Autopsy Provides New Album Update
Californian death metal veterans Autopsy has checked in with an update on their upcoming new album, the title of which has yet to be revealed. Their message reads as follows:
"Welp… We just finished recording the rhythm tracks for our new full length album at Sharkbite Studios with Scott Evans at the helm and the wild and insane forces of Death Fucking Metal ripping and roaring in our favor. We can already assure you that this record is Autopsy at it’s absolute vomit inducing best. Heads will rot, roll and explode!"
Autopsy's latest album, "Morbidity Triumphant" was released last year through Peaceville Records.
Blaze Bayley To Undergo Major Heart Surgery
Blaze Bayley, best known as the vocalist of British heavy metal band Wolfsbane and the former singer for Iron Maiden, recently suffered a severe heart attack. An update from his management team of Mark Appleton & Christopher Appleton has issued the following update:
"We visited Blaze in hospital yesterday and first of all, we’re delighted to say we found him in excellent spirits, sitting up in bed. We of course had an update on his condition but also a really good chat and a laugh as normal. Blaze has certainly not lost his strength and sense of humour!
"Moving on from that he does require surgery and within the next few days (as soon as hospital capacity allows) he will be undergoing a triple (possibly quadruple) heart bypass. This is obviously not a small matter and we should expect that his recovery period will be many months. We will announce the impact on the tour diary once we’ve discussed with the relevant venues and promoters.
"Nevertheless, Blaze is looking ahead with optimism for a full recovery with good health and fitness, and the full benefit of the surgery and treatment.
"On behalf of Blaze and all of us in the team, we thank you so much for all the messages of love and support. It really has been incredible and Blaze is both energized and emotional in response.
"As most of you will understand Blaze is a completely independent artist and so the postponement of the current tour and future dates is a particularly big blow. For those of you that would like to help us get through this period we ask you to please buy merch from our webshop (probably items that you would have bought at one of the shows). Your support in that way would be very much appreciated by Blaze and ourselves as the management team - here.
"In the meantime, we have Blaze’s blessing to work on Absolva recordings and tour schedule as of course they are also hugely impacted by the current situation.
"We will keep you updated with developments as & when they happen."

1914 Forced To Cancel European Tour Dates
Ukrainian death/doom outfit 1914 has announced that they have been left with no choice but to cancel their planned tour of Europe this year, owing to the difficult of traveling outside of their home country. A message from the band reads as follows:
"Many of you could have been noticing a recent wave of European tours cancellations by UA bands. Unfortunately, 1914 is not an exception here. With heavy hearts we must inform you that we cannot play for our fans this April and have to cancel our upcoming tour.
"Just to make it clear, it is still a 'wartime' on the territory of our land, and this specific time makes it impossible to leave the borders by the men of a conscript age. How could we travel last year? It was possible to get a special permission from the state authorities for the artists to leave the country and do shows and other activities in order to aid the country and spead the truth about unprovoked and brutal war started by russia. There were some irresponsible people who used such permissions to leave the country and never come back, and after it became public and went through a media - the state authorities stopped granting the special permissions for the artists by artificially overcomplicating the process of getting all the necessary documents, by enlarging the list of the documents and making it impossible for bands to obtain what is needed. This affected a lot of different bands in UA.
"Last couple of weeks for us were in a constant fight with that new stupid system trying to show that we had a positive experience of returning back home after foreign tours, trying to display the value of such tours for our country benefit, but no matter how hard we tried - we couldn't break that system and it made impossible for us to go and play this time. We want to apologize to our fans, other bands, promoters, but currently we are powerless here. We will work hard to be able to get to our other shows this year, maybe the ice will melt and we will see some easement in the future, but currently we just did everything we could."
Enforced Unveils "Starve" Music Video
On April 28, 2023 Enforced will release their third full-length, "War Remains" (32 minutes of aggressive, no-frills thrash!), via Century Media Records. For a preview of this record, the new single/video, "Starve," can be seen below.
Vocalist Knox Colby states: "Ultimately, 'Starve' is about being forced to produce when there's no resources to do so, you then become the resource that's produced/harvested. If I'm profitless, then I'm expendable, chaff; but even then I could've still given my life.
