Soul Demise Inks Record Deal

Soul Demise just announced the signing of a new record deal with none other than Apostay Records and the label had this to say:

"Melodic death metal that never loses its brutal attitude between all melodies. Since 1993, this is the trademark of Soul Demise and the quintet from Bavaria (Germany) is also never afraid of looking for further musical influences.

"Especially the album 'Sindustry' showed a huge amount of variety which was a result of the experience they gained over the years and during their shows alongside acts like Vader, Krisiun, Dismember and Napalm Death. We are proud to finally unveil the follow-up as the new label-home of the band!" More...

Profanity Reveals "The Art Of Sickness"

On April 21st, 2017, Profanity is returning with a new full-length titled “The Art Of Sickness.” Apostasy Records comments:

"Its title reveals the route of the new material which is full of playfulness and technical brilliance while it strikes a balance between art and insane chaos. Recorded at Iguana Studios (Spheron, Imperium Dekadenz, Necrophagist a.o.) with producer Christoph Brandes the new songs will bring all tech death gourmets to the scene.

"To make the album even more diverse, the band invited guests like Terrance Hobbs (Suffocation), Adrie Kloosterwaard (Sinister), Ricky Myers (Disgorge, Suffocation), Christian Münzner (Alkaloid, ex-Obscura) as well as their ex-bassist Martl Bauer. The artwork was done by Pär Olofsson who already created images for albums by Exodus, Unleashed, Malevolent Creation, etc."

Dillinger Escape Plan Involved In Serious Crash

While touring across Europe in support of latest album "Dissociation" (reviewed here), The Dillinger Escape Plan has been involved with a major accident. According to ITV.com the band's vehicle crashed while traveling to Krakow. ITV reported:

Aneta Wlazlowska, a spokeswoman for Radomsko police, said the band members were not seriously hurt but were taken to hospital for further tests. She said the most injured person in the crash was the driver of the lorry that hit the band's tour bus, which was parked partly on the road and hard shoulder. The New Jersey band were due to play in Krakow on Sunday, but the gig has been cancelled.

Following the initial news, Metal Injection issued this statement after speaking with DEP's Ben Weinman:

I spoke with Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman about the current situation, and he said "Everyone is alive, a few injuries, but it could be much worse." He explained that the bus was hit from the back, with the truck smashing through their gear before continuing to plow into the bus itself. The impact was serious and banged them up pretty good. The whole situation sounds horrific.

Unfortunately, it seems as though the fate of the band's gear was not as lucky as the members, as you can see from the phone photo Ben had sent. Needless to say, the show in Krakow has been canceled. No word yet on what will happen with the rest of the tour. The next scheduled show is this Tuesday in Germany. We're just happy everyone in the band is alive, and wish them a speedy recovery!

We'll update you with more info when a statement is officially released from any of the Dillinger Escape Plan channels. More...

Sunday Old School: BMHM Part 2. Blasphemy

Black Metal History Month is up and running once again, covering some of the darkest and most brutal bands to ever lace up a pair of boots. It's a genre often associated with the freezing cold, in part due to the barren tone and unforgiving nature of the music, but also due to many of the genre's most famous (or rather infamous) bands such as Mayhem, Emperor and Burzum originating in Norway, while other bands like Dissection and Impaled Nazarene also hail from cold countries such as Sweden and Finland respectively. Today we'll be looking at another group from one of the world's chillier nations, though this time on the other side of the Atlantic, as Sunday Old School travels to Canada to take a look at what is perhaps North America's best black metal band, Blasphemy.

Blasphemy were formed in 1984 in Vancouver, British Columbia by childhood friends Sean Stone and Gerry Buhl, adopting the respective monikers of 3 Black Hearts of Damnation and Impurity and Nocturnal Grave Desecrator and Black Winds. They were joined in their pursuit by guitarist Geoff Drakes, AKA Caller of the Storms, before adding a second guitar player the following year in the guise of Blake Cromwell, who took on the name Black Priest of the 7 Satanic Blood Rituals. The group started out covering songs by the likes of Sodom, Slayer and Bathory and immediately made a name for themselves when they began performing live, as according to Black Hearts, the show caused a riot in the streets, a factor in the group being blacklisted from Vancouver along with too many fights breaking out at shows.
