Northlane Releases Surprise Album

Northlane just released surprise fourth album "Mesmer" worldwide. The album appeared with no forewarning on digital services this morning.

Recorded throughout September 2016 in New Jersey with producer David Bendeth (Bring Me The Horizon, Paramore, A Day To Remember), this is Northlane's defining statement, presented directly to the fans in an unorthodox manner. The band comments:

"Through determination, hard work, sacrifice, and a bit of luck, we are able to travel the world taking our music to fans both old and new. We're able to spend time crafting the music we want to hear with the benefit of not having to leave the studio early to go and work a job. To an artist, these are real luxuries. We appreciate them more than anything and we're in the position of being able to do this because of you — our incredible fans who continue to support us. You free us to be the artists we want to be.

"This is our way of rewarding our fans for everything they've given us. What our music means to you is what it means to us. Art is an experience, and to us it reserves no room for competition, and the only accolade that matters to us is the place this holds in your heart.

"Releasing 'Mesmer' in this way has been right for us at this moment in time. We have grown immeasurably as people and as a band through the toughest recording process we've ever endured. We've been tested every step of the way and have come out the other side with something we are truly proud of. We didn't want to keep it from you a moment longer than we had to. We felt we owed it to this album to try and think creatively about every aspect of the way people would experience Mesmer, like a gift from us to you that is being unboxed. We wanted to make everyon's discovery of this moment special." More...

All Out War Headlining Bozzfest Charity Show

Veteran New York metal / hardcore outfit All Out War is set to headline Bozzfest, a special one-off show in Brooklyn tomorrow - Friday, March 24th - as a benefit for longtime Decibel contributor David Shawn Bosler.

Over the Christmas holiday, Bosler, also of black metal act Kosmodemonic, was in a serious car accident that left him with a horrific list of broken bones and injuries, requiring multiple surgeries and putting him on a long road to full rehabilitation.

The writer's friends and cohorts now unite for Bozzfest, to help with his rehabilitative medical bills. On March 24th, 2017, Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn is hosting a benefit show, with 100 percent of the money raised going to Bosler's recovery fund.

The bill is topped by a rare live appearance from savage metalcore stalwarts All Out War, joined by local black metal philosophers Anicon, brutal Philly grinders Die Choking, and the hypnotic soundscapes of Insect Ark. There will also be some one-of-a-kind items up for raffle to help Bosler and his family. Grab your tickets here or if you can't make it, contribute to the GoFundMe campaign instead. More...

Noumena Posts New Song

Finnish metal group Noumena will release fifth studio album "Myrrys" on the 28th of April via Inverse Records. The album is a strong follower to Noumena’s previous release ”Death Walks With Me” that arrived four years ago.

As an appetizer, Noumena serves single track “Metsän viha” in digital services and as a lyric video below. Guitarist Tuukka Tuomela comments:

"'Metsän viha' is an upbeat opening track of the album, which is a great choice as a single as well. The song combines catchy melodies, badass riffs, overwhelming drumming and Andy’s and Suvi’s merciless growls. Lyrics deal with the humanity’s ability to destroy everything vital and dear." More...

Hideous Divinity Streams "Angel Of Revolution"

Next month, Italian death metal unit Hideous Divinity, which features within its ranks current and former members of Hour Of Penance and Aborted, will unleash the "Adveniens" full-length album via Unique Leader.

In advance of its release, the band has unveiled "Angel Of Revolution" for communal
dissection. Elaborates guitarist Enrico Schettino of the track:

"Where did all this come from? Anger and frustration. Time was running out, recording sessions were approaching, and still, something was missing. The Riff was not there. Yet. Hours were spent listening, relistening, writing, and rewriting, and nothing. Almost giving up, it came. The Riff. Straight, simple, impulsive.

"The rest was easy: Stefano [Franceschini] came along with his punishing bassline and [vocalist] Enrico H. with the lyrics, one of his most memorable entrances ever. Listen to it: You will notice something different. Peculiar. What you hear is A Note. Ladies and gentlemen, here's 'Angel Of Revolution," the straight-to-the-face smasher of the album."

Slated for release on April 28th, the follow-up to previous "Cobra Verde" long player was recorded, mixed and mastered at Stefano Morabito's 16th Cellar Studio (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse etc.) during the Autumn of 2016. More...

