Gloom Signs With eOne Music

DC metal band Gloom just signed a worldwide deal with Entertainment One Music / Lifeblood Inc. and is releasing an all new track today titled “Cede" - listen in below. Gloom will release the "Solaris" full-length album on June 2nd, 2017.

“We couldn't be happier to be a part of the Lifeblood and eOne family," says the band. "We've been hunkered down working so hard that I don't think the reality has set in for all of us. We're just really grateful to have such high a quality team backing us.

"'Solaris' is our first full length and while we were writing the album we really wanted to bring all our individual influences to the table and create something dynamic. We really want to carve out our own niche in metal and 'Solaris' is a big step in that direction. For us, 'Cede' is a good musical representation of some of the different styles you'll hear on the album. Lyrically, it's about breaking the cycle of a bad on-off relationship I had for years and finding a place where I could grow out of those feelings."

Furthermore, Gloom will open the Devastation on the Nation Festival tour throughout the U.S. and Canada from 5/19 - 6/11 alongside Cryptopsy, Decrepit Birth, Rivers of Nihil, The Zenith Passage, The Kennedy Veil, Visceral Disgorge, and Seeker. More...

Funeral Tears Releases "Beyond The Horizon" Video

Russian funeral doom act Funeral Tears is set to release 3rd full-length album "Beyond the Horizon" via Satanath Records (Rus) & Cimmerian Shade Recordings (USA). You can follow the latest on the band at Facebook.

Ahead of the April 13th release date, today we're officially premiering a lyric video for the title track, which can be found below and is highly recommended to fans of Ea, Worship, Evoken, Mournful Congregation & Frowning.

This title track exhibits despondent melodies, slow yet heavy riffs, and a wide range of vocal craftsmanship across a 9 minute duration. Thematically, the track is about the limitation of ours in terms of finding the truth; we can't get beyond the horizon and and can't find the truth from within. The only thing left for us is to live, and we will only be free when we will die.

Founded in Tomsk, Russia during December of 2007, Funeral Tears is the solo project of Nikolay Seredov and darkly conveys the inner state of Nikolay at different periods of life, the struggle for spiritual balance while at war with himself for only purpose - to find his own eternal peace.

"Beyond The Horizon," clocking in at near an hour across six tracks, creates an aura of being buried into the grave of intense depression. Prepare to be crushed amongst the gloomy passages of unadulterated funeral doom. Pre-orders are online here and the track listing is as follows:

01. Close My Eyes
02. Breathe
03. Dehiscing Emptiness
04. I Suffocate
05. Beyond The Horizon
06. Eternal Tranquility More...

Ex-Nile Vocalist Announces Narcotic Wasteland

Narcotice Wasteland, the now full-time project of former Nile frontman Dallas Toler-Wade, is set to release new music soon. To satisfy fans in the meantime, the band has re-issued pervious 2014 self-titled debut album, "Narcotic Wasteland," out today via Megaforce Records/MRI.

Dallas states: "I left Nile for many other reasons that will remain undisclosed, not just for the reasons they detailed in their statement, which were 'to focus on my own plans and recordings.' That quote didn't come from me.

"I was already putting a lot of my time and energy into Narcotic Wasteland when Nile was not busy writing or touring. My intention was to do shows and albums with Narcotic Wasteland on the flipside, because I like to stay busy. I will continue to write and perform music on whatever level I can for as long as I can. From now on, Narcotice Wasteland will be my main musical focus."

The band's underlying concept is reflective of its namesake and the city where Dallas, Edwin, and Chris grew up. Fayetteville, North Carolina, a military town, has a PTSD rate of up to 75% in males and is the highest rated city in the U.S. for Shaken Baby Syndrome. The availability of street drugs is astounding and the ever growing epidemic of addiction to pharmaceutical drugs is an extremely toxic and unstable environment to grow up and live in. More...

Anathema Posts New Song "Springfield"

Following 2014 album "Distant Satellites" (reviewed here and with the title track appearing on the soundtrack to sci-fi / horror novella "Empty"), Anathema will see the release of eleventh studio album "The Optimist" this coming June 9th via Kscope.

