Crnkshft Releasing Self-Titled EP

Vancouver, BC’s Crnkshft will unleash a new self-titled EP produced by Daren Grahn on March 24th, 2017 to follow the band's 2015 debut "Hard Fucking Rock." Since the band’s formation that same year, Crnkshft's engine has been firing on all cylinders setting the scene ablaze with melody and aggression influenced by bands like Alice In Chains, Five Finger Death Punch, Pantera and Godsmack.

The wrecking crew comments on this forthcoming mini-album release: “Our new EP is a beast; we are really excited to showcase our melodic side. The four songs should touch a wide demographic of fans, which is what we want. We aren’t looking to be defined as just a heavy metal band, but as a hard knocking punch to get anyone going. We're accepted by all those who listen to metal and rock. The whole idea of Crnkshft’s music is that we’ll be enjoyed by fans across a variety of genres.” More...

Yurodivy Streaming New Album

Yurodivy's new album "Aphos" is out today - February 2nd - via WOOAAARGH Records and all the tracks can be heard below. The label also comments:

"Like a metaphoric tale, the album trace the story of a fish which decided to leave the cold and dark sea bed to swallow the sun and bring it back into the abyss. The title 'Children Of The Sun' captures the division of a people that is facing a system settled by former generations that is now beyond their control.

"In this tale, it is the moment when the sun, brought on the seafloor as something positive, is dividing everyone. Using material from the Battleship Potemkin movie and linking it with the current state of our society seemed for us a good way to represent the analogy of the lyrics of this song, and, by extension, of the whole disc.

"'In The Violence Of The Ashes' is the 8th chapter of 'Aphos.' It is the key moment in the story told in this album. It illustrates our heroin's journey towards the earth center, a concious fall towards hell, this moment when it becomes necessary to touch the bottom to become aware of real problems." More...

Sun Of Gaia Posts New Video

Adelaide-based progressive death metal group Sun of Gaia just launched a new video single for "Peril," which can be seen below. The band comments:

"The new single 'Peril' differs from our previous EP 'Corrode' in the sense that it embraces more progressive elements through the use of clean, ambient sections, clean vocals and places a much greater emphasis on the role of keyboards and piano elements in our music. It still retains some of the heaviness and melodic death metal style of 'Corrode,' but overall it offers a more refined, mature and musically confident insight into who we are as a band today.

"We intended for the new single to act as a kind of 'bridge' between our sound on the 'Corrode' EP and how our next release will sound. It retains the heavier, metal elements that fans of 'Corrode' will recognize and enjoy, but listeners can expect to hear many more progressive elements on future releases that we think are previewed quite nicely in 'Peril.'"

Beastmaker Announces U.S. Tour

Sweating profusely in a parched no man's land about three and a half hours northeast of Los Angeles, Beastmaker's city of Fresno isn't exactly a cultural mecca - and yet it's the birthplace of Hollywood outsiders and weirdos like Sid Haig, Slim Pickens and director Sam Peckinpah. Still, it suffers from a dearth of musicians interested in heavy rock.

As the band prepares for the release of sophomore album "Inside the Skull" this summer, Beastmaker is also ready to hit the road again. The first run of dates with Mothership and Slow Season begins March 10th in Costa Mesa, CA and runs through March 18th in Seattle, WA.

Following a quick break, the band will return to the road supporting Zakk Sabbath (Zakk Wylde's Black Sabbath Cover Band). These dates begin May 19th in New York, NY and run through June 10th in San Francisco, CA. A complete list of all dates can be found below.

Drummer Andrew Alejandro Saldate IV cannot wait to hit the road and comments: "We are pumped to go out a support our new record Inside The Skull with the rockin folk of Mothership & All star trio of Zakk Sabbath!! It's gonna be a hell on wheels!!! Look out!!!" More...

VI Announces Split Album With Order Of Apollyon

On March 31st, three of the finest French black/death metal acts - VI, Temple Of Baal, and The Order Of Apollyon - will find their way onto winter-chilled turn tables, thanks to a new split release.

Divided into three chapters, the recording will feature one brand new song from each of the bands, with a playing time nearing 25 minutes. The split will be available through Agonia Records.

VI comments: "Being a part of this split along with Temple of Baal and The Order Of Apollyon was an opportunity for us to release a new single track. We thought we were done for a while with creating new music since the release of De Praestigiis Angelorum, but it appeared that we still had more to do. Expect something slightly different from what we're known for. Expect something unique."

Temple Of Baal adds: "Split releases have paved Temple Of Baal’s history through the years as special items in the band’s discography, done with special bands strictly chosen for their common views on Black and Death Metal as sacred works of Left Hand Path dedication. Once more, Temple Of Baal teams up with bearers of the Black Flame to bring a three-fold testimony of Faith." More...

Horseneck Streaming "Bobby Brown"

"Heavy Trip" is the impending new full-length album from California post hardcore/sludge eccentrics Horseneck. The ten-track "Heavy Trip" was captured by Lance Jackman (Will Haven) at The Dock, mixed by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City) at Antisleep Studios, and mastered by Carl Saff (Big Business, Helms Alee, Russian Circles) at Saff Mastering.

