Mexican slam brigade Scrotoctomy has revealed full details on debut album "Born to Eviscerate," featuring album art by Indonesian illustrator Aghy Purakusuma Art and recorded by Carlos Cruz at El Abuelo Slam Music Studio.
“'Born to Eviscerate' was written and recorded throughout 2016,” states vocalist Omar García. “We changed things up a bit when you compare this album to our EP, ‘From Torture to Putrefaction’. With influences such as Pathology and Katalepsy, we tried giving this album a more brutal death approach. Overall, we sped up the new tunes and in some cases, made it more technical. We hope this album can become a strong reference to what is Mexican death metal."

Based in Valemount, BC near Jasper National Park with the beautiful backdrop of the Canadian Rockies, there stands an outdoor festival that just doesn’t celebrate music, but embraces the power of women in metal.
Formed in 2016, Metalocalypstick Fest was created to present a unique experience within the Western Canadian metal community, a gathering of similar views, aspirations and musical taste (similar to former mainstream music festival Lilith Fair).
Founded by Kaija Kinney of Vancouver’s Anarcheon after researching a lack of female-based metal festivals to apply her band to, Kinney took matters into in her own and decided to produce the event.
Kinney comments: “This festival means the celebration of both sexes coming together and creating something amazing. People like to say women in metal aren’t a big deal anymore and that we are all the same. I feel that is untrue, this is still a male dominated world and woman are still looked as lesser. I want to showcase all these bad ass ladies and celebrate the differences of men and woman rather than pretend we are all equal. Truth is we are different why can't we celebrate that?” More...

Finnish thrash metal band Justice Theory has released a new single titled ”Welcome To The Family." The song chronicles a citizen who has had enough of this world shackled by foolish standards and limitations, so he builds a family of rebels to riot against all the rules.
Justice Theory's Valtteri comments: "In the beginning we decided that our next single is going to be cheery, high-powered track. We took few steps back from massiveness and melodiousness that our previous single 'Unbroken' was all about. '
"'Welcome To The Family' is highly inspired by our first single 'Necessary Evil' and also has the vibes that Anthrax were been able to bring in their songs – Not too seriously, but convincingly. I think that we managed to get what we wanted in this song, and I’m quite sure that it will be one of the highlights on our upcoming shows. IT ROCKS!
"This song is dedicated to our dearest friends and fans, who are supported and believed in us from the very beginning. We are more than happy to see that you guys are out there! So huge thank you all!" More...

For the second time in only a month, Sunday Old School presents itself in a sombre tone. Having lost Kittie bassist Trish Doan in February and paying tribute to her at the beginning of the month, this column pays its respects to another fallen metal musician, Gabriel Mafa, better known to the world as Negru, the drummer and co-founder of what is perhaps Romania's best known metal group, Negura Bunget, who tragically and suddenly passed away five days ago from a suspected heart attack at the age of 42.
The roots of Negura Bunget can be traced back to 1994 when Negru, along with Hupogrammos Disciple (real name Edmond Karban) on vocals, guitar and keyboards, founded the band Wiccan Rede in the major city of Timi?oara in west Romania. Under this moniker, the duo recorded and released one demo, "From Transilvanian Forests" in 1995, before changing their name to the now familiar Negura Bunget, which roughly translates to "dark foggy forest." Following this decision, the two musicians traveled to the Romanian capital city of Bucharest to record their debut album, "Zîrnindu-sa," which translates to "getting weak." More...
