Metal fans who dig horror movies take note: this is seriously the most metal movie you are going to see this year. Although originally released in 2015, "The Devil's Candy" wasn't available in America until yesterday and is out now via all the various VOD platforms.
From the same director as the utterly demented (in a very good way) "The Loved Ones," this follow-up flick from Sean Byrne features a metalhead dad and daughter caught in a very bad situation when the family buys a house with a nefarious past.
Heavy metal is essentially its own character in the film, and you'll see all kinds of nods to bands from Sunn O))) to Isis and of course the more well known like Metallica and Ghost.

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the forthcoming live CD/DVD entitled “The Seraphic Live Works” from German progressive metal band Vanden Plas on May 12, 2017.
In the band's long career, Vanden Plas has only released one live album, "Spirit of Live," recorded in Paris at the legendary Elysée Montmartre, in 2000. With the upcoming release of "The Seraphic Live Works," the wait for another documentation of the band's immense talents as a live act is finally over!
Through many tours and countless concerts, Vanden Plas has proven again and again that it is among the world's leading progressive metal bands. The quintet's glowing reputation carries across the pond to the U.S. where Vanden Plas was invited to appear at the renowned ProgPower USA in Atlanta in 2011 (and will return in 2017). Regardless of a band's fame, an invitation to this prestigious event is an honor and the performance is certainly a high note in Vanden Plas' history. And it is for exactly that reason that Vanden Plas decided to capture that unique moment.
"The Seraphic Live Works" shows unmistakably how extraordinary this gig at Center Stage Theater was for everyone involved. A performance exploding with energy, euphoric audience, and the venue's own special flair. The recordings will captivate every viewer and there is no question that Vanden Plas made the right decision to preserve this performance for eternity.
"The Seraphic Live Works" captivates and enthralls for nine songs, beginning with straightforward opener "Postcard to God" through the atmospheric "Far Off Grace" to the brilliant closer, "Silently." In this extended live version of the song, Vanden Plas ignites a prog metal fireworks display that is unparalleled, leading the listener through more than 11 magnificent minutes to a spectacular conclusion.
Vanden Plas has fans all over the world, but for those who have not yet been able to experience the band, they wanted to give them the next best thing with "The Seraphic Live Works." The audio and video capture an authentic band that stands out in the prog metal genre.

Swedish vocalist Linnéa Vikström, best known as one of the vocalists in Therion (along side father Thomas Vikström) has signed a worldwide deal with Despotz Records.
Linnéa says, "I’m really excited to be working together with Despotz and with their help I’ll be sure to present some fantastic music to the world! Just the fact that Despotz is willing to release an album recorded completely live shows how willing they are to break new grounds and think outside of the box. Be ready to venture out deep into the universe as we launch this spacecraft of music!"
Linnéa will work with her solo project under the secret name of QFT. The debut album will be released in November of 2017, with the first, as yet untitled, single hitting the streets in May.

Dyonisian signed on with Sliptrick Records for the band's upcoming sophomore release.
In the Spring of 2010, Tregor Russo decided to give life to a new musical project with the intent to create music and lyrics from the deep feelings, pathos, dark emotions and melancholic atmospheres and immerse them in complex gloomy arrangements. And so Dyonisian was born, with Tregor as guitarist, composer, arranger and lyricist.
Dyonisian delivers symphonic doom and progressive death metal mixed with other subgenres, such as classical baroque music and traditional Arabian music. The band is currently working on the finishing touches of the second full length album. Stay tuned for more information. More...
Spanish '70s hard/heavy rock band The Wizards has inked a deal with Fighter Records for the release of the highly anticipated second album "Full Moon in Scorpio," which will see the light on May 16th internationally.
Formed in Bilbao (Basque Country) back in 2013, these five outcasts decided to form a band after several intense sessions of drug abuse and hard liquor drinking marathons at backyard parties where the records of Black Sabbath, Danzing, The Cult, Blue Oyster Cult, Pentagram, Deep Purple, Dio, Horisont, and Electric Wizard were played so loud, neighbors would call the police sooner than expected.
In January 2014, The Wizards recorded the first demo, "Plagues." With only four songs recorded and a bunch of covers, the band was able to win the 26th edition of the local pop/rock contest Villa de Bilbao. During 2015, the band released the self-titled debut album through its own label, Witch Records, in collaboration with French label Geea Music. More...

Dutch modern metal act Selfmachine celebrated the release of the new album "Societal Arcade" with the video clip for the new song "Giddy-Up!" Check it out in the player below. "Societal Arcade" is out now via Wormholedeath Records.
"Giddy-Up!" is the first music video taken from "Societal Arcade." The concept for the video was created by lead singer Steven Leijen and beautifully brought to life by David Hazeleger from TDD Studios. The song touches on the subject of the stress to reach goals and the fears of not succeeding while we completely forget to live and enjoy ourselves. Life is a party, especially if you come party with Selfmachine.
The band commented: “Shooting the video for ‘Giddy-Up!’ was an awesome experience. As always we have made and arranged everything ourselves. This means we have spent a lot of free weekends building the robot, creating its lights, spray painting the metal, teaching it how to play guitar and of course how to dance! We also had the help of our friend David Hazeleger for the filming, editing and after effects. But of course we didn’t use after effects for the robot… ;)”

Says frontwoman Mimi Telmo of the track: "‘What You Are‘ is about the fine line split between friendship and indifference. No matter how hard you try to salvage a relationship, sometimes you just have to walk away. I’ve always been a Deez Nuts fan, and when meeting JJ in person, I saw that he is not only a great frontman, but also a lovely person.
