"Warpstone is proud to honour the spirit of the blessed early ages, carving this intangible side of ourselves into sounds and words, as a rampart, and against the veil of oblivion. Musically hybrid, crossing the greatest extreme genres with a tortuous progressive feeling, Warpstone's sound is deeply engraved to a unique, occult and horrific landscape."

Surrender Of Divinity Bassist/Vocalist Killed

As reported by the Bangkok Post and Death Metal Underground, a self-styled Satanist posted on his Facebook page that he was the one who murdered Samong 'Avejee' Traisattha, bassist/vocalist of Thailand black metal band Surrender Of Divinity.

Jaruvan Surapol, 34, the musician's wife, told police that the killer was Prakarn Harnphanbusakorn, a fan of her husband's band. Prakarn had gone to the singer's house on Wednesday night to screen print some shirts and have a few beers. After the wife had put her child to bed, she went to check on her husband and encountered him stabbed over thirty times. Prakarn then posted the following litany on Facebook:

"I have intended to end my life since I was 25. Because I'll die eventually, I want to drag down those who tarnish Satanism with me. But I refrained from killing women and children," he wrote.

"In my view, I have more respect for devoted Buddhists, Christians and Muslims than those who call themselves Satanists without knowing anything about it," he wrote. "If I did not kill him, I'm sure he would be murdered by someone else later."

'Maleficent Meditation' (Prakarn's FB name) concluded that people who do not have faith in Satan should not call themselves Satanists. He also said he hoped he would be with Satan after he died. He also uploaded photos of the grisly crime scene to his timeline.

Surrender Of Divinity issued the following statement on its band page:

"Avajee, our Black Vomitor/Bass Thunder and most importantly our blood-brother has passed away yesterday by a cruel murderer. No words can express about this lost in our horde. Have a rest down there brother! May our blackest flames blazing bright forever!"

Sunday Old School: Discharge

Stoke-on-Trent is an English city which might not be well known outside of Britain, but they’ve produced some outstanding talent, such as legendary England goalkeeper, Gordon Banks and Phil Taylor, perhaps the greatest player in the history of professional darts. But it’s not just sport that Stoke has contributed to. The world of punk rock, and indeed all heavy music, was changed forever in the city when five young Stokies got together in 1977 and formed Discharge. The seeds of the band were sewn by vocalist Tezz Roberts and guitarist Royston "Rainy" Wainwright, who quickly added Tezz’s younger brother Anthony, aka “Bones” on guitar, as well bass player Nigel Bamford and drummer Anthony "Akko" Axon. Like most punk bands starting out at the time, they were influenced by the likes of the Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Damned, the latter two they would go on to support following the release of their first demo.

Their style was soon to change however, after Bamford and Axon quit the band and they hired vocalist, Cal Morris, leading Tezz Roberts to take up the position of drummer, while Rainy switched to bass. The new addition saw them shedding their Sex Pistols style in favour of a much more aggressive sound, influenced largely by Motorhead (whose frontman, Lemmy, was also born in Stoke-on-Trent) and their lyrics began to take a form as harsh their guitar tone, focusing on the fear of nuclear destruction and the evils in society that was caused by Capitalism. Although this change was made of their own accord, several other bands in Britain had also begun to perform a more abrasive style, such as Amebix and Chaos UK and the new second wave of punk was ready to unleashed, eventually referred to by rock historians as "UK82," which takes its name from a song by The Exploited.