A Hero For The World Announces New Album

International melodic crew A Hero For The World announced today that a new album called "West To East Part 1 - Frontier Vigilante" is to be released this summer. This is the second all-original, full-length album from the band, and the first in 4 years.

In the years since the previous debut album, A Hero For The World has released a full-length Christmas album ("Winter Is Coming - A Holiday Rock Opera") in addition to several EPs and singles.

After surviving a 7.2 earthquake and the super typhoon Yolanda in October & November 2013 that struck the Philippine islands, Jacob and Louie departed to the USA, where several songs where written in Nashville, and then they eventually settled in Europe by the Mediterranean. Jacob would during those years come to write over 100 songs that have yet to be recorded.

"West To East" is an adventure concept; a trilogy album series, with the first album having both the story and the music influenced by the Wild West legends and movies. The second part (hopefully out in 2018) continues the journey to the East, and in the third part the hero goes beyond this Earth and eventually out into the galaxy. The "hero" remains unnamed. Tengger Cavalry Releases Avril Lavigne Cover

Global Music Award winning Nomadic Mongolian folk metal group Tengger Cavalry isn't just all about history, heavy metal, and cultural issues. Sometimes, the NYC-based quintet just wants to take time to have fun.

Tengger Cavalry lets loose this month by recording not one, but two covers of tracks by pop star Avril Lavigne. Showcasing an ability to explore different influences while remaining true to one core unique sound, Tengger Cavalry has unleashed this Mongolian metal version of the hit song, "My Happy Ending."

"My Happy Ending" follows the band's release of another Avril Lavigne cover, "Sk8er Boi," which is available now via iTunes. Frontman Nature Ganganbaigal says: "Recording this track was one of the weirdest ideas I have ever had. Generally, I find that the metal community dislikes pop stuff a lot, but Avril, she does have some good hooks! 'My Happy Ending' has some cool leads and I figured I could spin it around with some Morin Khuur and Mongolian fiddle. I also wanted to use this opportunity to experiment a bit with my clean vocal performance. But, all in all, we just did this for fun. We hope our fans like it!" More...

Methane Recruits New Drummer

Swedish / U.S. metallers Methane just announced Olle Ekman as the band's new drummer. Late in 2016, Andreas Strom gave notice that he would not be able continue as Methane's full time drummer and the band set out to find someone to fill his seat.

In February Methane found him, none other than a veteran in the Swedish metal scene, Olle Ekman. Ekman is probably most known as lead singer from Sweden's Deals Death alongside touring with Amaranthe.

Tim Scott (bass and vocals for Methane) and Ekman have both played in death metal band Volturyon, only not at the same time. Ekman sang on the first 2 albums from 2008-2011 and Scott played bass a short time in 2014 on the "Human Demolition" EP. Olle has not always been a singer. He originally was a drummer and has been it aching to get back behind a drum set. More...

Artificial Brain Streams "Infrared Horizon"

Copremesis and Gath Smane, and can be heard below.

"'Infrared Horizon' is written from the perspective of something non-human, trying to define human existence," issues Artificial Brain. "This is a track that we debuted live on our tour with The Black Dahlia Murder in late 2015, so it felt appropriate to have this be the track that features guest vocals by Black Dahlia singer Trevor Strnad. This song also features Paulo Paguntalan of Copremesis and Gath Smane, who contributes some vocals to the outro, a piece of the record that reflects our interest in incorporating more electronic experimentation into our sound."

Incontinence Announces "Prey For Us" Release

Spearheaded by four New York death metal veterans - involved in venerable acts such as Skinless, Held Under, Armor Column, Dry Heave and Burial - the appealingly named Incontinence proudly reveal details for the release of debut album, "Prey For Us."

Scheduled for release on May 15th, 2017 via Ultimate Massacre Productions, Incontinence came up with a record intent on bringing brutality to the metal-minded masses, within a package of strong tracks that hook the listener in and don’t let go.

As a taste of what's the come, the band just unleashed a track from the album entitled "Cryptofascist" - check it out below.

"The biggest underlying theme of the album is being under control, losing control and misery in lower-to-middle-class America," comments the band. "For example, 'Capitalist Martyr' deals with a lower-level employee of a large corporation being shamed and forced into working longer hours. 'Phantom Heart,' 'The Outrage Machine' and 'Inner Psychopath (Believe the Lie)' all tie into the theme of being under control, being manipulated and losing one's mind." More...
