Soul Demise Announces "Thin Red Line"

Red is one of the most frequently used signal colors in science and in our everyday life. Soul Demise talks about a “Thin Red Line” with an impending new album and will for sure address something significant.

On previous album “Sindustry,” these five Germans showed that they are able to look beyond the boundaries of melodic death metal, and this time, they are getting even more ambitious.

Defying conventions, individual instruments were recorded in different studios. Drums were laid down with the help of Christoph Brandes in his Iguana Studios, Dennis Schneider guarded the tracking of the guitar and bass in Mainblast Studios, and the vocals were recorded at Rebound Studios under the watchful eyes of Simon Hammer.

In the end of the process, Tue Madsen in his Antfarm Studios handled mixing duties and succeeded in creating a very powerful sound, which represents all the strengths of the new material. The album's musical statement is visualized with the artwork by Bjoern Gooßes from Killustrations. More...

Magenta Harvest Inks Record Deal

Finnish group Magenta Harvest has inked a deal with Apostasy Records for a new album release. The label comments:

"If a thought is so strong that it turns a two-men-project into a whole band, it has to be a very infectious one! Magenta Harvest from Finland’s Pietarsaari started out as the brainchild of drummer Janne Manninen and guitarist Timo Kontio. Over the years, the band evolved into a quintet, which released a strong death metal-debut: 'Volatile Waters' (2014).

"Recently, the band was added to the roster of the respected booking-agency Dragon Productions and we are proud to announce that their forthcoming record will be released via Apostasy Records. Stay tuned for more information!"

Magenta Harvest 2017 consists of:

Thunderosa Announces 20th Anniversary Shows

Thunderosa, the Live Music Capital of the World's hardest working band, is now celebrating 20 years of dirty, southern rock 'n' roll. The group has been on a major tour campaign with more shows slotted for March. Check the flyer below to see where the party is headed next.

If Lemmy from Motörhead pricked his thumb with a cactus and then jammed with Down, it would have sounded something like Thunderosa. The band is pure hard rockin' roll with obvious nods to classic rock bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and and ZZ Top, and stoner sludge keeping pace with C.O.C.

Thunderosa concerts are a mix of famous covers and well-known originals. Ladies and gentlemen (for lack of a better term) boogie down to the Austin-based band's patent groove-that-makes-your-body move, all the while chugging copious amounts of booze. Thunderosa offers "quality arena rock at dive bar prices."

Although AJ Mac started the band 20 years ago in Tucson, Thunderosa has practically become as staple a sight in Austin, Texas as Willie Nelson Boulevard or Stevie Ray Vaughn's statue. More...

Column

Sunday Old School: Kittie

As has been said several times throughout the history of this column, the saddest reason to feature a band is following a death in the family as it were. Following the tragic passing of bass player Trish Doan on February 11th, it seems appropriate that Sunday Old School takes the time to look at one of North America's most famous all female metal bands, with whom Doan made her name, Kittie.

Kittie began life in 1996 in London, Ontario when drummer Mercedes Lander and guitarist Fallon Bowman met in school and began jamming together. They were quickly joined by Morgan Lander, the sister of Mercedes on lead vocals and guitar and after a search, recruited bass player Tanya Candler. With a full lineup, the quartet began recording demos and performing live in 1998, with a record deal arriving the next year after the band asked NG Records executive Jake Weiner. Though they signed with NG, they were switched to Artemis Records following a takeover. More...
