Resistance Added To The WOM VII Fest

West coast heavy metallers Resistance have been added to the roster of the Warriors of Metal VII Fest. Only the third California-based act in the fest's history, the Lion Music Recording artists will be supporting the release of their fourth studio album, tentatively titled "Knights of Doom."
Co-founder/bassist Paul Shigo states:

"We are honored to be invited to perform at the 7th annual Warriors of Metal Festival. We've kept an eye on this festival and watched it continually grow since it's inception. We respect the credibility and reputation of this Festival, the organizer Datis Alaee, and the caliber of the Heavy Metal music and bands that have performed here throughout the years. WOM Fest's dedication to the fans and music reminds me of an up and coming Keep it True or Headbangers Open Air Festival, but in the U.S."

The band posted its recent single "VLAD" awhile back, which may be streamed below.

Winterhymn Added To WOM VII Pre-Fest

The Warriors of Metal Fest just announced that folk metal band Winterhymn has been confirmed to play the Pre-Fest Showcase scheduled for the eve of this year's Warriors Of Metal Fest VII.
Band vocalist and guitarist Draug states:

"I am writing from the frost-clad, windswept mountains and untamed forests of Cincinnati, Ohio to inform our legions that we will have the honor of performing at the Pre-Fest Showcase of the Warriors of Metal Festival VII! Myself and the rest of Winterhymn are overjoyed to announce this and to join such a prestigious event!

We will be fresh off the road from Paganfest America V where we will be touring North America with Korpiklaani, Turisas, Chthonic, and Varg, and will be looking to revisit the classic blood-soaked, booze-drenched, battle-hardened Columbus metal hospitality that we have grown to love! We are sounding the call for all of our fellow Ohioans to meet us in Columbus, Ohio on June 26-28 and bring an early winter's chill to the summer!"

The official video for "Stand Your Ground," from Winterhymn's penultimate release, "Songs for the Slain," is now playing below.

Metalunderground.com Official Podcast, Episode 2

In the second official episode of the Metalunderground.com podcast (and third installment overall), hosts Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) and Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) discuss two major current topics, one of excitement, and one of general dismay. In case you can’t wade through the whole shebang, we’ve provided timestamps as signposts to help you along the way.

Ever since British extreme pioneers Carcass knocked it out of the park last fall with their long-awaited return “Surgical Steel,” speculation has run rampant regarding a similar comeback effort from a group of contemporaries: Gothenburg metal fathers At The Gates.

Disbanded in 1996 and reformed in 2008 for the specific purpose of touring, At The Gates in January 2014 began teasing fans with cryptic hints of something brewing in the studio. To little surprise but great delight, Century Media Records recently confirmed the band’s signing for a new album titled “At War With Reality,” the first since 1995’s influential “Slaughter Of The Soul.” [00:01:07] Check out your hosts’ wealth of opinions on this anticipated momentous occasion.

On a drearier note, Kevin and Mike next take aim at the embarrassing spectacle of the recent Grammy Awards [00:15:13] and its decidedly out-of-touch grasp on metal culture. From the Best Rock [00:16:10] and Best Metal [00:19:27] Performance categories, to Metallica’s bizarre rendition of “One,” [00:24:47] to the botched broadcasting of a joint performance by Nine Inch Nails and Queens Of The Stone Age, [00:30:43] to the posthumous snubbing of Slayer’s Jeff Hanneman, [00:45:14] fan reactions to the ceremony ranged from the puzzled to the disappointed to the downright insulted. This conversation tackles all three – and then some.

Two live videos have been made available from The Summer Slaughter Tour stop at the Rave in Milwaukee, WI. Check them out in the playlist below. The Ocean founder and guitarist Robin Staps comments on the videos:

70,000 Tons Of Metal: Day Two

When day two began, it was about two hours from when day one ended....and I was grateful to have had an hour of sleep compared to many others who had none. Energized by Gloryhammer’s phenomenal set of unicorn greatness....I plotted my day.

It got off to a rocky start for shows, since writing my day one report forced a miss of Poltergeist’s first gig since reforming. Tired set in big time and I begrudgingly missed Freedom Call’s first set as well, two items that will not be missed on Thursday. So today’s schedule ended up like this: Swallow the Sun, Terrorizer, Bonfire, Leaves’ Eyes, The Haunted, Orphaned Land, Dark Tranquility, Carcass, Haggard, Death: DTA Tours. I sacrificed plans to see Satyricon, Fear Factory and Septicflesh, knowing that I had to follow up. More...

Aposento Signs With Xtreem Music

Xtreem Music is proud to announce the addition of Spanish death metal band Aposento. The label comments:

"Formed back in 1990, they gained a good reputation with their demos '91 & '93, followed in '97 by their first mini CD after which they entered in a 15-year hiatus until 2012 when they reformed and released another mini CD which was well received within the Spanish extreme Metal underground and quickly making of Aposento a force to reckon.

"2013 was a busy year for the band, in which they concentrated on writing new songs for their long awaited debut full length album. And here it is!! 24 years after their inception, Aposento has just finished the recordings for their self-titled album that shows a truly classic style of Death Metal clearly rooted in sounds of 90's U.S. death metal like good old Cannibal Corpse, Death, Decidie, Massacre... With a heavy production and awesome cover artwork by Igor Mugerza, 'Aposento' is destined to become one of the most outstanding works in the Spanish extreme metal scene for 2014!"

"‘The glass half empty, and filled with piss...’ Ah, well. It all looks pretty normal at first. But there is something dark lurking at the edges. Unnoticed, decay sets in, and the blackness might be closer than you think. But then again life goes on. As does the music. And the fart jokes.

"‘Any Colour’ is not exactly a song about peace, love and good happiness stuff. But fun to play live. Like fart jokes, pretty much. Enjoy, comment and - this actually important - please spread around.“

"The clip was once more directed by Thew New Black‘s Fludid. No spiders, cockroaches, worms or musicians were harmed during the filming. All pyro scenes, car chases and naked dancers had to be omitted due at the last minute." More...