Today the band shares new song "Springfield" below as pre-orders for the 11 track album come online. Anathema singer/guitar player Daniel Cavanagh comments:

“Here we present the song 'Springfield', it’s actually the song that closed our unforgettable Wembley gig with Opeth and it seemed to be a track that just fell into place without much effort. It seemed to do itself. The song forms part of a narrative that runs through The Optimist album, it’s a narrative that begins where A Fine Day To Exit left off. The album is a journey. The songs are ambiguous. There is no right or wrong way to take them. Make of them what you will.”

Anathema began recording "The Optimist" in the winter of 2016 at Attica Audio in Donegal, Ireland and then finished at Castle Of Doom studios in Glasgow with producer Tony Doogan. Mastering was handled at Abbey Road Studios and the track listing is as follows:

He is very experienced and has shared the stage with several known bands, most notably Circle II Circle, Jon Oliva's Pain and TSO for the last few years. It's not really necessary to talk about his skills, simply check it out on our next tour and you will see what we're talking about!

"After Kasperi left the band we have received many suggestions and applications from great guitar players from all over the planet. At the same time, we started getting hints from different and unrelated people in the business pointing straight into the same direction, telling us to check out this Brazilian/American guy. Once in Germany he convinced everybody from the get go and it was very clear that this guy had all the requirements to become the new band member.
We are REALLY looking forward to kick ass even more so than ever before!" More...

Excommunion Announces New EP "Thronosis"

As the world crumbles beneath our feet, a slumbering beast awakens to feast on the weak. That beast is Excommunion. The band will break a years-long silence with the upcoming release of "Thronosis" via Dark Descent Records on May 12th.

Fifteen years after the sonic blitzkrieg that was the debut album "Superion," Colorado born Excommunion triumphantly returns with the new EP "Thronosis." Christbutcher and Kyle Spanswick once again form the backbone for this relentless return.

The band comments: "In death we are born again, to rise once more with new form, beneath the Shadow of the Logos. Old doctrines are cast into the abyss and old flesh flensed and given to the flames of pyres. Let only the old name remain as our epithet. Let all else burn and fall from this new and glorious form within the paradoxical light of a greater heresy. In death, Excommunion arises once more..."

The release was recorded, mixed and mastered at Flatline Audio by Dave Otero and Excommunion. The cover art (shown below) was created by Lauri Laaksonen (Desolate Shrine).

The track listing is as follows:

1. Twilight of Eschaton
2. Nemesis
3. World Crucifier
4. Blessed is the Epoch of Darkness and Strife More...

42 Decibel Is About To Get "Overloaded"

With the impressive debut album "Hard Rock 'n' Roll" (2013), the follow up "Rolling In Town" (2015), and fresh from the first European tour in 2016, 42 Decibel is making a comeback with the latest album, "Overloaded," which will be released by Steamhammer/SPV on June 23rd. A video clip for the new single "Dangerous Mess" can be seen below.

42 Decibel has recorded ten new rock tracks inspired by the idea of pushing a piece of equipment to its limits. The band recorded and mixed with this in mind, so most of the equipment used in the recording was pushed to its limits; VU meters hitting the red zone, red lights flashing resulting in various types of distortion. Overloaded still carries the Blues Rock torch from the previous albums, but this time 42 Decibel cranked it up a notch to give a more explosive experience but with that same Hard Rock n Roll these boys are known for.

With "Overloaded," 42 Decibel resolutely follow the course set out on in early 2010 with the first 7-track demo and went straight on to put into serial production with the debut "Hard Rock 'n' Roll." The current line-up with Junior Figueroa, Nicko Cambiasso, Billy Bob and Matt Fraga, is bursting with energy and thirst for action, and - with the exception of the final mastering of the album, for which the band members once more enlisted the services of Justin Weis - took on the entire spectrum of tasks involved in a dynamic studio production themselves.

The track listing for "Overloaded" is:

1. Whiskey Joint 3:07
2. Dangerous Mess 3:22
3. Brawler 3:42
4. Roadkiller 3:46
5. Hot Shot 3:03
6. Half Face Dead 2:39
7. Lost Case 4:37
8. Cause Damage 4:09
9. Double Itch Blues 6:55
10. Cannon Fodder 4:44 More...
