Pit Stories: The Limp Dick Salute To Behemoth

Oh guys, we've got a doozy of a Pit Story for you today!

This one's got it all: unwanted fecal matter, a dude too drunk to realize he shouldn't be naked, and an, er... "half mast" salute to Behemoth at Bloodstock Open Air.

Whether for good or ill, there's also video of the whole debacle below, if you've got the courage to give it a view.

This week's tale comes courtesy of Barnes, the guitarist / saxophone player from Welsh death metal band Intensive Square, who had this to say about witnessing something that can never be un-seen:

Undoubtedly the craziest thing I have seen inside or outside of a venue, would have to be during Behemoth's headline set on Saturday 11th August 2012, at Bloodstock Open Air Festival in Derbyshire. I'll set the scene: there was a huge boisterous rabble of our friends that went to the festival together and we spent the majority of that day drinking at our campsite. As the night drew in, we made our way into the festival area to catch Behemoth's set. In the mania of his inebriation, our good friend (who, for the purposes of this tale, we'll call Tony) repeatedly proclaimed that right at that moment Behemoth were "the greatest living metal band." When we reached the main stage, the band were already in full swing amidst a stage laden with Satanic artifacts and spewing pyrotechnics into the night sky.

Once we had weaved through the crowd and got as close to the stage as we were going to, the band began to play "Chant For Eschaton 2000." Tony went ballistic: "Fuck, boys! This is fucking insane! Behemoth is my favourite fucking band, boys!" and then he started to undress. Pissed beyond reason, mesmerized, and now completely naked, Tony bent over to pick up his red cap and simultaneously evacuated an unintentional morsel of shit from his bowel at the centre of a slowly widening circle of strangers; the festering eye of an uncomfortable storm.

"Boys, you've got to get me up there" he implored. Once our friends Andrew and Jamie had volunteered to raise him on their shoulders, Tony glanced down at his disappointing penis and realised that his general had been demoted to the rank of cadet and that he was not fit for the parade. He scoured the immediate crowd in search of a handjob, seeking to "make it a bit bigger," but upon realising that no help was at hand, he set about the task himself.

As Chant for Eschaton 2000 reached its climax, Tony was treacherously hoisted upwards until he was standing erect above the crowd, still pumping his fist in a futile bid to cajole his limp penis into following suit. He soon realised that this was a thankless task and gave up. Steadying himself with one hand, he slowly raised the other and formed an exultant horn as he shared the perplexed gazes of guitarists Seth and Nergal.

I know you might reconcile this as a fantastical myth, too implausible to have really happened, but luckily you don't have to take my word for it. Just check out the video below and skip to 49:20 where you can see the evidence for yourself as broadcast live on the official Bloodstock coverage of the festival.

Intensive Square's debut album "Anything That Moves" is out now on Black Bow Records on vinyl. For more info on the band, head over to Facebook here.

Eyes Of The Dead Parts With Guitarist

Matt Talarczyk of Connecticut-based metal band Eyes Of The Dead just issued this announcement online about parting ways with the group:

"I apologize to everyone for this, but it is something I have to do. My time with this band has come to an end. You could imagine that this is very hard for me to do, and again, it is something I have to do.

"I would like to say that I am immensely, eminently, unable to find the proper word to express the amount of gratitude I have for you all sharing this 12 or so year journey with me. I am most thankful for the current and best lineup of jokers I have ever shared a stage with. But also the others that have put up with me over the past years.

"I know my exceeding amount of passion for this was hard to deal with at times. I would like to state that this decision is based off of personal issues and I will leave it at that. I will always consider E.O.T.D exactly what I always said it was. Family. So let it be known that there is no bad blood. And with that I will let the final curtain fall as I exit stage left. Thank you all again."

Plateau Sigma Streaming "Palladion"

"A recall and interpretation in doom-metal/dark-wave key of the rituality, solemnity and sensuality of the propitiatory rituals of war, death and love in the ancient Greek-Roman cultures. A liaison with a past that we still belong to, we are part of and should preserve with pride.

"While each song is an Ode to a divinity of the Roman Pantheon, the album as a whole is dedicated to God Bacchus. In our humble opinion doom metal is the best music genre to represent Dionysian atmospheres." More...

Dynazty Reveals New Album Details

Dynazty will release fifth album "Titanic Mass" on April 15th via Spinefarm Records. The record label comments:

"Hailing from the musically lively mecca that is Stockholm, Sweden, Dynazty is a prime example of forward-thinking and evolutionary sound development. It was with the Spinefarm-released album 'Renatus' (2013) where Dynazty truly came to its own.

"Opting for a sound more modern, more defined, and more addictive, 'Renatus' saw the band take a leap towards a tighter sound with an arsenal of rapid rhythm patters and machine-gun riffs, ever-present soaring vocals plus huge, addictive choruses. Thanks to its massive arrangements, 'Renatus' was an exceptional album.

"Now, 'Titanic Mass' sees the Swedes take the next logical step in the never-ending flux that is their sound. This time, they chose to maintain the overall bite and tightness of 'Renatus' while taking a courteous nod in the direction of power metal and adding a symphonic element; yes, the arrangements are Titanic this time! The band has succeeded in making the songs yet another notch more addictive than before. The edgy yet massive production of Peter Tägtgren (Sabaton, Pain, Dimmu Borgir etc, ad infinitum) elevates 'Titanic Mass' to Dynazty's ultimate statement to date." More...

Treat Reveals The "Ghost Of Graceland"

Iconic Swedish melodic rock act Treat will release the new album "Ghost of Graceland" on April 15th via Frontiers Music Srl. The album is the first new material in six years (2010's "Coup de Grace").

Building on the success of "Coup de Grace" - hailed by both fans and critics as a masterpiece - Treat is releasing an album packed with reflective, soul searching songs dressed in devilishly seductive yet hard hitting melodic rock.

"This is where we are today, as a band, as musicians, songwriters and individuals. It's a statement: this is us in 2016", says main songwriter and guitarist Anders Wikström.

"Ghost of Graceland" was produced by long time Treat fan and respected writer/producer Peter Mansson and co-produced by Anders Wikström, showcases a band with a thirty plus career, that are hungrier and more energetic than ever!

To achieve the organic, pure, bold, (somewhat) cocky, contemporary sound with melodies and choruses to die for that they were going for, the band took a step back. Says Anders Wikström: "It's a musical as well as a personal soul searching. We traced us back to our roots, the music and the heroes that got us dreaming back in the 70's: KISS, Van Halen, Sweet, Deep Purple and UFO. An era where music and musicianship really mattered and rock 'n' roll was a matter of life or death." Treat got in the time machine and retrieved all that restless energy. But "Ghost of Graceland," with all it's delicious, action packed and hook laden melodic rock that could soundtrack a party, also sees a band that reflects on their personal lives. More...
