"Another big chunk of the recording of the new album is starting today. While Mathieu and Pat are taking care of the vocals in Montreal, Antoine is recording the drum in his very own Hemisphere Studio in Quebec City with a killer setup. It's going to be a loud and busy week. Stay tuned folks!" More...
Overkill Posts "Goddamn Trouble"
New Jersey thrash metal band Overkill has unveiled a new video for the track "Goddamn Trouble," which comes from the band's 18th studio album, "The Grinding Wheel," due out on February 10th, 2017 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Bobby Blitz states: "We hooked up again with Kevin Custer, the director behind the videos, 'Armorist,' 'Bitter Pill,' 'Rattlesnake,' and 'Bring Me The Night.' It was an 'all-day' event in the great state of New Jersey and Kevin shot two vids for us on that cold January day, 'Goddamn Trouble' & 'Shine On'. A long day but well worth it as he captured the metal-chaos and energy. So hit Play and get some Trouble." More...

Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy Releasing New EP
Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy's new EP "Mixed Messages" is dropping this Friday, February 10th via indie label All-Core Records, who also commented:
"The EP continues the band's solid chemistry of an ‘Allcore’ metal sound with emotionally stirring and socially conscious lyrics. Evolving from past EPs, 2014’s ‘Picture Day At Night School’ and their 2013 debut ‘The First One Is Free’ along with Adrian Pain’s solo full length 2012’s ‘Love Letters & Suicide Notes,’ ‘Mixed Messages’ is a mixture of Adrian Pain’s solo work and The Dead Sexy’s band work with subtle messages that they hope would help their fans deal with negativity in different aspects of their lives."
The band also had this to say: “This release is like the gateway drug to metal and heavier music in general! We appeal to a very wide range of musical tastes so guys can play us for their girlfriends, and girls can play us for the guys. If you identify another way, you can play us for whomever you’d like. If any negative response comes out of it, it’ll be the fans that expect every song to get heavier with each effort.
"What I hope they notice is the constant evolution of our sound. The music itself is getting more and more diverse and progressive, while the song structures are also evolving into bigger, more complex arrangements. I want everyone that listens to this record to feel an emotional connection. I want people to relate to, and hear the MESSAGE in each track.” More...

Nibiru Recording New Album
Psychedelic ritual sludge trio Nibiru will enter the studio this month to begin recording a new full-length album. Frontman Ardat comments:
“After the release of the ‘Teloch’ 12” EP as a four-piece in spring 2016, we will enter MusicLab Studio to record our new effort live in the studio in February 2017. The new album, called ‘Qaal Babalon,’ will be the perfect incarnation of Nibiru as power trio.
"Working with the drummer L.C. Chertan we found harmony, professionalism, accuracy and anger. According to me and Ri, a lot of rage is essential. Our new music emerged from the deep with no effort. We do not love the peace of soul.
“The songs were written between October 2016 and January 2017. We are very happy about the result. Nibiru came back to our roots, to a sound that is ours. Since the beginning this kind of sound is a Nibiru trademark. Psychedelic, ritualism, noise were, are, and will be Nibiru. The album will be ready in spring 2017. In profundum laci." More...
Ne Obliviscaris Comments On Firing Bassist
Australian avant-garde death metal group Ne Obliviscaris has parted ways with bass player Brendan “Cygnus” Brown, and now the group has issued this statement about the situation:
"Last week we let go our bassist Brendan Brown due to recent allegations of domestic violence. At the time we were advised by a lawyer to not release details publicly of the circumstances surrounding his dismissal, until Brendan had made a statement disclosing the details himself. Unfortunately in the time it took for the statement to come out, the real issues of domestic violence and mental health were cast aside by some to engage in a smear campaign against the band.
"Yesterday a certain website published an article claiming to have proof of a grand conspiracy by the band to cover up these allegations over the years. This is completely false and we will be taking legal action against those involved.
"Their apparent 'proof' was a Facebook comment from Brendan’s mum stating that we were aware of a domestic assault charge against Brendan from 6 years ago because Tim attended court with Brendan. It is correct that Tim attended court in moral support for Brendan back in 2010 after a domestic incident between him and his mum. However, the nature of the incident was such that although Brendan pleaded guilty to the charge, the judge decided that no conviction was warranted due to the complicated nature of the incident and their relationship in general (which is detailed in Brendan’s statement below).
"Even though this situation was very unfortunate and Brendan had clearly done the wrong thing, we also sympathized about his very difficult home life (at one point Brendan had to live with Dan and his parents when they were in their late teens due to the toxic relationship with his mum) and tried to help him through the whole process. This was the only allegation we were ever made aware of at any time until recently.
"Several people have said online that they knew of other allegations for a year, two or even more - so therefore we must have known about them ourselves. However, none of these people actually came to the band directly to tell us what they had heard.
"Once we were made aware of these allegations and investigated them ourselves we acted straight away to try and get Brendan to seek help and made the decision to remove him from the band. Moving forward the band won’t be making any further comment on Brendan’s departure. More...