So the song sketches out the final moments of someone who has given everything they have left to give, and it's still not enough. They starve themselves to death and watch the world they've given everything to save still fall to shit. They give up and go crazy in the end. Their fruitfulness is deemed fruitless; leaving this world in agony; howling to rebel but not the desire to do so. Starved." More...
Herod Debuts "The Becoming" Lyric Video
There are usually three types of bands: those which play music that’s largely derivative, those that, by some stroke of luck, produce something partially fresh if not original among the derivative mass, and then there are artists who have true in-depth understanding of the musical paradigms of the scene they’re a part of, and who use that intel to create something truly special. Switzerland-based atmospheric groove metal quartet Herod fall in the latter category.
“I’m obsessed with late 90’s Meshuggah, early Dillinger Escape Plan, and early Cult of Luna," explains guitarist Pierre Carroz deftly about the influences behind the sound of his brainchild. Combining the sonic agility of the American math-core pioneers with the relentless ferocity of the Swedish progressive metal innovators, Herod produce a brand of heavy music that is truly face melting. Having played with legendary metal acts like Obituary, Napalm Death and Carcass, Herod are no strangers to the international metal scene, and it shows in the calibre of their music. Their upcoming third album "Iconoclast," puts the full power of their artistry on display, redefining musical heaviness and atmosphere at every turn imaginable.
With "Iconoclast," the band delivers a creation of pure magnificence, combining an undeniable artistic mindset with the best of what modern metal has to offer. New single "The Becoming" puts the full prowess of vocalist Mike Pilat (ex-The Ocean) on display with its explosive screams and ominous low chanting. More...

Warriors beware - from the depths of Valhalla, the mighty kings rise once again! The freshly crowned Top 10 charting band is ready to conquer new battlefields with the warriors and shieldmaidens of Germany’s hottest folk metal band to date, Feurschwanz, on their almost completely sold out April/May tour of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Prepare for huge battles!
Warkings on "Armata Strigoi":
"This is our tribute to the mighty wolfpack of Powerwolf. We honor these great warriors with our version of this epic hymn. Ah-Hu!" More...
Currents Releases "So Alone" Music Video
Connecticut metalcore outfit Currents have shared the new video for "So Alone." Watch it here.
"'So Alone' explores isolation, whether self-induced or through outside factors," says singer Brian Wille. "It expresses the pain of not being able to relate to those we love or to even be in their presence, and bemoans that separation in whatever form it takes. It also touches on the cyclical nature of our ups and downs, in the sense that we can feel we've made the same choices that lead us to the same places over and over again, despite how much we wish to have a different outcome."
The song lives on the new album "The Death We Seek" will arrive on May 5 via SharpTone. More...
Sovereign Council To Release New EP In May
From headlining performances as well as supporting slots for some of the biggest bands in metal, Ottawa, Canada’s Sovereign Council have hit the ground running and haven’t stopped since they formed in 2012. They have released two full-length albums to date "New Reign" (2013) and "Laniakea" (2015) and now they have a fresh new EP "World On Fire" for listeners and ahead of its release, the band is offering up the title track as a single accompanied with a music video. The majority of the EP comes from vocalist Lisa Thompson’s personal experiences and this five-song progressive, symphonic, and power metal-influenced record will take listeners through a range of emotions and imagery ranging from inspiring, motivational lyrics to darker subject matter. The band shares their thoughts on the single:
"This song was chosen as a single because everyone in the band felt it to be one of the stronger songs on this release. It has an edge to it while still being very accessible to a wider audience compared to our previous releases. Each one of us takes a different meaning from the song itself and we hope that our listeners will enjoy it just as much as we do. We simply want people to enjoy the ride."
Sovereign Council got together through a shared love of music and the emotional release that comes with writing, recording, and performing. As a band, they have evolved drastically since being first formed and continue to change each time they sit down to write music. They are proud of their new sound and look forward to their continued growth and change.
The EP will be released on May 5th.

Enforcer Posts New Music Video Online
Swedish heavy metal fanatics Enforcer are stoked to share their second new single "Nostalgia." The title track of their upcoming album "Nostalgia," due to be released on May 5th, gives fans another taste of the new long-player. Whilst first single 'Coming Alive' showed the straight-to-the-point, classically heavy side that Enforcer are well-known for, 'Nostalgia' flaunts a more melodic and powerful edge, including acoustic elements and a more delicate, heart-felt touch. It’s the album’s ludicrously catchy power ballad. Along with the new single, the band have also released a new music video to accompany the track, which you can witness below.
