Zeal And Ardor Releases New Video

Zeal & Ardor, the brainchild of Manuel Gagneux that mixes black metal and blues with lyrics delivered in the fashion of chain gang slave spirituals, just premiered brand new song "Don't You Dare."

This marks the first time the song has ever been heard and it was performed live at Couleur 3 studio in Lausanne, Switzerland on January 18th, 2017. Check out the video below.

The song does not appear on "Devil Is Fine," Zeal & Ardor's debut album, which is due out globally on February 24, 2017 and reviewed here.

Gagneux told Noisey, "The idea of something so horrible that merely looking at it will end you is fascinating to me. 'Don't You Dare' thematically plays with biblical demons as well as Lovecraftian elements that lend themselves well to this idea. Since I wrote it after getting the band together, it's not on the album, but will be performed on the upcoming tour. I hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoy playing it." More...

Salem Art Gallery Holding Castiglia Exhibition

Salem Art Gallery - the headquarters and cultural center of The Satanic Temple in Salem, MA - is pleased to present Sanguine Spring, a selection of large-scale paintings, limited editions, and sculptures by world renowned artist Vincent Castiglia.

The exhibition is inspired by the idea that Romans viewed February as a time of purification and honoring one's ancestors. Ritualized bloodletting, purging, and celebrations of opulent excess often accompanied observances such as Lupercalia, Parentalia and Feralia in February to expel the vestiges of winter. Castiglia's art - created with human blood - embodies personal, emotional, and creative purification and purging oneself into one's art.

The Sanguine Spring exhibition is opening this Saturday, February 18th from 8 - 11pm. For more information, please visit this location. Lucien Greaves, co-founder and spokesperson for The Satanic Temple, states:

"As a long-time fan of Mr. Castiglia's art, I'm honored that The Satanic Temple's Salem Art Gallery will now host a selection of his original works - which deftly blend horror and wonder, disfigurement and beauty - for a limited exhibition. The scale, detail and living quality of his works must be experienced to be understood, and I feel that The Satanic Temple is the perfect environment for this uniquely unrepentant visceral aesthetic event." Coldfells Releasing Self-Titled Album

Bindrune Recordings and Eihwaz Recordings are proud to co-release the self-titled Coldfells debut on a limited run of 100 hand-numbered LPs, part of a bundle including a digital download code, an embroidered patch, and a professionally replicated CD version of the two Coldfells demo tracks, “Dungeons Deep” and “On Carven Throne."

This self-titled release is coming April 1st via the label collaboration, with Bindrune and Eihwaz also issuing this press release:

"A winter night of introspection demands appropriate accompaniment, and for that, the blackened doom of Coldfells provides a perfect soundtrack to journeys outside frozen windows and within frozen souls.

"Call it doom, yes, but doom with classic heavy metal tropes: unabashedly melodic guitar lines parallel each torn-throat roar, and triumphant, power-laden clean choir vocals ride upon the the genre’s earmarks of slowness and sorrow. Around its edges, however, the music’s epic black metal influence is never far, rounding out a recipe with riffs and blasts that enhance rather than dilute the anguish of the proceedings. More...

Emmure Posts "Flag Of The Beast" Video

With the release of a seventh full-length record quickly approaching, Emmure today unleashes a brand new music video for the song "Flag of the Beast," which is featured on the upcoming album "Look At Yourself" (due out March 3rd on Sharptone Records).

Discussing the process behind the making of the new music video, Emmure front man Frankie Palmeri states: "I was very happy with the video we did with Aaron Marsh. He came to me with a vision based off his interpretation of the song, and he brought it completely to life. He wanted to give me an audience that becomes ultra violent or possessed by the lyrics of the song.

"'Flag of the Beast' represents the idea that I am in fact some sort of evil deity in some peoples eyes, but on the same coin I am sort of an anti-hero. It is about myself and how I view people that have exited my life or have looked at me like I’m not on the right path. It is about being the epitomy of all things that are against the grain. You can hate me if it makes you feel better, but I am not going anywhere." More...

Ashes Of Ares Parts With Van Williams

Ashes Of Ares - the U.S. group featuring ex-Iced Earth member Matt Barlow - has parted ways with drummer Van Williams. Barlow had this to say:

"We know it has been a while since you’ve heard from us, but that’s about to change. Unfortunately though, there is an announcement we must make first. Founding member Van Williams has stepped down from Ashes of Ares. This decision was both mutual and amicable, and we wish Van nothing but the best with Ghost Ship Octavius and any other future endeavors.

"What does that mean for the future of Ashes of Ares? It means Matt and Freddie are continuing on. Eight songs are written, and two or three more will be finished up soon (and possibly some bonus tracks on top of that), then we can begin pre-production. So basically, we will fully record demo versions of all the songs to appear on the album to make sure they are how we want them before recording the final versions. Thank you to everyone who has been checking in on us and asking when you will get new material. Now you know, so stay tuned for more news soon." More...

Fates Warning Issues Tour Recap

After just wrapping up a January / February European tour in support of the "Theories Of Flight" album, Fates Warning has now checked in with this recap:

"Well folks, we've been back from the European tour for a few days now, and now that I've had time to unwind and reflect on what this tour was like I'd like to share my thoughts with you all... First of all I would like to personally thank each and every person that made it out to our shows in Europe.

"This was a very special tour. Not that any of the others haven't been, this one was just electric. I could feel it every night I stepped out on the stage. Yes, we were excited to play the new material but it seems that most of the crowds were even more excited to hear it. You, our wonderful fans, have no idea how that feels. To have played in this band for so long and to have everyone singing along to the new album was just, well it was amazing. Thank you for that.

