In This Moment Reveals New Album Details

Today, Grammy Award-nominated act, In This Moment, releases their brand new single, "The Purge," from their forthcoming new studio album Godmode out October 27 via BMG. The song is accompanied by the official music video directed by Jensen Noen (Ice Nine Kills, Falling In Reverse, Hollywood Undead.) You can check it out below.

“We are thrilled to unveil 'The Purge' to everyone,” says vocalist Maria Brink. “I am so grateful for how everything flowed to bring this song to life, both sonically and visually. Kane Churko and Jensen Noen helped to create this musical & cinematic experience with us and we could not have done it without them. The underlying message of the song is to not fall too deeply into the rabbit hole, everything is about finding balance. I had a lot of emotions building within me when I approached the song for the first time and after years of holding it all in I finally got to let it out! Enjoy.”

"This song came from our time in lockdown. We all had our own personal experiences during the pandemic, and we all saw the social unrest unfolding daily tearing us apart, it was such a crazy time," says guitarist Chris Howorth. "Our band, like everything else, was stopped in its tracks. During the lockdown I was sending Maria musical ideas I was working on, and this one really resonated with her. She even said, 'This is gonna be our first single’. Fast forward a couple years and all the pent-up frustration and angst came pouring out in Maria’s lyrics and performance, creating this crazy visceral song."

The group have also shared details for Godmode, marking their eighth studio album to date. Recorded at Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 10-track opus was produced by Kane Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch) and Tyler Bates (John Wick, Jerry Cantrell, Bush).

"We absolutely cannot wait for everyone to hear what we’ve created," adds Howorth. More...

Arch Blade Posts New Single Online

With the release of their debut album "Kill The Witch" via Rockshots Records nearing on July 28th, LA-based heavy metallers Arch Blade are sharing their third single "Under The Mask" to follow previous singles "Nightbreed" and "Factory of Sin."

"Ultimate horror legend comes to life, and you can't hide. It's a perfect song to close the album because it's got everything in it, almost like a musical and lyrical summary of the record. Also, a very fast-paced heavy metal that turns into thrash metal halfway through and then goes back. The last catchphrase was captured at the studio after Al finished one of his takes, and that phrase says it all about this record!" adds the band. More...

Deicide Announces New Album Title

American death metal legends Deicide has announced that they have signed a short term deal with new record label Reigning Phoenix Music. The band are currently finishing work on the new album, their first with guitarist Taylor Nordberg (Inhuman Condition/ex Massacre.)

"With great pleasure and after several years of debate and consideration, I wish to announce the signing of a historic one album deal with the newly formed RPM for the development and marketing of the newest Deicide album, Banished By Sin. We look forward to working with all the talented hand-picked individuals that create RPM music and adding our latest accompaniment to the Deicide catalogue," said Glen Benton.

RPM's Gerardo Martinez comments: “We would like to welcome The Satan Spawns’ Deicide to RPM, and we cannot wait to release the very fitting new 13th chapter of their very successful and historied career! Many of us grew up in the original early death metal years and Deicide was in many people’s soundtracks. As for me, I ended up in the principal’s office in High School, for wearing the original Legion shirt as the back print was dangerous and controversial. Let’s bring some of that back!”

Harm's Way Reveals New Album Details

For nearly two decades, Harm‘s Way has evolved from whispered underground favourites to favourite sons with an arsenal of songs that helped shape heavy music‘s trajectory – creating a roadmap for legions interested in "reinventing" themselves. Harm‘s Way has never stayed complacent and constantly morphed shape– absorbing and reapplying influences in new and creative ways to create some of the most well-executed songs in hardcore punk and metal. And yet, considering the changeling that they and their previous efforts are, "Common Suffering" is easily the most musically diverse undertaking in their catalogue. The album beams with incredibly memorable riffs, breakdowns, and impeccable songwriting with subtle melody and point/counter-point which kicks off loud and clear on album opener "Silent Wolf;" released today.

"’Silent Wolf‘ was birthed out of observing a sense of persistent distrust in governing bodies and systems of power in our current cultural climate," tells vocalist James Pligge. "It speaks on the faith, or lack of faith, many have in these systems and an overall feeling of inertia and paranoia with status quo operations... leading many to the question: 'what is really informing our reality?'"

Despite Harm's Way's reputation for unrelenting brutality, "Common Suffering" surprises at several turns with quieter moments of well thought out songwriting that emphasize light and shade. It's their understanding of how to effectively orchestrate these dynamics that makes an already ironclad record feel infinitely more merciless. This is Harm‘s Way at the top of their game – the ambitious sound of a band traversing new ideas. “We really tried not to settle on parts,” recalls guitarist Nick Gauthier. "Sometimes a direction that we could have taken in a song felt too obvious… We would just troubleshoot that until we felt creatively satisfied with the direction we were taking." More...

Skálmöld Unveils "Verðandi" Lyric Video

Viking metal icons Skálmöld have revealed their epically catchy second single, "Verðandi," together with an official music video. With their first record in five years, the Icelandic six-piece will unveil their highly anticipated sixth studio album, "Ýdalir," on August 18, 2023 via Napalm Records.

Dominated by a chant-like rhythm, "Verðandi" represents an unforgettable track, with catchy guitar and oboe-driven details. While the first half of the track is driven by the heaviest of folk and death metal elements, strong vibrations of growls subside with the sound of the ocean and fragile organ melodies.

Fans can look forward to the band’s brand new material and energetic live shows this summer - including their return to huge European metal festivals like Wacken and Summer Breeze!

Björgvin Sigurðsson on "Verðandi":
"The second song we present to you from our upcoming album is ‘Verðandi’. Parts of the story of Ullur presented on the album are told through the eyes of the Norns - Urður, Verðandi and Skuld. Past, present and future. The Norns live at the foot of Yggdrasill where they spin the threads of fate of all men. The three Norns all get their own song on the album and here we enter the realm of the present with Verðandi.

"In two ways this song has a really classic feel to it. Firstly it is heavily inspired by the more classic styles of Metal and has a very old-school vibe. Secondly it can be seen as a classic Skálmöld song, driven forward by a really catchy and folk inspired melody, yet still heavy and epic." More...

Fortid To Release New Album In October

Icelandic metal trio Fortíð unleash the video single "Uppskera" ("Harvest") as a first taste from the forthcoming new full-length "Narkissos." The album is set to be released on October 13th.

The band comment on "Uppskera": "This song opens up with the final verses in Gestaþáttur* from Hávamál," mastermind Einar Thorberg Guðmundsson explains. "The poem translates something like this: 'Cattle die, kindred die / You yourself die / But reputation never dies / Of one who has earned it. / Cattle die, kindred die / You yourself die / But I know one thing that never dies / And that's a dead person's deeds'. The song continues by journeying into the mind of a man with a ruined reputation from his past deeds. And as the title 'Uppskera' ('Harvest') suggests, this man is reaping as he sowed, but he blames all his misfortunes on others. His name will not be honoured after he is gone from this world."

*"Gestaþáttr", the 'Guest's Part' is the first section of the Old Norse Poem "Hávamál" ('Words of the High One'). Its stanzas provide mainly behavioral advise for guests and hosts but also dispense general wisdom. The 'High One' is generally assumed to refer to the god Óðinn ('Odin') and the poem is viewed as offering a glimpse into the moral values of pre-Christian Nordic society. More...
