Today the alternative metal progenitors from Jesters of Destiny premiere new track "Fire in the Six Foot Hole" - listen in below. The track hails from the band's long, long, long-awaited comeback album, "The Sorrows That Refuse to Drown," set for international release on April 7th via Ektro Records.
It was 30 years ago that Jesters of Destiny’s "Fun at the Funeral" debut was released on the short-lived Metal Blade subsidiary Dimension Records. A year later came the all-covers record "In a Nostalgic Mood," after which the band was unceremoniously hacked from the Metal Blade stable and, unable to land another deal for third album, "No Laughing Matter," quietly disappeared, with all the main participants going on to other pursuits.
All these years later, Jesters Of Destiny is back with "The Sorrows That Refuse To Drown," an all-new hard rock / metal record featuring the following track listing:
1. Fire in the Six Foot Hole
2. The Flesh Parade
3. Ladies of Runyon Canyon

Thunderosa has been working hard playing shows to commemorate the band's 20-year-anniversary, including a recent stop at Texas Mist and a San Antonio spill over show. Guitarist/singer AJ Mac comments:
"Bands come to SXSW lose lots of money, have no where to park, so San Antonio understands the hardships of SXSW in Austin. They do their own group of shows as SXSW spillover concerts. The city takes good care of the bands-they take way better care than SXSW."
The group is primed to play 311 with The Heroine on Friday March 17th, Saint Patrick's Day and you know there will be a party at that show. The day after, Thundderosa plays in New Caney, Texas for the Texas Hoedown car show. Then that night the group will join metal/crossover legend Billy Milano at the Key Bar. More...

Canada’s Annihilator is the lifework of guitarist Jeff Waters. Founded in 1984, the band took the metal scene by storm with debut 1989 release “Alice In Hell,” upped the ante with 1990’s “Never, Neverland” and has continued a non-stop career of releasing records and touring with many of the biggest bands in the metal genre (mostly all outside North America); cementing Annihilator as the biggest-selling metal act in Canada’s history.
After 18 months of touring for the band’s latest album “Suicide Society” (nominated for a 2017 Juno Award in the Metal / Hard Rock Album of The Year category), the band is currently finishing up a 16th studio release and is getting ready to headline not only the mighty Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany (Aug 3), but also hit the road for a first Canadian tour since 1993.
The tour will kick off in Victoria, BC on June 13th and travel east wrapping up in Cornwall, ON July 1st during Canada day weekend festivities. Support on this tour comes from Australia's Mason and from Montreal, QC thrashers Mutank.
Jeff Waters comments: “I have always enjoyed flying the flag for one of the nicest countries and people in the world, despite having very little support from the industry here to play and releasing CDs in Canada. It sure is an honor to be nominated for a Juno, after all these years, and to have the opportunity to tour this great and metal land! It will be some of our best-ever shows this summer. We look forward to meeting the metal fans and to show them what the rest of the world has seen us do every year for decades. It’s about time, eh?!” More...

On April 7th, Swedish heavy metal band Trial will release new album, "Motherless," worldwide via Metal Blade Records.
For a preview of the record, a new lyric video (by cover artist Costin Chioreanu) for the title track "Motherless" can be viewed below.
Trial comments: "'Motherless' is the opener and title track of the upcoming release. It's a fiery and captivating tune that serves the purpose of entangling the listener into the rest of the album. The video was created by the fantastic artist Costin Chioreanu, who uses the artwork and layout he created for the album as a vessel to give the song an extra dimension. It perfectly corresponds to our vision of what 'Motherless' is."
Theatrical horror metal crew Carach Angren just announced new album "Dance and Laugh Amongst the Rotten," which serves as the follow-up to "This is No Fairy Tale" (reviewed here) will be released by Season of Mist worldwide on June 16th.
"Dance and Laugh Amongst the Rotten" revolves around the haunting of a young girl with an unhealthy fixation on a Ouija board. Carach Angren pushes the group's unashamedly theatrical style of metal to intense new height that blend eerie and extreme black metal with beautifully composed string sections and regal orchestral arrangements. For a first taste, check out the macabre and romantic "Song for the Dead" below.
Regarding the track, Carach Angren comments, "After months of hard work we proudly reopen the doors to our haunted mansion to reveal the first deadly taste of our upcoming concept album. A unique horror story as you all expect and deserve, we consider this as one of the most terrifying tracks that we have created so far." More...
Black funeral doom/neofolk project Isendoral will unleash a debut full-length album later this month. Titled "Shores Of Mourning," the follow-up to the band's 2014 demo recording, "Imbolc MMXIV," was record at Soundhouse Studios in Seattle, Washington, and is conjured from both old and new compositions.
Produced in 2016 as a testament to grief and an exploration of purgatory, in a time where the group itself was going through arduous lineup changes, "Shores Of Mourning" is a monument to Isendoral's camaraderie with members past and present, and an exploration of the changing of the tides towards and away from those we hold dear. It is a study in loss, and a cry for a long-absent sunrise over a sorrowful and chaotic plane.
"Shores Of Mourning" is set for release March 25th, 2017 digitally via the band's official Bandcamp page, on limited cassette through Eternal Warfare Records and CD via Pest Productions at a later date. More...
Metal guitarist Andy James returns with a dynamic new all-instrumental solo album titled "Exodus," which is set for a May 5th release via Urban Yeti Records. The label comments:
"In his solo recordings, James exhibits a predominant influence of Andy Timmons and Paul Gilbert, as well as other comparable guitar legends. Exodus is not your A-typical guitar shred record, it’s a venerable roller-coast of emotions, infectious melodies and soul that is captivating and memorable."
The first look into this album is via the new full-length track “Never Back Down," which you can stream now in its entirety below. More...
When the cult thrashers from Tankard are torn out of their winter’s sleep, it has to be for a valid reason: like celebrating 35 years of Tankard!
And, of course, a suitable soundtrack cannot be missed. That's why Gerre and co. went on a long journey to Troisdorf, together with producer Martin Buchwalter (Destruction, Suidakra), to record their 17th studio album entitled "One Foot In The Grave" at Gernhard Studio.
The album is scheduled to be released on June 2nd, 2017 via Nuclear Blast. Today, the band has published a studio trailer in which you can have a look behind the scenes of the record's production.
Vocalist Gerre comments: "Yes, we are old, but even as the album title suggests - this is not the end! It was really exciting to finally work together with Martin Buchwalter, whom we've already known for like 100 years! He demanded everything from us and we are very confident that this album is going to be amazing! As usual with Tankard, we had the huge pressure of time for song writing and our nerves were on edge. But the effort was all worth it! We really hope you will like the album just as much as we do! Cheers to the next 35 years!" More...

Death worshipping band Gruesome (Exhumed, etc.) premieres its cover version of "Choke On It", taken from the upcoming new EP "Fragments Of Psyche", which will be out March 31st on Relapse Records. Comments drummer Gus Rios:
"This is a true homage from apprentice to master for me! The idea was to reinterpret this song as if Sean Reinert had recorded it, though I’ve always been very vocal about my adoration of Bill Andrew‘s more simple but solid style, so obviously NO disrespect there! This is simply a fun reworking of what I consider to be one of the best tunes on Leprosy, and one that I thought would particularly lend itself well to some more complex grooves. Doing my best Bill/Reinert impersonation!"

Capture The Crown appears to have called it quits. The band has posted the below image via its social media accounts. Capture The Crown has completed the recordings of a new album last year which never saw a release.