"The tour started out strong, with our first sold out show in Essen, Germany. What a great crowd and evening that was!! In fact the crowds for this tour were about twice as big as our last European tour... And we could not have asked for more enthusiastic crowds. Every night was just as exciting as the last. More...

Evocation Posts New Song "The Coroner"

On March 10th, Evocation will release new full-length album "The Shadow Archetype." For a preview of the album, fans can hear second single "The Coroner" below.

Guitarist Marko Palmen comments: "'The Coroner' is in my eyes a classic Swedish death metal track in the sense that it incorporates a lot of fast 2-beat verses alongside some cool double bass drum parts. What makes this track stand out in comparison with the rest of the album and perhaps also other death metal tracks is that it's tuned down to flat-A (flat-B tuning on the rest of the album).

"The down tuning of the guitars and the BOSS HM-2 pedal buzzsaw tone makes the riffs on 'The Coroner' sound as if they were forged by Lucifer himself in hell... The track also features in my opinion the best guitar solo on the entire album. Simon really managed to capture the tracks feeling with his melancholic guitar solo. This is definitely one of my favourite tracks on 'The Shadow Archetype'!" More...

Once Human Posts "Dark Matter" Video

Once Human just debuted a new music video for the scathing track "Dark Matter." Check it out below. Once Human's sophomore release, "Evolution," is set for a February 17th release via Ear Music.

Lauren Hart (vocals) states: “This vicious new track, 'Dark Matter,' is about the dark energy in the world that affects us at our core. You can hold on to it and let it destroy you or you can let it flow through you and grow above it. It is there to strengthen you; letting it destroy you is a choice."

Logan Mader (guitars) further adds: "We worked with director Brian Cox (Gemini Syndrome) for this video. We gave him complete creative control over the imagery and he did not disappoint. He read the lyrics and was inspired. We are really happy wirh how it came out and hope you enjoy it."

Armed with this track and the eight others comprising "Evolution," Once Human intends to build on the groundwork laid down by two tours in support of the group's previous debut, and make it damn clear that this is a band to be taken seriously.

“It’s only been a little more than a year since we put out our first record, but we were so driven by the new sound that we forged that we needed to get back into the studio and capture it,” Mader states. “It was also important to prove to people that this is a real band. It’s not just a project I felt like doing on a whim, this is a band that’s going to have a full career, and now we’re really getting started.” More...

Imminent Sonic Destruction's Tony Piccoli commented: "We first met the guys in Edensong as guests on Mike Portnoy's Progressive Nation at Sea, and it was clear then that we had do something together musically. Edensong's music is filled with passion, and they represent a style of progressive rock that gets me truly excited about touring together. Two bands who've worked very hard on their craft, showcasing their art, it's going to be awesome."

Edensong's James Schoen is also excited about the tour, "I saw ISD on their last tour and it melted my face. They promised it would grow back. It has not. In all seriousness, these guys have an incredible mix of energy, playing chops and taste. They can really play but always keep an eye on what suits the song. It's metal with a modern edge but it also satisfies my nostalgia for old school thrash and prog with blazing guitar harmonies and contrapuntal part writing. We're all thrilled to be joining them for this tour in May as they're also some of the nicest guys in rock and roll"

Confirmed dates are:

May 20, 2017 - Terra Incognita Festival, Quebec City, Canada (Edensong only)
May 22, 2017 - Toronto, Canada @ Sneaky Dee's
May 24, 2017 - St. Louis, Missouri @ The Firebird
May 25, 2017 - Chicago, Illinois @ Martyrs
May 26, 2017 - Detroit, Michigan @ The Loving Touch
May 28, 2017 - New York City, New York @ DROM More...

Hydrogyn Issues "My Redemption" Video Clip

West Virginia rock act Hydrogyn has released a video for the brand new song "My Redemption." The video represents the first single from the upcoming release "Redemption" due out March 10th on HighVolMusic.

The video was shot on location in Ironton, OH at the old historic Ironton City Jail. The city mayor gave permission to use the location as the film site. The jail is being torn down by the city, but withheld from final destruction until filming was complete. The location was the perfect place to shoot with its dilapidated structure and surroundings that matched the dark and heavy vibe of the song.

Located in Ironton, Ohio, the building opened on September 22, 1892 on the site of a former market place at Railroad and North 4th streets. Dedicated to the Grand Army of the Republic, the Women’s Relief Corps, American Expeditionary Forces and the Spanish-American War soldiers, the building housed a library and relics from the war and later the city hall and jail. It was abandoned in 1996.

Constructed for $20,000 by the Yost and Packard Architectural firm of Columbus to honor Civil War Veterans, the building was dedicated to the Grand Army of the Republic, the Women’s Relief Corps, American Expeditionary Forces and the Spanish-American War soldiers. The original deed from 1889 stated that the building could be used only for Union soldiers, their widows and orphans, and that it would contain a library and be a place for “relics of a patriotic nature.”

In 1905, a fire burned most of the structure that left only the front stone facade and tower, taking with it the Briggs Public Library. Memorial Hall was soon rebuilt and used as a library. The building also suffered from the Ohio River floods of 1913 and 1933 but no major damage was reported. After the library moved out in the 1960s, the building housed the Ironton city jail and city hall until 1996, when a deteriorating roof, floor joist, and stairs led to its closure.

The "Redemption" track listing is as follows:

1. Fixir
2. My Redemption
3. Tail Spin
4. Devil God Devil
5. Suffering
6. Break In two
7. Down In Flames
8. Hey Ho
9. In The End
10. Jenny
