Dutch black metal trio Fluisteraars today streams the entirety of the band's debut album, "Dromers," which can be heard below courtesy of Decibel Magazine. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"Released today in North America on both LP and cassette through Eisenwald (in conjunction with Cold Void Emanations), Dromers comprises three epic-length tracks that take the listener on a winding, windswept journey through the catacombs of ancient black metal mysticism.
"Like the fading rays of the sun during the change of seasons, as autumnal splendor gives way to wintry majesty, Fluisteraars' Dromers conjures visions both familiar and foreign, both immediate and distant. Their vision of black metal is a highly personal and deeply emotive one, at times recalling early Primordial and Agalloch as well as Autumn Aurora-era Drudkh, yet evincing an engaging personality all their own - and one, it must be said, quite special to their Netherlands homeland."
The track listing is as follows:
1. De Doornen (16:00)
2. Kuddedier (10:21)
3. Wortels Van Angs (8:15) More...

Swedish outfit Sister dropped new album "Disguised Vultures" on January 21st in North America, and has today teamed up with Revolver Magazine to premiere the music video for the track "My Enemy." Check out the new video produced by Jimmy Johansson below.
Sister drummer/backing vocalist Cari comments on the track: "My Enemy is a trip through a chaos filled mind. The lyrics speak about personal feelings on the ups and downs in life and also about what the world has become today. As the opener for the album this song goes out 110% from the start to seconds after hit the brakes and then come back with full force again. That's pretty much how we live our lives today."
The video's producer Jimmy Johansson adds, "My vision with this video was to make it 'in your face' as much as possible, just like the song. I wanted to portrait the ugly sides of humanity such as war, murder, torture, school dances, poverty, starvation, gluttony and so on. Hopefully we can make someone think. If the video doesn't affect you in any way, we have failed. And if you think it's too much, then you should just stay at home and not watch the news ever again and keep on ignoring." More...

"After a long period of silence regarding new releases, the time has finally come to announce that we signed a deal with the one and only Bizarre Leprous Production for the release of our forthcoming opus.
"This new effort, named 'Larvas,' is an EP consisting of four new songs and is actually a continuation of Gorefilia's approach to paraphilias, involving [once again] sexual arousal and gratification towards sexual behavior that is atypical and extreme.
"Musically speaking, these new songs evolved into something faster and brutal than 'Gorefilia,' while maintaining the grooviest side of the band presented in our previous work. As always, you can expect self torture, bizarre love, and loads of sperm tainted with blood." More...

"I am sitting here in what feels like the black heart of distorted guitars and heavy drums trying to sort what material to be chosen for the new Evergrey album that will be brought to you by our new record label AFM!
"While the music might be the most contemplated and dark pieces we have written -and while the sheer amount of music we have the pleasure to choose from is more than ever, we are super psyched and pleased to have chosen a label that believes in Evergrey!
"AFM are certain that we have a lot more to contribute to the world of music and we can promise you that they are right. On top of that it is about damn time that our fans get some new and fresh metal!
"While we at this moment are hindered to speak about the new members - this will be totally understandable when we announce it - they are known to some people and some might never have heard of them B U T we can tell you that they are as excited as the rest of us and have already brought in 50% of the material written so this album will be a 100% band effort! NY hardcore punk act Caught in a Trap releases sophomore full-length, "Goodnight New York," today via Dead City Records.
"I feel like this record is our love song to New York City," said vocalist Rich Fie. "But if you listen to love songs, they aren't always about joy and happiness; sometimes they are about loss and despair. It's a record that was a long time in the making. We definitely stretched out a little stylistically, but at the same time kept true to our NYC punk and NYHC roots."
To celebrate the release of "Goodnight New York," Caught in a Trap has teamed up with Punktastic.com to stream the record in its entirety. Give it a listen below. Caught in a Trap will also appear on Eastvillageradio.com's "Black N Blue Takeover" show tonight at 8 PM EST. More...