Enforcer's Olof Wikstrand comments:
"Sooner or later you get to a point in life when you realise you’re not gonna live forever and you see things around you that you used to know aged, withered and dead. There’s absolutely nothing you can do about the destructive force of time. We’re super excited to share with you one of the most ominous songs we’ve ever written: Nostalgia. A powerful semi-ballad about the futility of life. Enjoy!" More...

Raven To Release New Album In June
Prepare yourself for a metal rampage the likes of which you haven’t enjoyed in many a year as New Wave of British Heavy Metal stalwarts Raven deliver the electric mayhem of "All Hell’s Breaking Loose," their 15th studio album, set for release June 30th on Silver Lining Music.
The Newcastle pioneers, formed by the Gallagher brothers (bassist/vocalist John and guitarist Mark) and rounded out by drummer extraordinaire Mike Heller have emerged from Heller’s own Heaven And Heller Studios in Los Angeles with 10 crisp, visceral metal classics, each fused with riffs, twists, turns, chaos and more hooks than all the Hellraiser movies combined (think hyperbole, ‘turn-it-UP’ and find out for yourself)!
Among the stand-outs are lead single "Go For The Gold" with the redline pushed hard by a cavalcade of riffs and furious, percussive madness, yet behind it all a melodic journey that makes it multi-dimensional skull-crushing.
"‘Go For The Gold’ is our first single as it really represents the new album mission statement... 100% full on Raven lunacy!" enthuses John Gallagher. "If you’ve got an initial great riff, you just build from it," explains John, "you try not to milk it to death. You want a good structure. You want a good verse with hooks, a good pre-chorus with hooks, a great chorus, and then you want little left turns here and there to spice it up. Otherwise it can sound boring. And if you have too many left turns then it turns into jazz fusion, so it’s a funny line you gotta dance on to have structure but also the chaos part as well." More...
Cattle Decapitation Shares New Music Video
CATTLE DECAPITATION Unleashes “Scourge Of The Offspring” Web Version
Full Image
San Diego, California-based deathgrind mavericks, Cattle Decapitation, unleash their "Scourge Of The Offspring" video today. The band‘s latest bruiser appears on their tenth studio album, Terrasite, set for release May 12th via Metal Blade Records.
Though many bands have tried, no one articulates the real apocalypse humanity is facing as vividly and succinctly as Cattle Decapitation. With 2019‘s "Death Atlas," they reached the apex of this, perhaps leading some to believe they had no place left to go beyond such an achievement, but alas, the band returns with "Terrasite," which is as bold a statement as they have ever made. Roaring to life with the savage yet hauntingly melodic "Terrasitic Adaptation" and advancing through the likes of the relentless "We Eat Our Young" and culminating with the ten-plus minutes of “Just Another Body,” it‘s an album that constantly shifts dynamics and demands a variety of emotional responses.
The record pushes the Cattle Decapitation sound further into more epic and varied territory, and in the hands of vocalist Travis Ryan the governing concept takes a new and disturbing direction. "I wanted to do the 180° opposite of Death Atlas. I already had the concept idea from years back and since Death Atlas was so dark and brooding, I wanted a completely opposite effect – I wanted this to take place in the daylight. I‘ve always found daytime horror to be really unsettling so I wanted to make sure what was going on on the cover took place in the light of day, which also finds its place within the lyrics."
When asked to elaborate on where he is coming from lyrically on this record, Ryan states frankly, “from a place of distress. Anger, rage, resentment, depression, anxiety, a poor outlook on our species both on a day-to-day level, a broader, worldly level as well as a philosophical level.”
Latest single, "Scourge Of The Offspring," he further elaborates, "makes up the bulk of the album‘s concept that the first song, 'Terrasitic Adaptation,' and the cover art sort of set into motion. In the first song, we find out what's going on on the cover, and this song deals more with what our children will end up being - adult humans, shat out and left to make sense of this world only to end up being part of the problem simply by existing."
