination, he tried to continue caring for himself while maintaining the tours and his musical career. His life has been dedicated to it along with his daughters. Both of which are his life blood.

"Unfortunately, it has all taken its toll and the kidneys are in full failure. With all things, he has been going through this the best he can, on his own. After giving so much of himself to his music, to us, his friends and fans. He now needs us as he cannot currently work due to the dialysis schedule and focusing on his health."

Barker is perhaps Britain's most in demand metal drummer, having not only recorded albums with Brujeria, Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Lock Up and Monolith, as well as the new, eponymous album from Shining which will be released in September, but has also performed as a live drummer for such bands as Exodus, Testament, Anaal Nathrakh, Possessed, Nuclear Assault and Venom Inc. among many others.