Seattle based indie label Spartan Records is proud to announce the signing of Norwegian hardcore band Barren Womb and the upcoming release of debut full-length album, "The Sun’s Not Yellow, It’s Chicken" on March 11th.
The record will be available digitally and on limited edition vinyl, which can be pre-ordered now at this location. In anticipation for the upcoming release, BrooklynVegan.com has premiered the first new track, “Kill Hicks,” today. Stream it now below.
"”Kill Hicks” was one of the last songs we finished up for the record, and it came together fast,” says guitarist/vocalist Tony Gonzahl. “We had this kind of bluegrass influenced riff kicking about for a little while, but hadn't really had the chance to do much with it. Then one day we started jamming and that riff came up. A couple of hours later we had the song pretty much done. Although there is a lot of beauty to humanity, I feel that right now the negative far outweighs the positive. This is not a holier-than-thou attitude, I most definitely see myself as part of the problem. Lyrically Kill Hicks deals with apathy and the bleak future ahead of us if we continue on this path.” More...

The Bavarian thrash metal masterminds in Running Death are currently putting all their love, sweat, and tears into writing an upcoming album. The following press was issued about the coming full-length:
"The record is to be released late 2014 and Running Death will for sure gain a lot of prompt attention - from more than just fans of their genre. What we've seen so far makes us expect nothing less than a thrash metal sensation!
"The band was founded in 2004 and has from the beginning always been looking for quality, diversity and a completely unique style. Exploring their own ground is what keeps the musicians around founder, guitarist and singer Simon Bihlmayer awake at night.
"You're way more likely to hear stomping heavy metal riffs paired with unorthodox arranged razor sharp trash riffs ... than all the things you've already heard so often and really have grown weary of!
"Celebrating wide diversity and integrating an extraordinarily ambitious reinterpretation of 80s flair, the four metier maniacs invite you to a journey through their wonderfully catchy and powerful songs.
"All those factors combined create such an unique and ever exciting soundscape, that many kinds of metal and even rock heads will find their itch for genuinely good music scratched!"

New Brunswick's Anthesis (Formerly The Daisy Anthesis) has announced the band will be releasing a split with new project Cavern (which also features both Scott Miller and Scott Lilly) on the east coast metal label Diminished Fifth Records.
"Working on this split album has been a very unique experience for myself and Scott Lilly," commented Scott Miller. "With the 2 of us playing in both bands on this split it's been a great way to get different ideas out. I see Anthesis and Cavern as 2 very different projects and it's interesting to see them side by side like this. I write the majority of the music for both bands and it's great seeing how a different drummer can have such a unique input on the music. These songs would have turned out totally different if we swapped drummers. We treat both bands equally. Neither is the main or side project." More...

