Texas Hippie Coalition Releases New Music Video

Heavy southern rock band Texas Hippie Coalition have unveiled the video for their new single "Hell Hounds," taken from their seventh studio album, "The Name Lives On," on 21st April 2023 via MNRK Heavy.

THC frontman Big Dad Ritch commented: "Where there once was an appetite for this style of music, I witnessed a hunger grow and now I see the lovers of real music starving for it. The name lives on is an album that is a dinner bell ringer… I was sent to ring that bell!!!"

Texas Hippie Coalition are often compared to the many great southern rock and Texas bands that came before them. But they are proving to the world that THC is not just following in their footsteps, they are leaving giant footprints. Not only is the band etching out a place for themselves in the multi-genre fields of music, but they have also created their own genre in "Red Dirt Metal." You have to hear it to understand it. Words are not enough to convey how powerfully big their sound is. More...

Veteran US heavy metallers Jag Panzer can finally bring some light into the darkness. The band kept teasing their upcoming studio album consistently over the last months and are now pleased to share more information about "The Hallowed": Containing 10 songs, their brand new offering will be released on June 23rd, 2023 through Atomic Fire Records, and with "Onward We Toil" the group have already launched the first digital single off the album. The band comments: "'Onward We Toil' tells the story of the people and animals in the concept pushing through adversity to reach their goal of finding »The Hallowed.« The creatures known as "The Jaw" can be heard in the beginning of the song and the epic chorus illustrates the team working together as one." My Favourite Nemesis Unveils New Music Video

Finland’s modern metal quintet My Favourite Nemesis return with a new look, label and album; the band release their new record "Eidolon" today via Seek & Strike and have also shared a captivating new video for the album's title track. The first taste of Eidolon came via the very well-received single 'Breach'. The track also served as the band’s introduction of new female vocalist Sanna Solanterä (ex-Fireproven), who now joins longtime male vocalist, Janne Piela, for a stunning dual attack. This pairing unlocked a new array of songwriting depth, which is prominent across Eidolon, which is out now across all digital service providers. You can check out the video below.

Vocalist Janne Piela comments: "We started writing Eidolon pretty much immediately after we had finished recording our debut album, Rift. We wanted to make this offering more straight-forward than our previous releases. This meant writing more traditional song structures and taking more into consideration how the songs compliment each other, and the album as a whole. Also, this time around, we decided not to work with any outside producers, as we wanted this record to sound exactly the way we envisioned it ourselves."

On the album's lyrics, Piela adds: "Writing the lyrics this time was a very easy process for me. I wanted the album to tell a story about rediscovering yourself after going through traumatic experiences. After deciding on that concept, the whole writing process was a breeze. I really wanted to explore topics such as depression, self-reflection, self-destructive behaviour and rebirth."

"The name Eidolon comes from ancient Greek literature, which I'm personally very fascinated by. An eidolon is a shade or a phantom of a person and that just fit perfectly the themes of this album. The story on the album goes from someone being an empty shell of their former self and in the end becoming whole again."

Speaking of the recording process, Piela notes: "During the recording, we went through some line up changes, with members leaving the band to pursue different goals in life. This certainly put some strain on the whole process. Luckily, we managed to fill the void and finish the record with Sanna and Vade (drums) joining the band. They also provided their own input and finishing touches on the songs. Overall, we are very proud of this album and how far we've come as songwriters and as a band. We pushed each other to make the best music we can together and I think it's safe to say it really paid off." More...

The Colony Uploads "Bend And Break" Video

Glasgow alt-metal quintet The Colony have shared their new single "Bend And Break," the third taste of their upcoming album "Have Hope," due for release 7th April. It follows singles "Ex-Hail" and "Forever Seeking," two very different songs, showcasing the band's musical diversity. 'Bend and Break' unveils yet another facet of their metal repertoire; heft, guttural screams and crushing breakdowns. Vocalist Peter Cullen sings of a toxic relationship coming to a breaking point, a sentiment that seeps through the track's tense atmosphere.

The Colony comment: "This song is about a toxic relationship and is taken from the point of view where enough is enough, and the individual has decided to regain control of their life. No longer will they be manipulated, or their self-esteem be dragged down just to make someone else feel better about themselves."

The Colony's upcoming fourth album "Have Hope" was produced by Steven Jones (Bleed from Within, From Sorrow to Serenity) and is shaping up to be the band's most accomplished work yet. More...

Sirenia To Release New Album "1977" In May

Exploring a new style like never before – symphonic metal icons Sirenia revolutionize their melodic darkness on the brand new studio album, "1977," set to be released on May 26, 2023 via Napalm Records. Transporting the listener to a retro auditory arcade harking back to when groovy synthwave melodies dominated the world of music, the international band merges late 70’s and 80’s pop rock stylings with synthwave elements and their remarkable, hard-hitting symphonic melodies - shaking the listener to the core.

Showing off their multifaceted nature at its best, the first single cut from "1977" comes as an absolute time machine in form of the record's bonus track, "Twist In My Sobriety." The cover of the million-times-over streamed track by German born British singer Tanita Tikaram matches the surprisingly deep voice that presents vocalist Emmanuelle Zoldan in a very new range, while the eerie mid-tempo appears in a brand new light of modern synth beats and characteristic synth-oboe. Transporting their fans right into smokey, neon lit nightclubs, the eclectic mix of "1977" opens up exciting new facets of symphonic, electronic and groove elements in Sirenia’s music.

Bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, composer and songwriter Morten Veland states:
"'Twist In My Sobriety' is the first single from our upcoming album entitled 1977. This is the bonus track of our 11th album, and it is a cover version of Tanita Tikaram's original from 1988. I have loved this song since it was released, and it has a very melancholic vibe to it, so it felt like an interesting project to make a Sirenia version of it. I hope that you will enjoy it while we wait for the upcoming album release." More...

Medevil Releases New Single "Dead Before Birth"

Medevil is a highly energetic, fast-paced metal band known for their tight songwriting, intense stage presence and roaring vocals. Back in 2016, they released their debut album "Conductor Of Storms" and this year they are following it up with "Mirror In The Darkness," which is dedicated to their late drummer Chris Malcolmson whose drums are recorded on the album. The latest single off this progressive and adventurous new album is "Dead Before Birth" presented with a visualizer video. The band shares their thoughts on the opening track

"Kicking things off is 'Dead Before Birth,' a hard-hitting opening track that begins with a drum-only intro. Featuring complex arrangements, precise timings, and vicious guitar riffs. Between the many different time signatures, dense guitar layers, and menacing chorus, 'Dead Before Birth’s' goal is to be catchy while also challenging the listener. The lyrics are kept abstract, dealing in a metaphorical sense with the feelings of depression."

The single was actually the first track they fully completed writing for the album, all the way back in 2017 with the "Conductor Of Storms" lineup. The song didn’t change too much since then, but it also helped pave the way for the vibe of the album to be in a much more progressive and interesting direction than before. There are more twists that catch you off guard here, and is the perfect way to kick off "Mirror In The Darkness." It’s probably their most complicated song rhythmically, and while they didn’t originally write this thinking it should be complex, it seemed to happen naturally with the riffs they were coming up with at the time. Somehow despite that complexity, it’s also extremely catchy.

??"Mirror In The Darkness" comes out on April 7, 2023. More...

Magnus Rosen Band Posts New Music Video Online

"Glitter And Blood" is the first single of Magnus Rosén Band‘s upcoming album. It‘s classic heavy metal with thunderous guitars, heavy drums and old school vocals. It truly shows the unique musicianship that Magnus Rosén is known for.

"Glitter And Blood" is the signature song from the album, "It's Time To Rock The World Again," which will be released on April 21st.

The time has come to bring back the rock that was once revolutionary. A voice of the people.
To raise the flag for freedom and independence in a world that feels more and more upside down. The song "Glitter And Blood" is about riches within power many times glitters on the outside but consists of bloody hands beneath the glamorous exterior.

The time has come to have a message that shines a light on things we think are important and that matter. Thus was born the blouse of the slaves, which then developed into the coat of the working people where all nationalities count.

Ihsahn Unveils "The Observer" Single

Norwegian progressive metal pioneer Ihsahn has released the final single from his "Fascination Street Sessions" EP, which is out now via Candlelight Records. New track, "The Observer," is a dynamic song featuring long-time keyboardist and friend Øystein H. Aadland on lead vocals, which provides stunning contrast between Oystein's and Ihsahn's vocal delivery.

Comments Ihsahn: "I had a great time doing these sessions! Getting the band in the room...playing off the vibe of what we were recording in these extraordinary rooms. Working with world class engineers like Jens and his team, capturing vintage amps and instruments together with my talented musicians. This EP really represents a moment in time for me. And all along, the wonderful people at URM Academy captured every little detail on camera, so that down the line, fellow studio nerds can share the experience and learn from all these amazing people I get to work alongside."

Known as a constantly evolving artist who loves to transcend boundaries, Ihsahn’s musical journey has been relentlessly fascinating and frequently revelatory. With his penchant for collaborative projects and fascination with production, this new three-track EP, featuring two new original songs and one cover version, is the direct result of Ihsahn joining forces with URM Academy's online educational program for music production, and producer/engineer Jens Bogren (Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Powerwolf) of Fascination Street Studios. Oath Of Cranes Shares New Single

Oath Of Cranes - the new band from ex-Celtic Frost drummer Franco Sesa and ex-Celtic Frost guitarist Erol Ünala - turn doom metal on its head.

The band have today released their new single "Puja," taken from their forthcoming debut album "The Unsung Mantras," to be released 21st April via Klang Machine Records. Stream and pre-order the record here.

Franco Sesa combines his passion for eastern traditional music — particularly the mantra chants of Tibetan monks — with his love for hard rock to create a genuinely innovative wall of sound.

Starting off with the calm, yet uncanny ring of a meditation gong before hitting the listener in the face with Sesa’s hard-hitting drums, "Puja" is a goosebump-inducing demonstration of the incredible energy created by combining walls of distorted guitars with bagpipe-evoking Tibetan horns, guttural chants, and the despairing voice of vocalist Fabrizio Merico.

It is the third and final single to be released from "The Unsung Mantras."

Sesa comments: "Celebrate the negation of hope.
The act of hope should only be performed for a limited time. If the other person is not receptive, for whatever reason, the exercise should be discontinued. Inability is innocence. You should then put your energy to better use. Otherwise, there is a danger of hostility on the part of the one you hope for, with the aim of incomprehension through inability. Not necessarily out of malice. Let it go and move on. Invest in yourself.
As the Mantra says:
From the unreal lead me to the real.
From the darkness lead me to the light.
From death lead me to immortality." More...