The album will see release this coming February 17th, 2017 on CD, cassette, and digital formats. In advance of its release, today sixth cut "Bobby Brown" is offered for communal appreciation.

"When most bands write a song, they come up with a working title first and then change the name when it is done," guitarist/vocalist Anthony Paganelli points out. "We just never change the title of the song when it is done. This song is about my struggles holding onto a failed relationship. A toxic love affair. Is there a better name than Bobby Brown?"

Captured! By Robots Releases New Video

Unless you've been living in a hole somewhere, you can see that civilized society is bogged down in the worst bullshittery that has ever been. The frustration with lying politicians, with biased media, with dummies sharing fake news stories has reached a fever pitch. Makes one want to pull their hair out and start killing everyone, right?

Captured! By Robots wrote 4th album "Endless Circle of Bullshit" after not recording for more than 10 years, using this anger at the world as a catalyst to rejoin the music scene. All sounds on the album are actual pneumatic robots GTRBOT666 and DRMBOT 0110, and not a single human hand touched a drumstick or a bass or guitar string.

Today the robots drop a video for the title track "Endless Circle of Bullshit" and comments: "The song wipes away the bullshit being spewed forth, the lies on the TV, the lies from our government, the lack of critical thinking from living in one's own quaint social media bubble."

Hideous Divinity Announces New Album

Italian death metal collective Hideous Divinity, featuring within its ranks current and former members of Hour Of Penance and Aborted, is now preparing to unleash a third full-length album via Unique Leader this spring.

Titled "Adveniens" and scheduled for release on April 28th, the follow-up to the "Cobra Verde" long player was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Stefano Morabito's 16th Cellar Studio during the autumn of 2016 and includes a rendition of Sinister's "Embodiment Of Chaos."

"It may be pretentious to talk about evolution inside our musical genre, this is what 'Adveniens' truly means for us," elaborates guitarist Enrico Schettino. "Just when we believed that with 'Cobra Verde' we reached a point of no return, our songwriting turned even more dark and monumental. Although we'll never consider ourselves close to Lucyfyre, Adversarial, Deathspell Omega, and Akhlys, the influence of this new wave of obscure metal on us these last years has been massive. The result is our most epic death metal effort ever conceived. "

"Stefano Morabito and his 16th Cellar Studios set up a new standard with the production of Adveniens," he continues. "Never before has our sound reached such a level of uncompromising intensity without sounding forced or overproduced. The maniacal efforts made to perfect every single drum beat, vocal line and guitar chord almost caused a nervous breakdown but it truly paid off." More...

Barren Earth Entering The Studio

Finnish progressive death metal outfit Barren Earth is currently preparing to record the follow-up to 2015's "On Lonely Towers" (reviewed here) at Woodshed Studios in March with producer V. Santura.

Bassist Oppu adds, "The melodic and melancholic side is naturally still there, but spiced with a touch of anger and groove. I'm also looking forward of working with Victor, since we all appreciate his previous work. It also is the first time Barren Earth works with a proper producer, and are very excited about the idea of bringing somebody else into the mix and seeing where that takes us."

This is how V. Santura comments on the cooperation: "I am really excited about working with Barren Earth! The guys are fantastic musicians and the demo material I've heard so far sounds very promising." More...

Hexa Mera Releases "Inhuman" Video

Belgian modern melodic death metal crew Hexa Mera just unleashed a lyric video for the song "Inhuman," taken from upcoming second full-length album, "Enlightenment," which will be released on March 31st. Hexa Mera had this to say:

"'Inhuman' stands for all the messed up things we've done. Ironically, humanity is the most inhuman thing there is. Every single day various channels remind us of a simple truth: violence is everywhere, and violence doesn't sleep. We wanted to write a song to condemn all of this. Writing the lyrics was easy, finding footage of our species’ disbehavior even more so. But selecting the scenes wasn’t.

"We watched hours of messed up footage. We had to take breaks because it became too much. We were totally overwhelmed. In the end we became immune to the gore, the sick and our own moral barriers. Management stepped in because we were taking it too far. The video didn’t need all the blood and explicit imagery to deliver the message, it had to be clear without going overboard. We didn’t create this one to enjoy, we created it to open your eyes and face humanity’s inhumanity. That’s what this track is about." More...

Suicide Silence Posts New Song

Suicide Silence triumphantly returns with a self-titled new full-length album set for a February 24th release via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The offering was produced by Ross Robinson (Korn, Slipknot) and mixed by Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age).

Today new track “Silence” can also be streamed below. All photos in this clip were shot by Randy Blythe (Lamb of God vocalist) and Blythe’s photography is also featured in-depth across the band’s new album layout.

Eddie Hermida (vocals) states: “The new track, ‘Silence,' is about asking yourself what reality is. It is about being in your own thoughts and allowing that hell to be a part of you. To realize that when we are quiet and in our own darkness, we can truly be grateful to be alive. The song challenges people to be within themselves. To see that hell on earth has no fury compared to our own mind, so why not accept that and love everything on the outside. It is there to serve a purpose. To free you from yourself. Be silent today and just listen!” More...
