He Is Legend has dropped a video for "Air Raid," which can be seen in the player below (or at Vevo here if it doesn't load for you).
"We've kept the cathartic experience of a He Is Legend show a strictly personal experience for our fans for some time now," said singer Schuylar Croom. "Never have we hit this hard before so we decided it was due time that we showcased our live show through a music video. This video finally captures what we believe to be out best assets - all of the darkness, sexuality, chaos, and grooviness of a Legend show is encompassed amidst the rhythm of the first track our new album called 'Air Raid.'"
He continued, "This song really highlights our passion and aggression that peppers the entirety of this new record and we couldnt be more proud. Justin Reich came out to capture this unique experience with us in a way that makes you feel like you're right there in the mix with us. We hope our fans love it and that it turns on some new folks. See ya on the dance floor!" More...
For this week's Pit Story, we're getting into the high octane energy of a pit during a killer live show with a too-small stage where the band and fans get unceremoniously smashed together.
Vocalist Pete Mercer from Medicine Hat, Alberta-based group Nuclear Oath tells the story like this:
I'm not really sure of the date but this was a local show and the first time we played at this pub, it was Olys ale house in Medicine Hat, i think it was our 2nd show, it was put on by a former band mate of mine, things originally didn’t end so well, so there was definitely some tension still in the atmosphere on both ends. We were ready to make an impression and show everybody that we were ready to destroy no matter what previous things had occurred.
So with that being said we was one of the opening acts and we were ready to fuck this place up and show everyone that we are here to drop bombs. The beers were flowing good and the energy was unstoppable. When we played TGTN, I called everybody to move in closer and get crazy with us, this was a small enough stage as is, so both guitars and bass were already playing on the floor, an i was doing my thing on the stage. Then the bomb dropped we all jumped on the floor, except for drummer obviously haha, sorry Brandon stay at your throne. Hair was flying everywhere, cables were getting tangled, but we still stayed on point.
It got so crazy that myself got jabbed with the base headstock, tangled with guitar player Zack (we always get tangled haha) and even the long hair caught on some tuning nobs, but again still keep the energy, kept getting in peoples faces and screaming and pushing them. With them also pushing back an grabbing the mic and screaming also, love that shit, beers spilt with tangled wires, oh an I even got knocked down and sang some of the chorus on the ground and helped back up just to get knocked around again, I love the energy this band gives off.
With that being said we had the most energy of the night and probably most beer spillage of the night, haha.
Nuclear Oath will release new album "Toxic Playground" this coming June 9th to follow debut EP "Ashes of the Unborn." Check out some teaser clips and info on upcoming live appearances at Facebook, and you can hear the "Razor Blade Regrets" single below. More...

German epic metal band Equilibrium released current studio album "Armageddon" last year on August 12th, 2016 through Nuclear Blast. Once more, the band entered the European charts on high positions (#5 Germany, #11 Switzerland, #20 Austria).
Equilibrium and support act Suidakra subsequently went on a tour journey to Asia, and even though most of the band's lyrics are in German, Equilbirum succeeded in enthusing hundreds of fans and to provide a remarkabe atmosphere in several cities of China (Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong), Taiwan (Taipei) and Japan (Tokyo and Osaka).
Check out a tour diary below showcasing some of the best moments from this trek. René (guitars) comments: "Our first tour in Asia was one of the most impressing experiences we've ever had with Equilibrium. This video is a small collection of footage we've made with our smartphones at the tour. We really hope to see Asia again soon!" More...
On April 7th, the self-titled, debut album from The Doomsday Prophecy will descend upon mankind and deliver eight haunting doom metal tracks with a pinch of NWOBHM.
Today, the band's mastermind Leif Edling unveils the first track-by-track feature, in which he sheds light on the background of the songs "Silent Kingdom," "Never Machine," "A Spoonful Of Darkness," and "See You Tomorrow."
Urizen just checked in with the following statement about being hiatus due to bassist Rustin Luther's health issues:
"Hello friends! I want to apologize for the radio silence around here, I know we've been very quiet since the tour and PAX, so we figured it was time for a little update.
"To make a long story short, Rustin has been going through some pretty major health struggles in his fight against cancer. There's no need to go into specific detail, but he's been struggling pretty hard for the past few months, even during our time on the road. With everything that is going on, we've all taken a step back from the band to focus on doing what is best for Rustin.
"We will keep you guys updated with any developments, but for the time being, please send your positive thoughts, vibes, prayers, mojo, and whatnot in Rustin's direction, because I know he would appreciate them!
"Thank you all for your continued love and support over the years. We cherish all of the memories we've created with you guys, and we're looking forward to making many more in the times to come!" More...

