Jesper Strömblad Announces New Band

Cyhra, a new project featuring former Amaranthe singer Jake E. and ex-In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad, has signed to Spinefarm Records. The band formed a year ago and will enter the studio this spring, with a debut album expected to drop in the fall.

The core members, who cut their teeth in two incredibly influential metal bands, recruited other well-respected musicians to complete the lineup and the rhythm section: drummer Alex Landenburg, known from his work with Rhapsody and Annihilator, as well as bass player Peter Iwers of In Flames and Stoney Mountain. The addition of Landenburg and Iwers helped to fuel the Cyhra songwriting process and to solidify an overall sound.

"The excitement I feel about Cyhra is over the top," Jake E. said. "I have to pinch myself every day to make sure it's not just another dream. I am so proud of the music we have created and I can't wait to show it to the world!"

Strömblad stated, "For the first time for as long as I can remember, I feel I am a part of something special. This band has helped me regain my true passion for music. I can't wait to share this to the world!" More...

Megaton Leviathan Working On New Music

In the three years since Megaton Leviathan released 2014’s “Past 21” album, Andrew James Costa Reuscher and Mort Subite have been diligently creating new material to meet and exceed Megaton’s reputation of fusing disparate elements into new, borderline narcotic compositions.

To help facilitate this goal, several new members have been drafted in both studio and live capacities, including ex-Lord Dying drummer Jonathan Reid, vocalist and concert violinist Andrea Morgan, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Travis Hathaway, and bassist Trejen.

This new, diversely talented cast has already inspired unexpected creative reward in the studio, and will no doubt entrance live audiences worldwide as Megaton Leviathan takes to the road once again supporting a presently incubating goliath later this year. More...

Stray From The Path Finishes New Album

On a mission to bring honest, pissed off music to the world, Long Island New York’s Stray From The Path just completed recording a next full-length offering that follows the band’s 2015 release "Subliminal Criminals."

The band recorded once more with Will Putney, who also produced, mixed, and mastered the yet-to-be-titled studio release at Graphic Nature Audio out of Belleville New Jersey, with additional vocal production from Jesse Barnett of Stick To Your Guns.

Vocalist Drew York comments on the recording process: "Having our new drummer Craig Reynolds in the studio made for a different experience going into it, but Craig is an absolute maniac and he smashed it!! We also pushed ourselves harder than we ever have before working 12, sometimes 16 hours a day; there was a couple of times I thought I was losing my mind haha.

"Going back to Will Putney was an obvious choice for us because he is a genius and plays a huge part in the aesthetic of this band. We also had our good friend Jesse Barnett do some vocal production and it was great having him there, shooting ideas around, and getting involved with everything. More...

Until Rain Signs With Sensory Records

Greek progressive/alternative metal outfit Until Rain has signed with Sensory Records for the release of impending third full-length album, "Inure." Blessed Curse Releases "Nightbreed" Video

It’s 2017 and Nor Cal’s Blessed Curse is back raging through 5 news songs of scathing metal, exemplified by the first preview – a lyric video provided below from forthcoming EP,
"Beware of the Night."

“Nightbreed” picks up where things left off on the previous debut album as the trio hacks and slashes with some deadly thrash in this new lyric clip created by Rafael Ortega (from label mates Sicocis.

The "Beware of the Night" CD was once again produced by Juan Urteaga (Testament, Exodus, Sadus) at Trident Studios in Martinez, CA with cover art by Brian Lewis (DevilDriver, Zakk Wylde, Cultural Warfare) at Stone Design and will be released March 31st on M-Theory Audio. Pre-orders, including t-shirt bundles, available at this location.

“This video is truly a historic chapter in the Blessed Curse history book because it marks the first official video from the band,” explains drummer Derek Bean. “I can’t say enough about the pro quality of the Beware of the Night EP project and everything that has gone into it from the time in the studio to this lyric video and everything in between. After first view of the ‘Nightbreed’ video, my initial reaction was ‘this is absolutely killer.' I love the Evil Dead/Blair Witch camera views of something going through the woods. The vibe of the song was definitely captured to the T in this vid.” More...

Metalocalypstick Fest 2017 Announced

Based in Valemount, BC near Jasper National Park with the beautiful backdrop of the Canadian Rockies, there stands an outdoor festival that just doesn’t celebrate heavy metal, but embraces the power of women in metal.

Formed in 2016, Metalocalypstick Fest was created to present a unique experience within the Western Canadian metal community, a gathering of similar views, aspirations and musical taste similar to former mainstream music festival Lilith Fair.

Founded by Kaija Kinney of Vancouver’s Anarcheon after researching a lack of female based metal festivals to apply her band to, Kinney took matters into in her own and decided to produce the event.

Kinney comments: “This festival means the celebration of both sexes coming together and creating something amazing. People like to say women in metal aren’t a big deal anymore and that we are all the same. I feel that is untrue, this is still a male dominated world and woman are still looked as lesser. I want to showcase all these bad ass ladies and celebrate the differences of men and woman rather than pretend we are all equal. Truth is we are different why can't we celebrate that?” More...
