Solstafir today streams a second new track off impending album "Berdreyminn." The track, a deeply personal, emotional, and soaring album closer titled "Bláfjall," is streaming below. Vocalist / guitarist Aðalbjörn Tryggvason comments:
"The meaning of 'Bláfjall' is blue – as in a black, black mountain, and it revolves around man's battle against his own mind and those inner demons that often lead to self-destruction and harming one's loved ones.
"I have myself struggled with alcoholism and it remains a never-ending battle and continuously walking further up a mountain in foggy darkness. But this is also about hope, because there is a way out, but you have to grab that rope when it comes swinging towards you and hold on to it as tight as you can. Everybody can end up lost on the black mountain, or 'Bláfjall' in this case."
New album "Berdreyminn" (which translates to a "dreamer of forthcoming events") will be released worldwide on May 26th and was produced by Birgir Birgirsson and Jaime Gomez-Arellano. Cover art was provided by Adam Burke, while the track listing is as follows:
Arizona based quartet American Standards is set to release forthcoming full-length album, "Anti-Melody," on April 28th.
Forming in 2011 and releasing a first record in 2012 on We Are Triumphant, the band quickly became known for intense live shows, a tongue in cheek demeanor, and relentless work ethic playing over 250+ shows to date.
Vocalist Brandon Kellum comments: "What started as social commentary on the growing divide in our society became very personal when our founding guitarist (Cody Conrad) passed of suicide and then soon after, my father of cancer. We went back in to re-write much of the album and in a lot of ways used it as therapy to deal with the experiences. Although very personal, at its core Anti-Melody is centered around the universal theme of separation on many levels." More...
Hibagon is a heavy polyrhythmic two-piece that channels the energy of the straightforward guitar & drums formula into irregular textures, bringing it back to the listener in geometric and distorted frames. Born in Bergamo, Italy in 2011, the band has published two EPs and performed shows in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France, Belgium, Ireland and the U.K.
In May of 2017, the duo will release "Polyposmic," the band's first full-length record, which will include 12 intense and dynamic tracks that have been built, torn apart, and reassembled an infinite number of times to reach the most effective sequence of multiple themes.
The story behind the album takes off with Hibagon facing Moughra and falling in a state of unconsciousness. Reborn in a new shape after 120 thousand years, now he transcends space and time, and forces everything that happens to be on his path to mutate and reach new forms: the names on the track list are flashing suggestions of these alterations, to take the listener closer to the screenplay and then push him into a spiral of mathy grooves. As "The Grave Alchemist," the impending new full-length album from North Carolina-based blackened thrash trio All Hell draws closer to release, today a lyric video for grim album closer "I Am The Mist" comes online.
Elaborates vocalist/guitarist Jacob Curwen: "The closing track 'I Am The Mist' is inspired by the dread inherent in the power of nature and within our own personal histories. Conceptually, it represents the ascension of the Alchemist and his integration with nature and the collective unconscious. We felt it fitting to end the album in a way that closed the events of the narrative while simultaneously widening the scope and relevance of the album's central theme."
A twelve-track, narrative-driven horror concept album that weaves a tale of alchemy, necromancy, and vampirism over the span of three centuries, "The Grave Alchemist" is a potent blend of violence, mysticism, psychology, and the occult, distilled into an aural elixir of Blood and Gold. More...

War Records welcomes Louisville, Kentucky-based hardcore outfit Miracle Drug to the label's roster, and today announces the upcoming release of the band's newly-completed "How Much Is Enough" EP. The label comments:
"Right here. Right now. Miracle Drug prefers to live in the present, existing in the moment, channeling the experiences of the past through the energy and excitement of the future. It should come as no surprise that there is a subtle familiarity in the band's sound, as the lineup is comprised of current and former members of notable hardcore acts Mouthpiece, Supertouch, By The Grace Of God, and C.R.
"After a well-received release of the band's 2015 demo on New York record label Trip Machine Laboratories, Miracle Drug returned to the studio in the Fall of 2016 to capture its follow-up. Recorded by Will Allard (Xerxes, Whips/Chains) at his studio Dot Complex in Louisville, 'How Much is Enough' is a five-song blast of raw, aggressive, yet melodic-tinged hardcore that should satisfy both fans of the early Revelation Records catalog and late '80s D.C. hardcore.
"With a sound that spans different generations of hardcore, Miracle Drug puts their own spin on a sound crafted in the '80s by bands like Swiz and Dag Nasty, mixing it with a more chaotic and noisy brand of hardcore played by such '90s hardcore bands as Sparkmarker, 108, Refused, and Threadbare." Horror Pain Gore Death Productions has signed Austin, TX's crusty death metal crew Sigil for the release of debut album "Kingdom Of The Grave" on April 7th via CD and digital formats.
The album's title track was released a few weeks ago and now Sigil is ready for another brutal assault with "Even The Gods Will Burn." Listen in below.
Vocalist / guitarist Alex Citrone states: "this is definitely the thrashiest/fastest track on the record and stands apart from the other songs for that reason. Thematically it's about the destructive nature of radicalized religion, regardless of what that religion is."
Citrone goes on to say, "'Kingdom of the Grave' is pure, raw death metal with an explosive energy to it. It has themes of the occult, suicide, police brutality and a dystopian future. Fans of the old and new school will find something to love." More...