French metal crew Eths just announced the band's final performances will be in Paris and Marseilles, and feature the return of original vocalist Candice Clot. A founding member of the band, Candice Clot has appeared on Eth's classic albums "Soma" (2004), "Teratologie
(2008), and "III" (2012).
Regarding the recent news about the Eths breakup, and the forthcoming final performances, the band comments: "These last few years, a number of ordeals slowly pushed us towards different musical yearnings while dulling the fun that we have had playing as a band. Eths has always been about honesty and fun, but we have to face the fact that our hearts are not in there anymore. Therefore we made the joined decision to call it quits - in order to fully focus on our separate musical endeavors and to find our joy in music again.
"From the bottom of our hearts, we want to extend our deepest thanks to all the fans, old and new, who supported the band through thick and thin. Thank you also to all musicians, road crews, bookers, radio DJs, directors, graphic designers, photographers, producers, journalists, and all other professionals of the music business, who helped us out in one way or another along the way. We have experienced unforgettable moments thanks to all of you and we will cherish those times forever." More...

"Welcome To Wacken" is an interactive virtual reality documentary that takes you deep inside Germany's Wacken Open Air - the biggest heavy metal festival on Earth.
Produced by Canada's Banger Films ("Metal Evolution," "Iron Maiden: Flight 666") and Secret Location, this is the first fully 360° virtual reality music festival documentary: a story in five parts as told by different fans from around the world and climaxing with a live performance from Arch Enemy that puts viewers on stage with the band.
The world premiere will debut at Hot Docs, Canadian International Documentary Festival as part of the DocX programme (April 28 to May 1) in Toronto. It will be available on most major VR platforms following the festival.
“Ever since our first film 'Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey,' we’ve wanted to create something unique about Wacken,” said Sam Dunn, director and co-founder of Banger Films. “Metalheads around the world know that going to Wacken is a truly transformative experience. And we felt that the best way to capture this feeling was by filming in Virtual Reality. It’s the next best thing to actually having your feet in the mud at Wacken!” More...
Kentucky-based group Moonbow began in 2011 when vocalist/BMX legend Matt Bischoff and Hank 3 guitarist Davey McElfresh met at McElfresh’s Covington apartment to outline the details of a new project.
What started out as a simple partnership quickly gained momentum and turned into something considerably more when Steve Earle (Afghan Whigs, Hermano) stepped in on drums and former Valley Of The Sun bassist Ryan McAllister was invited to service the low end. After only a few weeks it was obvious that something pretty badass was happening and since setting off on that one-way track, Moonbow has become a serious force to be reckoned with.

When it comes to playthroughs, there are two kinds: the snoozethrough (self-explanatory), and the slamthrough (heads are crushed by a serious amount of musicianship). With that, we present to you the latter, in the form of Trilateral's song "Arbitrarium," taken from the "Elliptic Orbits" album.
In this second of three playthroughs (check out previous drum clip for "Fountainhead" over here), bassist Sam Smit demonstrates the dexterity, prowess, and sophisticated brutality that have become the hallmarks of the Trilateral experience. New album "Elliptic Orbits" was released March 11th independently via Bandcamp. More...
Experimental black metal band Farsot will release third album, "Fail-Lure," on April 21st via Prophecy Productions / Lupus Lounge. In advance of the LP's release, today a new video for "The Antagonist" comes online and can be seen below.
"Fail-Lure" is conceptually inspired by the Peter Greenaway film, "Drowning by Numbers," which won the award for Best Artistic Contribution at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival, as well as Art Nouveau works such as Khnopff's "Ishtar," Klimt's "Water Serpents," Kotarbinski's "Kiss of Medusa," and Schwabe's "La Vague."
The record’s art features a sculpture by French artist Denis Lavoyer that depicts a female idealized with threatening, claw-like branches for arms, addressing the inevitable dilemma between fascination and mania and seeming rifts between the sexes; it is an allegory of life as an endless game that cannot be won.
2. Circular Stains

