Dutch symphonic metal band Delain posted another video blog entry for the recording sessions of the band's third studio LP in Stockholm, Sweden. The release date and album title have not yet been announced. In this update, singer Charlotte Wessels shows the recording of a verse of the new song "Milk and Honey."
The mid-nineties saw Mortician getting heavy airplay for their "House By the Cemetery" EP, so by the time their classic full-length "Hacked Up for Barbecue" was released, there was keen interest in them coming and doing a live gig in Vegas. These Yonkers, NY natives had a reputation as brutal as the Son of Sam infested streets they were from and certainly were about to live up to it with the twisted free for all that was about to follow.
This would be the first ever tour for this two-piece combo of Will Rahmer and Roger Beaujard and whoever would sit in as their session drummer. (They had never bothered recruiting anyone new after their original drummer Matt lost his battle with demonizing luxuries) They figured they could get a gig lined up in our city, but someone had forgotten to tell them that the roof had collapsed on the main concert venue. Most bands would have been deterred, but not Mortician. They had just gotten on the road to tour, hooking up with fans in different cities and improvising where to play. Nothing was stopping them, and they even had t-shirts printed up with all the "tour dates" and cities on them.More...

Gamma Ray announced on its Facebook page that guitarist Henjo Richter was injured in a bike accident and is currently in the hospital. As a result, he will not be able to attend the Sweden Rock Cruise scheduled for October 6-7, 2011. The band plans to play without Richter, opting to have keyboardist Corvin Bahn use a distortion pedal.
The announcement reads: "Dear All, Unfortunately we are forced to deliver the bad news that Henjo Richter had a bike accident and broke three ribs and the collarbone, so he will not be able to play on the cruise. Since we couldn't find a replacement and did not want to cancel the show and leave our fans disappointed, we have decided to play the show nevertheless and give our longtime live keyboarder Mr. Corvin Bahn (Crystal Breed) some extraspace and a distortionpedal for his organsounds. So if you're on the boat and around 1:45 am hear something that sounds like Deep Purple playing Gamma Ray songs, its us. Hope you'll enjoy this 'Show beyond the ordinary'. Cheerzzz and have fun, Da Rrrrayzzz."

"Dear fans of Visions of Atlantis! Due to some problems concerning the voice and health of our male singer Mario Plank ,who is completely irreplacable for any VoA Live-Show, we are forced to cancel the upcoming UK shows together with our friends of Leaves' Eyes! THIS WILL NOT AFFECT THE SHOW @ Metal Female Voices Fest in any way as this show will be played for sure!! And as we're recording our first Live DVD on the 23rd of October we have to do everything bringing him back on 120% capacity which won`t be possible doing another 5 gigs before! We are very sorry for this as we were really looking forward doing these shows but not under these circumstances and we hope you can understand and respect this decision for a 120% VoA show and against some maybe just 50 percent VoA shows with the risk of the cancellation of our whole Live DVD-Production which will be released for everyone to enjoy in 2012! Thx for your respect, Yours VoA"
Musicradar.com has posted a track-by-track breakdown by David Ellefson of Megadeth about the band's upcoming album "Th1rt3en," which will be released through Roadrunner Records on October 31st in Europe and November 1st in North America. You can check out an excerpt from the breakdown below.
Sudden Death: This is a track that was being worked on when I rejoined the band. I came in on a Friday, I played my part on a Saturday, and on Monday we put out the press release that I was back in Megadeth. So this song represents a real homecoming for me.
Musically, I wanted to combine a New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and a thrash style in my bass playing. There’s some great rhythmic work going on, particularly in the intro, and the riff, especially towards the end, gives me a chance to move up an octave and create tension underneath the guitars. All by itself, it’s a very exciting song. But when I think about what it represents, it’s deep on an emotional level.More...
