After much teasing and foreshadowing, Melbourne death metal crew Hadal Maw has released second offering “Olm” via EVP Recordings, acting as the first recording featuring with new vocalist Sam Dillon.
“We wrote the bulk of the music throughout 2015 when we never had a solid line up,” says drummer Rob Brens. “So having the band in this somewhat fractured state gave us the opportunity to write with no preconceptions of what the band really was. We didn’t think about our previous work, or writing death metal or whatever. We just wrote music and we came out with what feels like a really fresh sound for us." More...
French doom / sludge crew Crackhouse has announced a worldwide record deal with Italian label Argonauta Records. The label comments:
"Formed in Tours (France) by the hands of Jean-Baptiste Carton, Simon Morlec and Guillaume Vailant, Crackhouse authors a stunning sludge doom highly influenced by a progressive attitude with massive stoner sonorities.
"The Argonauta Records edition of the band's first self-titled EP will be released April 7th, 2017. Made of two long songs for a total running time of twenty minutes, this EP is an incredible work where influences from Dopethrone, Weedeater, and Bongripper collide at best."

Following the release of last year’s "Skyward" album, Forming the Void is newly signed to Italian label Argonauta Records and this month will see the release of third album "Relic" on March 17th.
"We really found our stride with 'Relic,'” explains vocalist James Marshall. “I think with this album it was important to showcase as much of our diversity of influences as we could while still staying under a fuzzy, progressive, atmospheric sound."
Ahead of the album's official release, you can watch the brand new video for latest song "Unto The Smoke" in the player below.
“The video was made by a Swiss artist who goes by ‘Gryphus’ who compiled it using clips from John Carpenter’s The Fog," explains Marshall. "The song itself is one of the more psychedelic songs on the album. There is a lead guitar odyssey at the end where Shadi really draws from his Middle Eastern roots. It’s also the slowest song on the album. The themes of the lyrics are transcendence and mortality.” More...

Boston doom metal quartet Rozamov will see debut full-length album "This Mortal Road" released tomorrow as a joint effort through Battleground Records and Dullest Records.
As the record looms on its public unveiling, today a full stream comes online 24 hours early. Listen to the entire record at Decibel Magazine here until after the release date (the Bandcamp player below temporarily only has 1 song from the album).
Issues Rozamov of the record: "All of our releases have been a snapshot of where we were as people and as a band at the time. This Mortal Road was written during a time of change for us and during the miserable winter of 2014/15. It is intentionally doom laden, reflecting the time and circumstances of its creation. We're in a very different place as people and as a band, now, more than a year since it's recording and with a new drummer. We're very proud of what we created and are so happy for it to finally see the light of day!"
Rozamov will also begin a U.S. tour at a record release show in Allston, Massachusetts the day "This Mortal Road" is issued, from there carving a clockwise path around the country through all of March. Hush will join Rozamov on first three shows in Brooklyn, Baltimore, and Richmond, and the tour also includes a set at Austin Terror Fest. More...
Czech heavy/black metal heroes Root just unleashed a video for the song "Moment Of Fright," taken from last album "Kärgeräs - Return From Oblivion." The album was released in November on Agonia Records and can be heard in full right here.
Root is one of the original pre-second-wave black metal bands formed in 1987 by iconic vocalist Jiri "Big Boss" Valter. In contrast to Bathory and Venom, Root took the black metal genre in a different direction, featuring Big Boss' chartacteristic clean vocals, dark sound and an epic approach.
The band comments: "As always in our history as a band, we aim to deliver a unique album, something that will stand out and shine its own light in our discography. Expect dark metal at its best, along with some surprising elements. We've recorded one fully acoustic song and one entirely instrumental. Overall, the album will include ten new tracks that will differ from our previous records." More...
It has now been 10 years of Unleash The Archers! These heavy metal heroes are celebrating this honor with an exhilarating aural feast on upcoming album "Apex," due out on June 2nd, 2017 via Napalm Records.
The band states: "We are extremely excited to release another full on concept album; it's just so much fun to play out a story when you're up on stage. This one has a protagonist that we call The Immortal being forced to serve the antagonist, a.k.a. The Matriarch as she embarks down a very dark path to achieve immortality.
"We had a great time writing this record, and I think the cohesiveness of the story has really shone through in the music as well. It has a certain vibe throughout, from beginning to end, and we can't wait to hear what our fans have to say about the direction this album has taken. We don't like to write the same record over and over again and we are very happy with the progression of our sound on Apex. We think it will appeal to all of our fans old and new; it has the best parts of our past albums combined into one with just a little more spit and polish." More...

