California female fronted band Huntress posted a new music video for the song "Eight of Swords." The song will appear on the band's as of yet untitled debut release. The video was directed by Simon Chan of Artificial Army. The song was produced/engineered by Chris Rakestraw of Sunset Lodge Recording.
According to the band's bio: "Huntress was birthed in the underground of Highland Park, California, clawing at the roots of heavy metal. Lead singer Jill Janus is an operatic banshee with an unparalleled four-octave range and lust for the occult. Born and raised in the Catskill Mountains of New York, she toured Europe as a teenage opera starlet. Upon her return to the States, Janus embraced Manhattan nightlife, creating Felliniesque cabarets and parties in a nihilistic club scene. Years later, Janus moved to Los Angeles and began the gestation period of Huntress. In 2009 she met underground metal band Professor. The universe spread her legs and delivered Huntress to Janus, combining former members of Professor, Dark Black and Skeletonwitch."
Huntress is made up of the following members:
Vocals: Jill Janus
Lead Guitar: Blake Meahl
Rhythm Guitar: Ian Alden
Drums: Carl Wierzbicky
Bass: Eric Harris"

Guitarist Mike Flyntz is equally as enthusiastic. "I have been performing the songs from the 'Thundersteel' era for over 21 years. It has been an honour to write and record 'Immortal Soul' with Tony, Don, Bobby, and Mark. I am very proud of my contribution to this record and also very proud to play along with such inspirational musicians. I hope everyone enjoys this album as much as I do." More...

Be sure to head over to the band's Facebook profile now to view their entire tour itinerary.
Ben Bruce (guitars) states: “Finally, after months of gossip and hype it is here! Stepped Up and Scratched has arrived. It's the only remix album worth buying, haha. Stepped Up and Scratched was a concept we came up with about three years ago while recording Stand Up and Scream. We are all into a lot of different kinds of music (rock, pop, blues, swing, dance, house, electro etc.), so stepping out of our comfort zone is something we are used to. Stepped Up and Scratched is proof of that. This album is a representation of this band as an artist, not just as a metal band. It is full of great remixes that would be perfect in a club/rave setting or at home just to party to. Not only is Stepped up and Scratched a predominantly electronic album, but we decided we wanted to keep it heavy and be different so you will find a lot of the actual music has been left in to the mixes making it a really unique listen and a completely fresh sound/feel. We had a lot of fun working on this record along side the many talented DJ's that appear on the album. Check it out as its really an album to just get wild to. Enjoy!
"North America, we are back baby. No more rules, no more waiting and no more bullshit. We are fucking back and we are coming back hard. This is going to be our most uncompromising and crazy live show yet. We won't stop until everyone knows our name. We won't stop until this music kills us. The WWIII tour with Hollywood Undead is the start of a new era. It's the start of something special. We are stronger, louder, harder and more determined than ever. This tour is about all of us. Lets have the time of our lives. See you all there.”

"Almost half a decade ago since the Broken Strings album was released, Sin Scythe has been writing and recording the new album Divine Masque Revelation and has put it on hold for the pre-album Apotheosis.
"Many travels and ideas have been change and intertwine during last last few years, so Sin decided to release an album before the Divine Masque Revelation album. He feels that it is not the right time to release it and that the new album Apotheosis should take the lead. It will surely provoke the rebel within liberating the contained madness.
"The Apotheosis album is a significant step up from the last album Broken Strings, Heavier, more technical, and more offensive towards the ones who don't want you to know or create the center in the self. This is the era of the Godless Phoenix Rising from the ashes of religious dogma's and former traditions that do NOT influence spiritual growth or evolution. Presenting how NOT to become an individual or to inherit Liberty, with the works of morality and normality psychosis ethnics. Now is time to take full responsibility of one's self actions and centralize the assertion of one's self True WILL and express and know yourself by whatever means. Prepare yourselves for a new strategy of the black arts."
You can also check out Element of Eclipse tracks available for streaming online through the band's MySpace page.

The ornate and historic Sing Ling Temple, located on a hillside in the scenic mountain town of Puli in Nantou County, Central Taiwan, played host to Taiwan’s top extreme metal band, Chthonic, this past Saturday. The temple is of special historical significance to Taiwan, as it was the site of a battle between Taiwanese troops and KMT soldiers following the 228 incident, in which many thousands of Taiwanese were massacred by the KMT over 40 years ago. Chthonic has since made the temple, along with local folklore and the Taiwanese fight for recognition of their independence, a central focus of their music and lyrics.
Fans began lining up hours in advance of the concert’s 6:30 p.m. start time, climbing the steep hillside steps leading up to the bright orange thatched roofs and delicate masonry of the temple proper to the staging area just behind it. A film crew, documenting the concert for a future DVD release, lugged hundreds of kilograms of gear, including a large swing-arm camera that dipped and dove over the heads of the fans throughout the show, up the stairs in temperatures that reached an unseasonably high 30 degrees plus.
Crew members, international music press from around Asia and Europe, including a representative of Metal Hammer magazine (UK), and a few lucky friends and fans looked on as Chthonic battled and overcame sound problems early on during their sound check. Special guest vocalist, the affable and approachable Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), lounged in the shade of a ring of trees surrounding the staging area, clad in a black Misfits T-shirt, wraparound shades, backwards baseball cap, and camouflage shorts, awaiting his call to the huge steel stage constructed for the occasion. The stage came complete with poly casts of huge stone sculptures of mythical beasts usually found guarding the front gates of temples in Taiwan, and a large backdrop featuring the Chthonic logo, all designed by local artist, photographer and art teacher Oink Chen. For a genre as controversial as National Socialist black metal (NSBM), it's a given that there would be a backlash against it from within. Especially given that metalheads are often a rebellious bunch, a bunch of songs about extreme forms of nativism was inevitably going to annoy the living crap out of a lot of left-leaning metalheads. And thus, red and anarchist black metal (RABM) was born, a genre even more obscure than NSBM but coming from the radical left.
Not a genre with a specific sound but one defined entirely by ideology, RABM will likely never see mainstream appeal but will still manage to attract a small yet dedicated following committed to a never-ending war with NSBM.
Proving that one can be proud of one's culture without resorting to fascism, Yaotl Mictlan is a Mexican band affiliated with the EZLN secessionist movement in Chiapas. Evoking the religion of the ancient Aztec civilization as an attack on the Spanish imperialism and fighting for indigenous rights is only is still second to the band when it comes to making quality ass-kicking black metal.