Following up on an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign late last year, GWAR will bring the blasphemous, blood-soaked series that fans demanded to print in June, courtesy of Dynamite Entertainment. Check out a trailer for the upcoming "Orgasmageddon" comic series below.
From the depths of outer space to the frozen wasteland of Antarctica, punk rock and heavy metal's most shocking band of intergalactic blood-spewing alien monsters has returned to kill everything and respect nothing in the pages of "GWAR: Orgasmageddon." The first issue will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors' April 2017 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in June.
Banished to the past by the cold and calculating Mr. Perfect, the heroes of GWAR trample through time like a deranged Bill & Ted on bath salts. Antics ensue as they stomp and smash and shape human history to what we accept as our current reality. Co-written by GWAR and Matt Miner (Toe Tag Riot, Critical Hit), and featuring art by Jonathan Brandon Sawyer (Welcome Back, Critical Hit), "Orgasmageddon" is a love letter to comics, grindhouse movies, and heavy metal, sure to appeal both to the most die-hard fan and the comics fanboy/fangirl intrigued by the prospect of social awareness drowned in geysers of blood and alien jizz. Calgary-based group Sentient just checked in with the following update about working on a new album and parting ways with bassist / vocalist Ranjit:
"Fans, friends... we told you it was a crazy world, and today we bring you some crazy news. We write you all today to tell you that our brother, and founding member Ranjit Ranawaya, has decided to part ways with Sentient.
"Life changes as time goes on, and we wish our brother the best of luck and success on whatever road he takes. It has been a blast. It has been one hell of an adventure. We thank you Ranjit, for being a part of this vision. Sentient will never be the same again.
"Fans, friends.... We of Sentient have been honored to share the stage with some brilliant musicians over the years. It has been a very, very long road....and we are far from finished. We have an album to record and release, Loud As Hell to level, and a huge secret show yet to be announced.
"We are now openly auditioning for a new bassist, bassist/vocalist, or if need be both. We are looking for a permanent, full time, contributing member(s). The new member will write and record their own bass lines.
"Anyone who wishes to audition please contact Edmund Saulnier or Scott Tanner. For those of our fans and friends that are worried, we do have a temporary, fill in member already getting rehearsed.
"So have no fear. The album will reign supreme. The shows will be unreal. Our time is now. We are here." More...

Following a recent drum playthrough vid, Vancouver progressive metal virtuoso OmnisighT has teamed up with Blackroom Films to release a new live video for the track "Shift The Paradigm."
The video was shot during the "Power Of One" EP release party on March 11th at The Astoria in Vancouver, BC. Check it out below. Guitarist Blake Rurik comments:
"'Shift The Paradigm' is definitely a track that features everything OmnisighT's known for: Extreme musicianship, big vocal hooks and great grooves. I was having some technical difficulties at the beginning of the song, but the show must go on! I've always liked music videos that show the realism of live performance, so I think it's pretty cool. It was awesome to debut the new material and shred it up live!"
It's been a long time since a band got booted from the House Of Blues for being "unfit to be associated with Disney" but I guess it's that time of year again!
As usual, no reason was given, and it's apparent the band isn't particularly amused by this turn of events, as shown by the string of tweets below to fans wondering why Every Time I Die wasn't on the bill for this particular show.
The show was scheduled for July 20th in Orlando. For a complete list of upcoming Every Time I Die dates not being dicked all up and down by the ever-lovable Disney, head over to this location. More...