Rozamov Streaming "This Mortal Road"
Boston doom metal trio Rozamov has released the opening and title track to debut full-length, "This Mortal Road," as the album is prepared for release through Battleground Records and Dullest Records in March.
Rozamov states: "'This Mortal Road' encapsulates what this album is all about, which is why it's the title track. We wrote the album during the snowiest winter in Boston history, making life in the city just a constant draining struggle. It was a really intense time to live in New England, and the cold and isolation of that winter worked its way into the riffs and the lyrics, giving the record the feel of a long and intense journey. This song is the start of that journey."
The crushing production was recorded and mixed by Jon Taft at New Alliance Audio, and mastered by Nick Z at New Alliance East Mastering, then finalized with photography by Andrew Weiss and layout by Matt Martinez. More...

Agalloch Members Form Khôrada
Emerging from the dissolution of Agalloch and Giant Squid, a new group is born: Khôrada. Featuring former Agalloch members Don Anderson (guitar), Jason Walton (bass) and Aesop Dekker (drums) alongside ex-Giant Squid guitarist / vocalist Aaron John Gregory, Khôrada exists to create expansive, epic and passionate music.
The quartet announced that it has signed with independent label Prophecy Productions and is currently writing and demoing material for an as-yet-untitled debut album.
"Khôrada members Don Anderson and Jason Walton have been fans of Prophecy Productions since their inception in 1996," comments the band. "We have always admired and respected their commitment to quality packaging and uncovering the most cutting-edge artists in the scene. We are honored and humbled to be a part of their family."
Immediately following the breakup of Agalloch in May of 2016, Walton, Anderson and Dekker remained committed to writing and playing together and unanimously agreed on working with Aaron John Gregory from the recently disbanded Giant Squid. Musically, Khôrada (an ancient Greek term for an empty space, or place of reflection) is dedicated to heavy, brooding, and deeply emotional songs.
Lyrically, Gregory will write about the anxieties and fears of raising his daughters in a world that is both environmentally and politically in turmoil; where animal life and human life continue to be treated like property and assets to be exploited; the grind of living in an ever-competitive world with an ever-growing and unsustainable population and the fierce determination of nature to violently reset these terrifying imbalances. Deranged Recruits New Vocalist
Swedish death metal group Deranged, whose new album "Struck By A Murderous Siege" was released in October, just parted ways with vocalist Anders Johansson. The band's chosen successor is now revealed to be Johan Bergström (Visceral Bleeding). Deranged comments:
"2016 has been a hell of a year for Deranged. First US show at Maryland DF, an amazing week in Indonesia, signing with Agonia, recording and releasing our ninth album - intense and heavy work! We're 100% grateful for all the support we've had, from organizers, the press, and most of all YOU, our fans! And now we head into 2017, with both some bad news and some good news to follow.
"Bad news first: Anders has left the band. He wishes to focus on his family, so we part as friends and wish him the best of luck! Now for the good news: while Anders' shoes are big to fill, we have already found a perfect replacement. Johan is an old friend of ours, we've played with him before in different projects and there is no doubt he will take Deranged's brutality to another level, onstage and in the studio! Anyone who has seen him perform in any of his other bands knows that he is a bloody powerhouse with one hell of a voice, and we're looking forward to lay waste to Europe this coming spring together." But today the king, who has already survived from a meteor that destroyed his world 74 million years ago, is witnessing for the first time in his life: chaos… an absolute chaos.
"His first reaction is sadness and fear of not being strong enough… Then it comes his second reaction, which is to jerk off in front of the apocalyptic landscape… And finally his third reaction, is obviously to contact his faithful acolytes: Nightsmoke and Don Coco. Then, comes the news. Something horrible has happened. Or maybe somebody… Pelletor. More...
