Lemmy Mural Unveiled

Lemmy's Lounge, located in the outdoor patio at the world-famous Rainbow Bar and Grill on LA's Sunset Strip, just got a very big addition - a 20 foot high mural of the man himself.

Already situated in Lemmy's Lounge is a bronze statue immortalizing the Motörhead singer. The life-size sculpture - based on a famous Lemmy photograph by Robert John - features shades of black and metallic bronze throughout, with detailed lines and strategic crevices capturing Kilmister's familiar features, from his bristly whiskers to his infamous moles to his signature hat and boots.

In memory of rock's greatest front man, the patio where Lemmy spent most of his life when not on the road or in the studio was dedicated to him by naming this area Lemmy's Lounge, thanks to Rainbow owner Mikael Maglieri.

Roxy owner Nic Adler and Paul Tollett of Goldenvoice subsequently agreed to allow the painting of a celebratory mural commemorating the life of Lemmy and Motorhead on the side wall of the Roxy, opposite Lemmy's Lounge and statue.

Motörhead's management ran a contest seeking a muralist painter, and the winner was Jules Muck. Although it was not known at the time she was chosen, Jules was born in the same U.K. town as Lemmy, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Like Lemmy, she's now adopted Los Angeles as her home. More...

David Ellefson Releasing Chorus Pedal

At the London Bass Guitar Show this weekend, Megadeth bassist and EMP Label Group president David Ellefson announced his collaboration with celebrated stompbox merchant Pro Tone Pedals to create the "Dawn Patrol" Chorus.

Says Ellefson, “When Pro Tone approached me with the idea of making some signature pedals, as a bass player, Chorus is one of my go-to effects live, an ace weapon in my arsenal, and in many regards, helped me transition my signature tone from studio to live on classic songs like 'Dawn Patrol.' So the idea of developing a great chorus pedal was really a no-brainer.

"Dennis and the Pro Tone team are technical wizards, and developed the Dawn Patrol to my exact specifications, and together we’ve created a high quality, hand-built stompbox pedal that I’m positive will find a special place in any bassist’s rig.”

David joins the the elite family of Pro Tone Signature artists including Tosin Abasi, Jeff Loomis, Fear Factory, Alice in Chains, Prong, Deftones, Living Colour, Overkill, 30 Seconds To Mars and more. More...

From Inside Covers Linkin Park's "Heavy"

A few weeks back Linkin Park released the very poorly named "Heavy," which was about as far from its namesake as a song can get. U.K. alternative metal outfit From Inside has now released a cover version that gets the track more towards what its name would imply.

The band says, “Linkin Park is without the doubt the band that defines our childhood. When we first heard their new song, 'Heavy,' we really wanted to relate to it, but without those killer distorted guitars, Mr. Hahn’s scratching, or Mike Shinoda’s rapping, it just wasn’t the Linkin Park that has inspired us so much in our lives.

"We felt compelled to write a tribute to the band that has released those lives changing album - 'Hybrid Theory' and 'Meteora,' So we all agreed to take it upon ourselves to head straight into the studio and put our own spin on how we feel 'Heavy' could have sounded if they had approached it in the same vein as their earlier album. We simply wanted to put the heavy side back into the Linkin Park sound.” More...

Hideous Divinity Streaming New Song

"Adveniens" is the impending new studio offering from Italian death metal unit Hideous Divinity, which features within its ranks current and former members of Hour Of Penance and Aborted.

Slated for release on April 28th, the follow-up to the "Cobra Verde" long player was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Stefano Morabito's 16th Cellar Studio during the Autumn of 2016 and includes a rendition of Sinister's "Embodiment Of Chaos."

In advance of its release, today new single "Ages Die" is offered up for public consumption. Guitarist Enrico Schettino comments: "This is our all-in choice as first single from 'Adveniens,' our new manifesto, our latest epiphany, the limbo between what has been our previous life and the future that awaits Hideous Divinity -- and bear with us, there's much more to see... and hear. This is the soundtrack to smoking ruins we witness before being carried away, just like the Angelus Novus, just like the Adveniens himself. Experience with us the future of the past."

"The entire album is a reflection on history and time," notes Schettino, "on the succession of futile ages, on the role of the poet as soothsayer and witness of the winds of time erasing each one of these ages from the face of the earth. A reflection on Walter Benjamin predicting the 'adveniens' of David Cronenberg, on Professor O'Blivion predicting an era when 'all of us will have special names.' Adveniens is a violent reflection on art." More...