Drummer Derek Kimmel from U.S. group Defy Me just issued this announcement about parting ways with the band:
"Hey everyone this is Kimmel! Sorry it's been so quiet on the page for a while. After careful consideration and lots of heavy thought I regret to announce my departure from the band Defy Me. Its nothing between us at all that led me to this choice. I still love these guys as blood and forever will.
"Some things have to be, so I will say that I couldn't have been a part of something so amazing with such incredible guys. We've had so many amazing and completely unforgettable times and memories together, so these guys will forever be in my heart. I will be finishing out the next few shows then taking my final bow in the band.
"We will be reaching out for my replacement so if you're interested contact Derek Kerley for scheduling and requirements. I want to thank each and every one of you who have supported us over the past years. Every one of you mean everything to me and I love you all. Much love, Kimmel." More...
Still in support of the "Sensory Overload" EP, Northern California’s Apothesary is back with another round of tour dates and a new promo video clip. The video for "Elizabeth" is Apothesary’s first attempt at doing a proper promo clip and has an interesting concept behind it.
"We wanted to choose a song that was both powerful and reflective of our sound as a whole. The story of ‘Elizabeth’ is based around the Multiverse theory, or the concept of parallel universes,” explains guitarist Clayton Cagle. “The film follows our heroine (and stellar bassist) living multiple timelines beginning with her arrival and ending in her demise - with pieces of the overarching story being explained in each world.”
“Akin to Cloud Atlas and loosely influenced by the Hindu belief of reincarnation, it was important to us that we accurately portray the concept (without confusion) in less than four minutes,” adds bassist/vocalist Jared Eandi. “We couldn't be happier with the end result and thank Tsunami Films immensely for the incredible work!" Ottawa, ON's Trigon will releasing 11 track debut album "Fed Up," produced by the band with Anders Drerup, this coming March 24th.
First single "Talk To Me" was released back in February and now the band has another track for fans, especially those who love the "A Nightmare On Elm Street" movies. Check out the frightening "Nightmare" single tribute below.
Vocalist / bassist Emanuel Viau comments: "One night while we were having practice, Gus the guitarist came up with this crazy riff that actually sounded like a nightmare. If you were alive in the 80s, there was this one crazy movie that was terrifying everyone... that's right Nightmare on Elm Street. So Trigon dedicated this song to the legend Freddy Krueger and his debauchery on Elm Street. Listen carefully as we perform a short bio about Frederick Charles Krueger! Sweet dreams!" More...

Vancouver prog metal band OmnisighT recently unleashed latest effort "Power of One," and today the gropu is excited to share a new drum playthrough featuring Chris Warunki performing the title track.
Warunki comments on the newly released EP: "The 'Power Of One' is the sound of a band firing on all cylinders. Guitarists, bassists, drummers and vocalists will all have something in-store for them here with this EP. We are excited to get this out to the prog/rock/metal masses both musically and lyrically.
"Speaking of lyrically, the album will come with a PDF booklet exclusive to our Bandcamp supporters. We took a 'more is more' approach with this one and it will be a real challenge, but a welcome challenge; to take it to the stage. We want to keep the musicianship in the music, that has been our agenda since day one!" More...
Brooklyn's Life Of Agony has completed work on new album and Napalm Records debut "A Place Where There's No More Pain," which will be released April 28th, 2017. Today the first video offering for the album's title track "A Place Where There's No More Pain" has also been unleashed.
The video was directed by Leigh Brooks of Firebelly Films and was shot predominately in Hamburg, Germany with a few shots from the London show on LOA's recent European tour.
"We were looking to capture the raw energy of our live show with the new video for 'A Place Where There's No More Pain,' says bassist Alan Robert. "As a longtime LOA fan, director Leigh Brooks instantly knew exactly what we were going for. He's been a fan since the early nineties and we finally met at the Electric Ballroom gig in London last year. He shot that show and we immediately became friends. He's a super talented guy with great vision and a deep passion for this band. He and his crew got pretty banged up shooting this one (laughs). They got right in the pit with their equipment - the poor guys! Leigh was one of the very first people outside of the band to hear the new music and he was completely psyched to be involved."