Darkest Hour, which released ninth album, "Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora," earlier this month, just announced a limited edition 7-inch titled “Pain Killer/I Don’t Want to Hear It” coming via Southern Lord Recordings for Record Store Day (April 22nd).
The release, which is limited to 1000 copies, features the song “Enter Oblivion” from "Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora," as well as covers of Minor Threat’s “I Don’t Want To Hear It” and Judas Priest’s “Pain Killer.” All proceeds from the 7-inch will be donated to the National Immigration Law Center.
Band founder and guitar player Mike Schleibaum had this to say about the release:
“It is with great pride we present to you our first Record Store Day release, which also happens to be our first 7-inch record in almost two decades! This 7-inch features two covers that we recorded before the launch of our Indiegogo campaign last year. Although the songs were released for free as part of a thank you to our loyal fans we felt they wouldn't get their justice served without some sort of physical release. In addition to the covers, this 7-inch also includes the song ‘Enter Oblivion’ from our new album, 'Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora.' This song and 7-inch have a very special meaning for us.
"Having toured the world countless times at this point, we have seen the destructiveness and divisiveness that arises from nation states, borders, and immigration policies. These invisible, arbitrary lines that divide families, cultures, and humanity are archaic and obsolete. We believe that no human being is ever illegal just for existing. We believe that everyone regardless of race, religion, age, ethic heritage, sexual identification and sexual orientation should be treated with the respect and dignity that everyone deserves. More...
Cypher16 just wrapped up a successful 24-city North American tour with headliners Amaranthe, and today, the band is following with a brand new music video for the single "Open The Dark Door."
The video's backdrop is the impressive and striking London Natural History Museum, where the band was given behind-the-scenes access to film this "Night At The Museum"-esque footage. The clip was directed by Ben Thornley of Sitcom Soldiers and can be seen below.
Frontman Jack Doolan says: "368 days in the making, 'Open The Dark Door' at the Natural History Museum started out as a ridiculous and over-ambitious idea, but thanks to the hard work of a lot of people, became a reality. Like the 'Lonely Road' video (which we shot at Battersea Power Station), finding an amazing and awe-inspiring venue was essential.
"When we somehow convinced the team at the NHM to let us invade for one night, Cypher16 was not only the first heavy rock band to ever conduct a full-scale shoot both outside and inside the Hintze Hall, but the shoot became one of the last projects to film with Dippy the Dinosaur before he left the museum for his extended tour.
"We knew we would have to bring in a great film and direction team to help us make it a reality. Enter Ben, Bez and crew at Sitcom Soldiers, who brought their vision, enthusiasm and expertise and really made it all happen! I hope you all enjoy watching it our 'night at the museum' as much as we enjoyed making it, although I won't deny, it was one of the longest nights of my life!" More...
Texas' Power Trip just released an official video for "Executioner's Tax (Swing Of The Axe)" as the band continues to tour the planet in support of the "Nightmare Logic" LP, currently torching the West Coast of North America and heading to Europe next.
Power Trip's new video for "Executioner's Tax (Swing Of The Axe)" was captured at a spirited hometown show in Dallas and melts with clips of political propaganda encompassing vocalist Riley Gale's lyrics that hone in on the devaluation of human life by those who've gained power through money and politics.
The video was directed by Andy Capper (Vice, Noisey) with director of photography Joel Pront, and editor Andrew Betsch. A full list of upcoming tour dates can be found after the video clip. More...

Hexa Mera comments: "The song is heavy yet fragile, and the lyrics tie the whole album together. It's a very emotional track, as if the five of us took a slice of our soul and put it into music. It's about finding your path, finding a sense of purpose. It's about accepting your place in the universe. It's about enlightenment. We get goosebumps every time we play it."
The album was recorded at Empyrean Studio, mixed at OceanSide Studio by Ace Zec, and mastered at Fascination Street Studios By Jens Bogren. The artwork for Hexa Mera’s follow-up to 2014’s “Human Entropy” was created by Colin Marks from Rain Song Design and the track listing is as follows:

2017 marks a jubilee year! 35 years of Tankard!
And, of course, a suitable soundtrack cannot be neglected for the occasion. The band’s 17th studio album will be entitled "One Foot In The Grave" and will be released on June 2nd via Nuclear Blast Records.
Today, the band is proud to reveal the cover artwork for the anniversary album. With this, the iconic band mascot the Tankard-Alien celebrates his return after about 13 years of absence. The alien was born in 1989 along with the "Alien" EP and has since graced five album covers. The Tankard fan club - the "Maniac Aliens" - is also named after it.
The artwork was brought to life by Patrick Strogulski, who is a student of Sebastian Krüger, the former Tankard cover artist. He also created the cover artwork for previous Tankard albums "A Girl Called Cerveza" and "R.I.B."
Vocalist Gerre commented: "Mister Strogulski has once again created a real masterpiece and surpassed himself. Our first plan was that I would be on the cover instead of the alien... but, lucky me, it ended up being the alien included instead..."

With each new metal band that hits the scene comes the challenge of standing out in a segment characterized by cookie-cutter style and classification. Equally problematic is an at times harsh and abrasive vocal style that might be described as an "acquired taste" at best. The significance being that a good percentage of metal bands all end up sounding the same. The rare exception is in which a metal band blends thrash with some sort of other form of music/melody. The latest group to get in on this metal/thrash renovation, and perhaps start the wave and convey "old school" roots to a modern spherical freshness, is Tucson, Arizona's Tribulance.
Tribulance is set to release "The Aftermath of Lies" May 5th. Pre-orders will be available soon. Listen to the first single "Oblivious" in the player below.
Hard hitting, no-nonsense metal with a "go big or go home" attitude, Tribulance displays an aptitude equal to any national act on the scene today. Thriving on an energetic live show, dynamic stage presence, complete with stage props, hard hitting music, and an image to boost, Tribulance will stop at nothing to prove the band has what it takes to be taken seriously in the metal world.