Guitarists Nylock and Neal Tiemann wrote the song, and this is the first song released from the band's upcoming debut album entitled 'Hatred Index.'"
The formation of Witch Casket began in 2013 when ex-Sothis guitarist Colin "Nylock" Cameron and guitarist Neal Tiemann started working on writing songs together in Nylock's Los Angeles studio. Once a majority of the songs had been written, ex-Sothis vocalist Adam "Drogoth" McCarthy was brought on to handle writing lyrics and recording vocals. More...

Thränenkind has decided to change the band's name to Kink Apathy. Check out a video for the track "Homeruiner" below under the new band name. King Apathy also issued this statement about the name swap:
"Thränenkind was founded almost exactly ten years ago. For us this marks a great opportunity to reveal our new band name: King Apathy. This may come as a surprise, but if you have followed our effort in the last year, this name will be familiar to you.
"It is also the title of our latest album, released in May 2016, which we all are very proud of. The ten year anniversary seemed to be a convenient point to take this hard, but nevertheless important step for us. What has once been started as a solo project has grown into a full band by now and also the musical style of our latest releases differs from the depressive black metal embodied on the first demo/EP. So have the lyrics on King Apathy, many of them composed by Nils – mainly focusing on very personal social criticism, driven by postmodern alienation – as they are in no way connected to the romantic and depressive lyrics of older Thränenkind songs. On the heels of signing a new record deal with Sliptrick Records, Italy's Hadal announced the new release to be entitled "Painful Shadow." The album drops today, March 22nd through the label.
All the tracks for the album were mixed and mastered at Track Terminal Studio by Francesco “Bardy” Bardaro, who has already proven to be a real sonic institution on the northeast Italian landscape (Damned Pilots, Tytus, Concrete Jelly).
"Painful Shadow" is inspired by the true origins of the band. Every detail is a tribute to the 90’s, starting from the composing process and ending with the sound production. We are talking about legendary outfits such as Paradise Lost, Tiamat, Moonspell, Amorphis, etc. Hadal extract sad melodies from the band members' own dark feelings, seen as a cathartic procedure to face human tragedies. Some tracks originate from the band's early period, while other, more recent tracks, are more experimental in nature. Nonetheless, there is a unique stream of consciousness that will guide the listener through the "Painful Shadow" experience.
The album's track listing is:
2. Painful Shadow
3. The Shape Of Lies
4. Dying Fall
5. Slow Violence
7. Vox Arcana
9. Land Of Grief
10. Black Flowers
11. White Shade (Bonus Track) More...

The band commented on the clip: "We have released a new video with a strong message. The song 'The Dirge' raises the question: 'Why do we have wars?' They are horrible and the majority of mankind seems to despise it. The song was inspired by the annexation of Crimea, the Vietnam war and the Korean war.
Björn commented: "The lyrics I wrote tells us about the consequences of letting our hate spin out of control, and when governments twist lies into truths to justify war!"
"The Somme" is a conceptual release with stories from World War I, World War II and the similarities between those and the crises we see today in our world. It's track listing is as follows:
1. Marseille 1914

Finnish band Hukutus debuts a new song entitled "Metsä ja yö" (meaning "The Forest and the Night"). The cover art for the single was done by Li Virtanen.
Explains the band: "Emotionally, this songs steps into black metal territory, but in ethereal and mid-paced ways. We pursued to capture a feeling of sacredness. The title translates to ‘The Forest and the Night’ and the concept is rather straightforward — on one hand, the song is an ode to our heritage and on the other, it describes a force that is older than our world, from a time before any light was created. Outside laws of nature and beyond all restrictions. And it guides our path through this existence."