Following several months of anticipation, the Cascadian black metal clan comprised of brothers Aaron and Nathan Weaver now humbly unveil their impending full-length release, "Celestite." The following press release was issued about the coming album:
"Taking a different approach than their previous LPs, 'Celestite' is a completely newly envisioned, parallel-universe version of Celestial Lineage, the beautifully blackened fourth studio full-length epic Wolves In The Throne Room released via Southern Lord in 2011. Celestite arises with a whole new, ethereal approach. There are no drums and no vocals. Rather, deep, heavy crystalline synthesizer journeying, Eno-inspired analog processing and arcane acoustic instrumentation expand upon dimensions folded within the universe of Celestial Lineage." WolveXhys has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with two members:
"Over the past few weeks we have spoken about the departure of Shane (bass) and Rav (guitar) from the band due to various circumstances, Shane and Rav have been with us through thick and thin and have each decided to take the time to write in their own words the reasons behind their leaving."
Shane states: “So recently my commitments have shifted and I’ve had opportunities come my way based overseas which I cannot turn down and hence my commitment to the band is suffering so before this becomes a problem for the lads I’ve decided to step down from Wolvexhys, I’ve made some friends through this band that I’ll be in contact with for some time and me and the lads are on the same terms as if I was in the band. The future for Wolvexhys is looking bright and I wish the lads the best of luck!”
Rav adds: “I'm no longer in wolvexhys. Mainly because of musical differences. With the changes undergoing in Wolvexhys music wise I just don't see myself being a part of it. However in the next few weeks I am setting up a solo project in which I hope to be working with various different vocalists so yeah, keep an eye out. Peace”
The band also comments: "With this now being the case we feel it is necessary to announce also that we are NOT splitting up, we ARE finishing our new E.P and we are STILL going to be shooting a new music video however we have chosen to now remain as a four piece and so we will be introducing our brand new bassist when we release our brand new music video (Filmed by Ollie Norton/Mutiny Press) of a brand new track off our brand fucking new E.P of with artwork designed by Dan Wagner from D-Dub Designs, California (Veil of Maya, Bermuda, Structures, Volumes etc.).
"The future of this band is as Shane mentioned; 'bright,' but in order to do this and maintain we are going to be evolving from what you know of WolveXhys. Our debut album we released back in November 2013 'Servants of Penance and Purification' (available via Bandcamp and all major online digital distributers) included all of the aspects we wanted from our musical influences but very little influence from ourselves and mainly centered around the basis of 'Deathcore' as it’s played and known today. The Finland based symphonic extreme metal band Kara Darahu has released a teaser trailer for the upcoming debut album "From The Depths Of Neverwell." Check it out below. The band also comments:
"Brace the void! Kara Darahu will bring you nightmare visions of truly epic proportions. The first full length release is crafted from dreamscapes and horrors from beyond this world. Epic, majestic and extreme metal that combines symphonic orchestrations and gravity defying metal onslaught into a devastating dramatic play of insanity. Do you dare to dream again?
"The video was filmed and produced in Buenos Aires, Argentina and was directed by Victoria Pelejero. Camila Rodriguez, the 12 year old actress who is having nightmares in the video, is known before as a Phantom Girl in the awarded short film 'La Chica Más Rara Del Mundo - The Weirdest Girl In The World.'"
The video's director also comments on the filming:
"It all started as lets make a 1 minute promo video for the upcoming album but then, instead of some motion graphics about the logo, we came up with the idea of filming this little simple story which works more like a trailer, combining some clichès of 80s movies (catholic girl, bloody toys, shadows and nightmares). What we didnt know is that a nightmare it would be. 'Don´t put fake blood on Jesus!' mama used to say, and damn she was right.
"From the second we throw blood on the cross the problems started. Lights went off twice during filming, a light was burnt then, strange noises all around, and 3 computer disks burnt while editing (One in the name of the father, other in the name of the son, and the last for the holy spirit). We all had nightmares in the process... those really obvious Freddy-like nightmares... that we were ashamed to tell. At the end, it was like 'thank god this Finn craziness is over' and yet... we would do it again, just for the love of blood."
Adds Kara Darahu composer Samuli Tuomas Mäkelä: "We are happy and excited about everything what's going on at the moment. As a Finnish band our first video was filmed and produced in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Huge thanks for Victoria Pelejero, and everyone who was involved in this and made the film possible." More...

It seemed like one year had passed in a blink of an eye. No sooner had I experienced my first 70,000 Tons of Metal, which included a birthday that saw Helloween, Rage (w/Lingua Mortis Orchestra) and Metal Church play, than I was plotting my next adventure on the high seas. The floating festival is not only the most unique and phenomenal metal sojourns in the world, its boasts a diverse genre spanning 40+ bands. Though the 2013 installment represented an array of bands more geared towards my personal favorite tastes, a “Barge to Hell” like fog is built up around this year with Carcass, Obituary, Massacre, Death: DTA Tours, Satyricon, Terrorizer among a few which has swung the pendulum towards a harsher environment. For the traditional and power styles there is return act and “athletic rock” legends Raven, German euro power and proclaimed “happy metal” act Freedom Call, German symphonic metallers Xandria, Israeli symphonic ambassadors of peace Orphaned Land and the 700 piece traveling city Haggard, which single handedly make this 71,000 Tons of Metal. German metallers Edguy have released the following statement on their website:
"On April 18th Edguy will release their tenth studio album 'SPACE POLICE - Defenders Of The Crown.' Last weekend some journalists had the chance to listen to the album for the first time and the press reaction was amazing. There are several good reasons to believe that this album is going to be one of the strongest and heaviest Edguy albums of all time. More details are going to be revealed soon."
The band have largely kept quiet about their studio activities, stating briefly earlier this month:
"We didn't waste any time with updates or distractions. There is no doubt that this album is going to be the album we'll be measured against in the future. And it makes us proud to say that as a band that has been existing for over 22 years now, fully aware that the best is yet to come."
"Space Police" will be Edguy's first studio album since 2011's "Age Of The Joker."
